THE GRECCIO NATIVITY SCENE TURNS 800 YEARS - WE REMEMBER IT WITH SAINT MAXIMILIAN (KW 1020)
This Christmas night marks the 800th anniversary of the first nativity scene and the first Christmas night Mass in Greccio - which that night became like a new Bethlehem, thanks to the evangelical genius of Saint Francis, who explained his "chief intention”:
“For I would make memorial of that Child who was born in Bethlehem, and in some sort behold with bodily eyes His infant hardships; how He lay in a manger on the hay, with the ox and the ass standing by.” (Thomas Celano, First life of Saint Francis, cap. XXX).
The International Center of the Militia of the Immaculata wish you a Holy Christmas, lived in the simplicity of the first nativity scene, to respond like Mary Immaculate, like Saint Joseph, with an unlimited "yes" to the love of God, who cries and smiles to us from the manger. We pray that the child Jesus will be raised up in the hearts of many who have forgotten him.
