Hey! I just discovered your lectures while developing my newest brainchild. Thank you and good job 😊I'm American and have a couple of questions, one is the omnipresent American jurisdictional question that separates the fast food workforce from the academic and intellectual minority.... Does one start at the state level if it's state statute subject matter, or is it all done at the federal level? The exhaustion rule applies, no? Also, are there executive and legislative counterparts to check the legitimacy of the judiciary? And how is the process of judicial review different from the writ of quo warranto? And.... Anyone can file, right? Like, I don't have to prove that I have been injured or damaged by the statute under review, to have standing? Just by being potentially subject to unlawful legislation gives one cause, correct?

Hi and thanks for the interest. Glad you like the videos and do check out my ones on SCOTUS -it's one of my favourite topics. I am really snowed under with university applications at the mo but I will try to get around to answering at least some of your questions. If i have not got back in a week please do ping me a reminder!

Hi. Jobs wise it does not rule much out, except things like medicine and engineering. Banking, the law, anything like that is open to you. As, of course, is politics. There are some videos on the ideologies and I will be adding more. Best wishes, Bert

Hi I love your videos … does any of your videos cover the relationship between parliamentary sovereignty and the rule of law … looking into a substantive rule of law.

Hi and thanks for taking the time to say that. Not entirely sure what you are after but if you give me some more details I will gladly help if I can.

@@drfegg288 I'm currently doing a course with OU … looking at a substantive rule of law as apposed to a formal rule of law - to in affect keep tabs on Parliamentary sovereignty - just hoping to broaden my understanding.

@@tammymountain575 Hi. That's a little outside my area of expertise but my understanding of it is perhaps best demonstrated by comparing the british (formal) principle of the rule of law with the version from the US as articulated in the XIV amendment, which demands 'due process' and 'equal protection.' Implicit in the latter is a sense of value or normative judgment not obvious in the UK version. So in the UK we can merrily pass laws that restrict rights (Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, for instance, or any of the laws regulating investigatory powers) that a system recognising substantive rule of law would toss out. In other words, you can look at a regime that maintains a formal rule of law while rejecting a substantive rule of law, the most obvious being the nazi government in Germany 1933 onwards. Here you had an almost fanatical adherence to the formal rule of law while casually discarding any sort of substantive approach - I'm thinking Nuremburg laws for instance. I don't know whether this argument stands up but I have enjoyed thinking about it (it's been a while since such a deep dive has been required!) ATB and good luck! Bert

@@drfegg288 Thank you, I will look at your comments - I find it really difficult - I have to critically evaluate relationship with rule of law and parliamentary sovereignty - with rule of law being substantive to check on parliament etc Looking at different theories such as Dicey, Bingham, Dworkin, Raz etc Its a minefield. I'm sure I will come up with something though... Took me ages to try and understand 'substantive'. Thanks again Tammy
