I am from Burkina Faso, and, I can tell you, this man is still revered and even called prophet by many of us. He was a blessing to our country and would have achieved more on the continent. His friend Compaore has recently been sentenced to life emprisonment and is in exile, but this is not enough to comfort us because we are still an underdeveloped country. That would have been different if Sankara was still alive. We are still crying for this big loss...

Comrade, I say this with nothing but love. Sankara left a road map to salvation. He is gone and isn't coming back, but he last left to the people of Burkina Faso the means to their salvation. Through revolution the people of Burkina Faso can continue the work he started. Power comes from the masses of the people💙

What makes me so sad is that this is not the history we are taught in our African schools. We are taught about the Christopher Columbus and do on but nothing that reminds us Africans about how strong we can be and how we can change our fate on our own if we want to.

Afrika has the longest history, and many of Her ancient Leaders were as great if not greater than Sankara! I would say though that for the very short time he was given, he accomplished tremendous feats that many of these modern leaders have yet to begin to appreciate. K. Nkrumah of Ghana also did great things in his time as leader of Ghana.

Imagine if him and Gaddafi were both still alive today, the whole middle east and Africa would be totally different. The third world must unite. And you could (nowadays) ad China and Russia to the list of imperialist Oppressors.

The Ziaur Rahman of Burkina Faso.
Ziaur Rahman is a Bangladeshi freedom fighter, Bir Uttom(2nd Hightest gallantry award given to the freedom fighters). He also ruled the country for a little less than 4 years and did a lot of great stuff. Free market economy, human resource export, industrialization etc. He was also targeted by people who couldn't endure the rise of a nation. He was brutally murdered in my hometown of Chittagong. May Allah bless such leaders, may Allah send us more leaders like them.

@sebatian you asshole bootlicker, they dont give a shit about the french people, the only reason the french capitalists ever give benefits is so that they can pretend they are doing good, just like the feudal lords under the monarchy claimed to protect the peasants while in reality they were exploiting them. Why do you think the russian revolution happened. The Tsar didnt give a shit about his people and just repressed them leaving them poor and desperate so they turned to the bolsheviks and overthrew them.By doing benefits the western capitalists are pretending to serve the people so that they don't end up like the Tsar

When you see a nation progress and improve so drastically through Marxist rhetoric, such as this nation's story shows, how can you possibly still blame the fall of the USSR on communism? Just as this nation fell due to imperialism, so did the USSR. Imperialism is not something which can be fought by militaries and nations. Imperialism is something which MUST be fought by every decent citizen within EVERY nation. Whether you compromise the war crimes of your government's military, or you inform the public, or you fight for political power, if you have the ability to fight against imperialism and you do not, you are committing a disservice to your character and to the world which surrounds you.

This man held the highest position in his country and chose to own almost nothing. That's a man of principle right there. This documentary is trash. "Sections of the population were tired of sankaras methods" do they mean the feudal lords and the stunted bourgeouise who had a financial interest in the continued exploitation of the people? I have a hard time believing that the people would tire of a regime that greatly raised their quality of life.
