  • Upwork and Fiverr are almost synonymous with being a freelancer.
Unfortunately both of these sites get a lot more credit than they deserve.
In reality, getting a job on Fiverr or Upwork is like pulling a Powerball ticket and hoping you win the client lottery.
The over 18 million freelancers using Upwork outnumber the 5 million clients more than 3 to 1.
I don't know about you but I'm not a fan of those odds.
And that's not even the worst of it.
On top of the almost impossible competition there's a number of other issues that make Freelancer.com, Upwork, Fiverr and any other similar sites a bad idea for freelancers.
And in case you don't believe me I list all those reasons in this video.

Good information. It really seems like Upwork is a race to the bottom overall. If I were a client, I would be more inclined to hire a top rated or top rated plus freelancer because they've had plenty of work and your sure to get a good result. Also, I may be wrong, but if you calculate the total earning and divide that by the hours spent for project, many of these "high performers" really don't make that much. They've simply been on Upwork for years and have worked to that level, but they're not going to get rich unless they create an agency where they are working with a group of others. So, I've been told to use Upwork for a handful of jobs, don't expect to get paid much at all and it'll take about 20 proposals to find a simple job. Get your "testimonials" and get out. Am I on track?

I was repped for 13 years by an artists' agent who took 30%, just for perspective.

Can you outline how you use LinkedIn for clients? I just started doing a little freelancing for RUclips growth strategies and having a hard time getting consistent work on upwork
