  • In today's video we head out to Busch Gardens Tampa for a media event showcasing 4 of the new Up Close Animal Encounters available at Busch Gardens. We start out meeting a silverback gorilla. We learned some interesting facts and had the opportunity to toss some treats over to him. We even learned a hand signal the veterinarians use to aid in inspecting his teeth! After the Gorilla we headed over to the Animal Care Center where veterinarians were performing surgery on a silver fox that was found in a local park in need of veterinary care. Then we headed over to meet a black rhinoceros! Her name was Jodi and she was incredibly sweet! Once again the care takers told us so many interesting facts about the rhinos and how Busch Gardens takes care of them. The next tour we went on was the Aldabra tortoises. It was amazing to hear the back stories of the tortoises and how the animal care specialists have made their lives better. We ended off the day with a visit to the sloths where we met Daisy a two toed sloth. All of the animals were so amazing and we learned so much on these tours! Thank you again to Busch Gardens for having us out and be sure to join us tomorrow for another new video!

    Happy National Zookeeper Week to my fellow zoologists out there! I've been taking care of exotic animals in zoological facilities for 5 years now and it's the best job ever. Thank you so much Tim from always being so supportive of zoos and helping spread awareness, and thank you to everyone who comes to these videos excited to learn and not judge. Busch Gardens is an incredible facility that is very passionate about animal care and education, this is a great addition!

    • @Nimeariel
      @Nimeariel 5 лет назад

      Yes, there are many zoos and aquariums around the world that care SO much about animals and awareness and conservation and education and care. But I just wish that EVERYONE could see that passion at those places, not just "aw poor animals"..... I would LOVE to be able to be a zookeeper and surround myself with all kinds of exotic animals (in a careful, educational, beneficial way, not as simply a collector or whatever you wanna call it) all day long and for Busch Gardens to offer these experiences to the public is just bringing that dream even closer! Kudos to Busch Gardens and all the other facilities that help bring the public closer to understanding and learning about these wonderful creatures!

    As a person who wants to go into the zoo field I would like to thank you for this video. There are a lot of misconceptions about captive animals. Not only in bush gardens but in all American zoos. The animal care team have a true passion for their 365 day job and the animals they care for.

    9:30 - I just got done building houses for some rock hyrax last month. Some people think they're ugly but I think they're adorable. ( AKA rock rabbits ) I'm glad you got a good closeup of their feet. They're structured like an elephants but spread out for gripping. Their toenails are even the same, only their feet constantly sweat and secrete for adhesion to the rocks.

    it is so important for facilities like this to offer these kind of experiences. not only do guests get that once in a lifetime experience with an animal but guests are shown the enrichment given to the animals, they learn so much about them, and the guests can see just how much their caretakers care for the animals. just from the little bit of audio we got, you can tell how knowledgable those caretakers are and how much they really care for their animals. I really love how much Busch garden cares for their animals, its so wonderful

    Thanks, Tim! This was really cool to see. And I bet it was really hard not to touch the Rhino just to feel the hide? Skin? But understand it completely. How awesome for Busch Gardens to invite you! Livin the life man! Livin the life! And so much knowledge!! Ahh so jealous.

      Yeah I don't understand the not touching the rhino part. Like you're not hurting it by touching it. :)

    Hey Tim I don’t know if you’ll see this but my birthday is coming up and I’m going to Aquatica on Saturday so I was wondering if you could go. Obviously I know this is asking a lot but it would make my day if you could go!! I’ve been subscribed since 2014 and I just wanna say keep up the good work and I can’t wait for the baby!!! Also I’ll be there from open to close!
    Thanks😊

    I was on a trip to Tampa 4 days ago and I’m still here! We kept driving by Busch gardens everyday. It’s kinda funny cause I was thinking that maybe you might be there having a great time and you were XD

    We saw Berlingo (spelling)? when he was a baby. His mother was laying on her side hiding him from us. we waited over 20 minutes to try and get a glimpse of him, all the while his mum peering at us over her shoulder. Suddenly she rolled over on her back and there he was. It was like she just decided we could see him. It was worth the wait. Glad he doing ok.
