At first he is an okay character to Ellie as he tried to be relatable, and even likeable, which to anyone playing the game for the first time would like him. I referred to him being likeable in past tense because we don’t know he’s a cannibal until later on.
First, THANK YOU. I lived the whole game thanks to you. The 10 hours or so flew by. It was riveting! I sucked at this game so to see a competent player get through it most-expeditiously was greatly appreciated! There were cuts where I wondered if you got tired, if the game crashed, or if you died and reloaded! Also, there was one clever spot in this video where you ignored a bottle of pills for a LOOOOONG time before picking them up and I was laughing because I know you were messing with us, lol! Lastly, there sure are a lot of random ladders and floatable pallets in this game! Bravo! Enjoyed every minute :)
It's comforting to know that Joel knew that's what she would want. It alleviates the pains the player experiences over Joel's death. If you're a fan of great stories and if you're not biased you should understand why Joel died. Therefore, you wouldn't hate part 2 so much. Obviously the torturing wasn't needed however, it wouldn't be such a great story if they didn't ignore your feelings. So, if we're being honest with ourselves Joel is a bit selfish because we all know he was trying to make up for the loss of his daughter while ignoring the greater good. And killing Marlene was unforgivable.
You must not be a father. I am a father, of a daughter. And believe me in Joel's place I'd have killed everybody else in that fucking hospital to save Ellie. Some things are unconscionable and unforgivable no matter how much good might result. Especially in this case since it's never explicitly said that Ellie knew they were going to have to KILL her to have a chance of MAYBE creating a vaccine from it. She had just as much a right to her own life as anyone she might have been able to save by letting them kill her. For those of you who are fathers, and genuinely love your children, ask yourself this: If some strangers say from the government showed up at your house and demanded to take your daughter away to kill her in hopes of making a drug that might save thousands of lives, would you turn her over? I know I wouldn't. I'd kill every last one of them to my last round of ammunition. The only way it would happen would be over my literal dead body. It doesn't matter that Joel wasn't Ellie's biological father. By the time they reached the end of their journey he was her father in everything save genes, with the same powerful urge to protect her at all possible costs. And the heroic measures he went through to protect and save her along the journey earned him the right to have a say in her fate. Well they didn't want to give him a say in it but he took it from them anyway. Fuck them and their cure. Find another way that doesn't involve murdering this girl. Oh, there isn't another way? Tough titty. And by the way, suck on the muzzle of this shotgun why don't you. Killing Marlene wasn't unforgivable, it was just good sense. Of all the Fireflies present at the end of the story she was clearly the most dangerous one, and if he left her alive he'd be having that fight again eventually. And as ruthless as Marlene was as a character, she more than anyone would understand exactly why Joel put her down. If you couldn't have understood that and felt the necessity to kill her and done it, well let's just say that you probably were too weak to have survived long in a world like that anyway. Nothing that happens in Part 2 changed my opinion about any of this by even a single millimeter. If I were Joel I'd rather have Ellie alive and hating me than dead. It brings to mind that brilliant line of dialogue from the first episode of Penny Dreadful, when Sir Malcolm is explaining that his daughter needs to be rescued from the vampires and there is no length he wouldn't go to to do it. He says "To save her I would murder the world." Amen, brother. I think most normal parents feel this way. If you don't, what the fuck is wrong with you?
Those guys are just babies. Joel doomed mankind, and he also broke his contract with Marlene to deliver the goods. And murdered her AFTER she spared his life . I already knew after the first game, that he would face retribution. These dudes crying are just ❄️ snowflakes.

part 1 ending was absurd. 1st Fireflies full of complex syndrome 2nd Marlene dialog doesn't connect with the record play and i dont have have a clue why not. 3rd Just tell him all that shit. 4rth Let him see her!! Let's give them like one hour of peace for those people which Marlene said "how do you made it all that way?" 5th To be honest I would prefer an ending when everything is like that: soldiers find joel and ellie and help joel revive her. Ellie wakes up from the choke. Marlene lets joel see her. Marlene and joel in the same room with ellie. Marlene lets them talk alone. Joel tells ellie the truth. Ellie doesn't want to die. Joel tries to do the hard right thing and convince her for the good of humanity. It worked. He panicked. He doesn't give a fuck about humanity. He does give a fuck about love, his emotions and ellies emotions. His redemption is there. He kills them all and save her.

When I first saw David I thought he wasn't a villain but man was I wrong. David by far is worst than the clickers or zombies in this game realistically speaking kind of reminds me of the terminans in TWD. Ellie was likable. But in the 2nd game she was something else man. Wasn't the Ellie I knew in the 1st game. Didn't like her character there.

Why does it matter though..The faces are completely different because its a completely different kind of graphics engine, it's going to be different. They made it look more like Tlou2 anyways I think. This Marlene and the Marlene flashbacks in tlou2 are pretty identical.
After I see this again, I realize what an asshole Joel is and deserved his death at the beginning of Ep 2. He bullies his brother, Henry and Sam, and his first instinct is to point a gun at someone. The reason why I think the ending is so good, and Joel was justified in killing them all, was that they took away her choice. She nearly drowned and they never let her regain consciousness. If she was asked, she would have probably chosen to do the surgery. But they took that choice away from her.
