Thank you brother. I've been a video editor now for 4 years, and I'm still having some hard time getting clients, despite having all the necessary and proven skills. I've been doing the 1st level for those past years. Now I know where I've made a mistake.
I’m currently looking for decent editors for a new channel and I also agree. It’s so hard to find decent editors because everyone is generic and often many use the same style and techniques and are just one trick ponies. Adaptable editors with a variety of styles is rare. Good editing is not just ‘technique’ but involves skills like pace, storytelling etc.
Those are what you call exceptional editors. Multi skilled editors who could be content creators themselves. Those sorts of people usually come with a hefty price tag. You prepared to pay big for big quality?
As a video marketing agency owner, the main problem with the editors is their vision, if as an editor people just look to earn money, then you will get no clients. Whenever working with clients, I make sure to understand their vision which should be practically achievable and measurable. Ofcourse it takes time but with experience we learn more!
This is huge W video. and my input is, it's about to give VALUE! Make the videos for free before you even ask to work for free. make 3-5 or even more videos. make shorts, include thumbnail. Then reach out to the client you want to work with. Give them the material for free. They didn't take any risk at all and see you really want to work with them. i did it myself with 0 experience.
Man..!!!!! Thank you soo much haaa . I literally waited for this type content 🎉 you just made my day😊 and am a beginner for video editing and your video helped alot to look forward in this editor fields. And once again thank you soo much❤ Love from India ❤🎉😊
Your advice is very important. Instead of just showing a portfolio, edit the client's videos or obtain raw material from a project to present in practice with a personal touch, showcasing how you work. Not only does it serve as a portfolio, but it also earns the client's consideration for surprising them with a good and free video.
Damn, this video made me feel like I have actually been doing the absolute correct thing the entire time... Pretty much working towards this exact thing and also interestingly enough, I'm already doing the last tip - where you take a flat rate per video and crank up the editing process - that's the first thing that came to mind and I have been doing it from the start.
Bro that's one of the best tips for editing I have heard. Thanks 💖 But is this not a better choice to edit my own videos on RUclips and earn instead of editing others video ?
It's exactly about that... There are several ways to attract new clients, and the most time-consuming one is the most valuable. I'm from Brazil, and I started exploring the metaverse through cinematic productions. It was practically a year of creating the need for the product on streamers before actually selling the product. Instead of approaching the big ones and offering free videos, I did that with the smaller ones to encourage the work of the little guys. The consequence of this was that the big ones saw good work and finally approached me with the question: How much does it cost? It took 365 days, the tip is, believe it!
Great info as always! I just have one little question: is it okay to include RUclips links to previous work in the outreach email? I’ve heard that oftentimes, emails with links wind up in the client’s spam folder; either that, or they’re weary of clicking on links from someone they’ve never corresponded with. Any advice? Thanks again for all the great value you provide!

7:22 Hi, I'm a 13 year old video editor (dont even know if i can call myself that yet tho) and I have a question. How do you edit someone's video that's already been edited without reaching out to them and asking them for the raw clips in the first place? Or do you just add more effects to the video that's already there?
@redstoneditz Personaly i would recommend you to focus on school and your editing skills first, try improving a lot rn becouse 13 is a very young age and in many countries it would be illegal for you to find a job as an editor anyway. Try to get enough knowledge of editing in the mean time so if you want to go for this passion you will be able to at the age of 16 or 18 - but don't forget to learn for school in the meantime either.
