    Zelda is lovely and her coat is so shiny so you are doing a great job. Nutrition is the most important thing for our pets. Thanks for all the great tips!

      Thank you! I completely agree with you. You don't want to feed your dog/pet any different than you would with any other loved one or child. You are what you eat and pets deserve to have their health too :)

    Hey Paul! My gf and I have been enjoying your channel. We adopted two sister greyhounds. Both black. They’ve been with us month and two weeks now. Zelda and Salem. Thanks for the tips. Very helpful. We enjoy the series. Keep it up!

      Who knew Lord Satan would have such kind words to say!? 😂 thank you, thank you, thank you. Best of luck with the new additions! How old are they?
      Zelda is a great name, if I dont say so myself 😁

      @@PJBchannel what can I say the dark lord has a soft spot for greys. 🤣. They will be 2 in May. Retired racers. Bonded pair sisters. Never been apart. They only raced 7 times each before it became illegal in Florida. We took them in this last January. We are still very much in the training phase. One has separation anxiety. The other is as cool as a cucumber. Polar opposites from each other. Your training tips video was very helpful too! (And funny)
      Yes, I must agree. Zelda is quite the name. 😎 We changed their names the moment we adopted them their racing names just didn’t fit. How old is your Zelda? How long have you had her?

      @@lordsatan2137 I'm happy the videos helped you out and you found the humor in it! Fixing separation anxiety is definitely a slow and steady burn but it'll eventually subside.
      Zelda is 4, her birthday is January 31st 2017. I've had her since May of 2017, since she was about 4 months old.

    Great video! I feed my greyhound a raw diet, but when we’re going on road trips, I love to feed her the freeze dried Origin Tundra. You’ve done your research! Great job ☺️

      Another tip I have, after Halloween I cook up my pumpkin, scoop it out and freeze it into an ice cube tray. When my pup isn’t feeling great, I pop a pumpkin ice cube into the microwave and add it into her food 🎃 got her feeling better in no time!

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  3 года назад

      Thank you, Niki! I'd love to feed her a raw diet, but I know it isn't economically sound for me at the moment. Orijen is the next best option for sure! Nobody wants an unhealthy Greyhound :)

    Great video! We're quite fortunate as our grey who is due to arrive with us soon (never raced) & her trainer has already fed her high quality kibble so she's really used to it. I was interested to learn that greys need higher protein food than other dogs though. (BTW the other items on the ingredient list are probiotics).

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  2 года назад +1

      thank you 😁and good luck with your new pup! How old is she?
      Zelda is such a princess, I've had to add in some chicken breast pieces into her meals to get her started. Hoping your Greyhound isn't as picky! haha
      Yes, those probiotics names really tripped me up 🤣but just as important to their health as the protein.
      Best of luck again and thank you for the kind words!!!❤

    Thanks for the info! I have to remember to keep chicken and rice in stock.
    I've tried 3-4 different kibbles with Phoebe from purina pro plan to orijen and her poops were plentiful and grainy. Got her on victor and she now has instagram worthy poops - nice and firm, not grainy at all, such a joy to behold. I believe it's something one 42% protein, 90% animal?

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  3 года назад

      You should post her poops on Instagram and see how it goes over lol. As for the food, it is all about finding out the right kibble/food combinations for your Greyhound pup, just don't make Phoebe a "fat greyhound"!

    Excellent info thank you. Any views on exercising our hounds? We adopted an exracer, we've had him for a year now. We were told that greyhounds don't need much exercise, 20 minutes 3 times a day, but Freddie absolutely loves his walks and we're doing far more than an hour a day. Welcome any views 👍

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  3 года назад +1

      You're right, they really do not need much exercise. At minimum 2 20-minute walks a day should suffice. I would say to allow them to run around in a dog park, or any large enclosed spaces (one with a fence that is at least 6 feet high), once a week. Other than that you're doing the right thing. I take Zelda for a one-hour walk every day, and that keeps her happy. When we get home she then sprints around the house and then it's back to relaxing and sleeping.

    I was told by the greyhound trust to feed grain free 21% or less protein kibble and tinned sardines in tomatoes

    Zelda is gorgeous and has such lovely manners! She also knows what she wants and, more importantly, how to get it. They train us very well.
    Raw turkey necks are an absolute treat. Put a towel down and give the entire neck to your dog. They are great for helping clean the teeth.
    Many Greyhounds love fruits and vegetables. I swear my first Grey was a vegetarian at heart. My current Grey enjoys some fruit with his breakfast and a bit of salad with his dinner. Sardines are another popular addition. And tripe 🤮
    For diarrhea or constipation canned pure pumpkin (not pie filling) works wonders. A couple of tablespoons mixed in with their food for a day or two and that should sort out your problem (actually their problem!). There is also a dehydrated product called "Firm Up" which has the same effect.

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  3 года назад

      I actually love tripe! Lol and I used to use Firm Up! quite a bit when I was switching Zelda to a new kibble. It definitely does the job!

    wowee Zelda is gorgeous, also total night and day difference to how my boy eats ahahaha, he is a vaccum! The only stuff he really doesn't have interest in is fruits, which I've really only given him to see if I can add in some extra goodies to his food on occasion, so no big deal really, since it's not something I'd be going crazy giving to him. Veggies, he will chomp on carrots occasionally, but he LOVES peas, so it's just nice to know I can give a little extra boost to what I normally feed him.

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  3 года назад

      Thank you so much! Zelda is quite a finicky eater. Unless she is in the mood for what I give her, she'll wait until she gets what she wants. She goes crazy for Dentastix and most times she won't start eating her actual food until she has one to get her appetite revved up lol

  • @bn357

    great video thank you. I have 2 and one can also be a picky eater (the other one would eat until he explodes). I mix dry and raw maybe 30& dry/70% raw. (When I'm not mixing the meat into the kibble (for example giving raw chicken thighs) I found that adding cold or lukewarm water with some fish oil does wonder for them when it comes to the kibble (i.e. covering the kibble level with water), maybe Zelda would prefer it a bit wet too.

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  3 года назад

      I'll have to give that a shot when I run out of meat 😁

    What about greyhound puppies? I want to feed raw but i doubt I'll be able to afford a full raw, so I'd have a partial raw diet. But what requirements do puppies have? I've had mixed advice with puppies and raw foods. When should I start with raw foods?
    Also on your points when the dog is sick and leaky- what if the dog is constipated? Any tips on how to get them bowels working?

    • @PJBchannel
      @PJBchannel  2 года назад +1

      Zelda was fed kibble as a puppy so I continued to use that but transitioned to a higher quality one. I cannot speak from experience of feeding a raw diet to Zelda since I've never had her on one, but I think as long as you slowly introduce it and see how he/she digests it, then you'll know when they're ready.
      If a dog is sick/leaky feed boiled chicken and white rice, that'll clog them up. As for constipated dogs canned pumpkins works wonder and always make sure to have plenty of water available to them at all times.

  • @SonGoku-xi7dv

    why white rice instead of brown? white rice can quickly turns into sugar and just isn't too good for dogs right?
