    Great video! I just did this trail on Saturday (before finding this video), and I can confirm, easy for 2wd and has low clearance coming form Silverado until the 4 corners, just after that, if you head towards the Ortega towards the signal towers there's a section about 500 feet up that trail that was sketchy with deep washboards, about 4 in a row that would cause issues for anything other than 4wd / AWD with decent clearance. I was in a lifted Rav4 and made it ok FYI.

    2:10 Few years ago a buddy of mine came flying down through this turn and sent his Ford Explorer down the cliff. He's super lucky to be alive. It got towed out somehow but it was a total loss of course.

    Do you know if there is a way up from the corona side? My buddy and I went up here from the maple springs side, drove about 10 miles on the dirt roads (after the antennas) but unfortunately it seemed like a dead end and we had to turn around. Just wondering if you know of a spot in corona that isn't fenced off. Thanks for the great video!

    I have been going to this trial since the early 2000s, with friends. There’s been a few times at 2:10 where people have almost come off that road. I always called it “deadman’s curve”.

      Oh yeah, pretty much at any point in time you'll see some kind of car husk at the bottom of that turn!

    Would a 2wd Tacoma make it to the peak? If so, which trail up would be the easiest and safest? I’d love to try it out next weekend. Thank you and great video bro.🤙

    • @PacificRoamer
      @PacificRoamer  Год назад +2

      It depends on where you go on the peak. Coming up from Maple Springs a 2WD can 100% make it to the peak where the antennas are. The Corona side taking Bedford Motorway has one steep section with lots of washboard that most 2WD cant make, but it may have been flattened out since I last checked.
      Just be wary of dropping down to the lower viewpoint at the peak, the main road people take has some decently deep washboard which can cause problems. There's another side trail to get to the same viewpoint that's flat, I would recommend that.

      @@PacificRoamer When going up to Santiago Peak from the Maple Springs side, there's a section of trail with big whoops on the left and rocks on the right. Seemed pretty sketchy and I turned around.

    • @PacificRoamer
      @PacificRoamer  11 месяцев назад

      There's maybe 3 or 4 accessible mines left in the Santa Ana's. Honestly none are worth it though, and I doubt I'll go back. Pretty much all of them are flooded and have bad air.

      Unsure of the status of those models but Cleveland National forest only allows street legal vehicles on their roads (Green and Red Stickers).
