"Well, that's not the answer I wanted to hear but I appreciate your honesty" - Steph Curry 🤣
Such beautiful comedic timing with his delivery 😂
Wildes looks like dollar store Matt Damon and I mean that as a compliment
If Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe had a kid…
Clicked immediately when I saw that WIldes was a guest.
Im not familiar with him. Is he a writer? Hes got a podcast too or...?
@@enterpassword3313 Also an Influencer and a Gentleman. Wildes does it all.😄😄😄
He knows less basketball than nephew Kyle
He's not very knowledgeable. He's just a pseudo comedic take sports guy. He's entertaining.
@@QuestionEverything562 Very few are actually knowledgeable- even less are entertaining.
Mike Dunleavy never had the makings of a varsity GM.
Klay is a Dallas Maverick!!!
you broke the story to me lol
Terrible move, Klay is cooked
Sooooo ....
Is GS getting Josh Green? Or the pu pu platter of Grimes + Powell + Exum?
If it's Green, are we sure Klay is better than Josh Green?
Does this mean we get Wemby in State Farm commercials? Maybe Cliff Paul and Hector Wembanyama?
And Chris Paul in HEB commercials
32:36 Does Bill not know that Tony Parker played for Charlotte?
Its better to pretend that never happened
Tony got paid 😂 can't blame him for that move that nobody remembers
Cant blame him, that was very forgettable
Just about to post this
I'm pretty die-hard NBA. I must admit I forgot about that myself lol
I love the nick Wright dig 😂😂
When dod it happen in the pod?
@Kodreanu23 forgot the time stamp but when bill kept digging at "why we gotta pretend lebrons not the gm" and wildes had the same smirk he does on FTF when someone calls out LeBron on there
"Charlotte is coming back." Dude they were never here!
They're coming back next season ...to play... Not necessarily to win😂
Draymond is why this is happening to the Warriors.
1. Dray “we won before you, we’ll win after you.”
2. Dray “I want my extension”
3. Dray punch out Poole
Nah they whiffed on their #2 draft pick and decided to keep their kids instead of tracking all of them for real help. Front office has been absolutely atrocious.
he was right about #1 & #2
I’ll never understand the admiration for him. He’s a lackluster basketball player that was fortunate to land on a club that wants him to run from the ball (on offense)
@@Chalk89 casual fan take if that's what you think of Draymond. His antics are awful, but he's a generational defender and out of any player has the BEST chemistry with Steph
@@brandonyee4119 yes, because he doesn’t have to contribute offensively. It’s really not a difficult concept to comprehend. If he was placed on a team that needed him to be a second scorer - is that team going to be good? Absolutely not. He’s a one-dimensional player. If that offends you, maybe your bias is too strong.
if westbrook is the answer then you are asking the wrong questions
One of the best guests ever oh man I’m so
Happy
I'd rather have Castle and two future good Minnesota picks than Dillingham and Castle. The Spurs won the draft. Minnesota is happy but Pop has set up the Spurs to create a dynasty.
Why does Lebron get to compete every year?? He doesn’t! The media just pretend he does
lakers haven’t been competitive since the bubble let’s be honest 🤷🏽♂️ the media just loves to spin that bron narrative cause it generates clicks
@@Biggaveli413bro they were in the WCF a couple years ago. I’m not saying they’re title contenders, but don’t suggest they’re not competitive lmao
@@VerbeekTruther if making it to the WCF is “competitive” to you then congrats young man
@@Biggaveli413I'm 34 and getting to the WCF definitely means that team was competitive 😅 and to be completely real the Lakers could have beat any team in the west besides Nuggets and Dallas in thr playoffs in my opinion
@@Biggaveli413you mean when they made the WCF last year they weren’t competitive? One of the final four teams, not competing eh, care to elaborate how that works
80 seconds in, a Cocktail reference?
Fuck yes!
Lakers 14th?! They drafted Bronny James, Bill!
If I were a Lakers season ticket holder I'd be offended.
You do realize most 2nd round picks don’t even make the team so why are u mad
@@ayeepexxtv5854the problem is this 2nd round pick is going to make the team
That means they’re too high or too low. Cuz theres no way a second round pick affects the lakers in either direction
Bill Simmons will be talking next year about how Bronny and LeBron played a trick on the NBA to get him to the Lakers. About how Bronny purposely played below his skill level to get to Los Angeles in the second round and how LeBron was playing chess to be the first father and son team ever to win a championship.
"Why didnt they just keep Dillingham?" If they kept the pick they werent drafting Dillingham. Its not like they drafted Dillingham and then said ah good deal lets trade him now. Dillingham is a Klutch client. Spurs not getting in that business.
Idk why they're so upset about it. All these analysts made it very clear that this was a weak draft. And next year is supposed to be much better. Spurs have Atlanta's first round along with their own. On top of Charlotte and Chicago's lottery protected first rounds. They can't keep all these draft picks so why would they invest resources into the 8th pick in a weak draft? Especially after they already got the guy they wanted.
yall are saying Giannis is on the outside looking in because his team had an off year.... The problem is Giannis has missed the last two playoffs. If he is healthy... they will be just fine.
Bill still testy about the Warriors beating the Celtics in the Finals.
What a timing 😂
The West is so wide open. I would rank it as Thunder, Minnesota, Dallas, Denver, Phoenix, Clippers, Memphis, New Orleans, Houston, Lakers, Sacremento, Golden State, San Antonio, Utah, Portland. Outside of the top 4, the rest could go any direction.
Phoenix and Clippers are too high.... They're fighting for play in spots
Warriors are in a better position than most teams you listed only the thunder, nuggets, wolves, dallas, and grizzlies better. Maybe San Antonio as a dark horse.
Utah is going to take advantage of that Zach LaVine thing and get a load of picks back for Markkanen.
I assume Draymond is going to be "locked in".
Yeah right.
I'll tell you why it's a bummer. It's a bummer because there's something special about a player that plays his entire career with one team. It doesn't happen often and when it does it's special, especially when you won four titles with that team.
Bill said we should make this a "throw away year"... some one archive this for next June b deadass!! 🏆💯🍀🍻
Everyone talks about next year's draft. Build continuity but I wouldn't want leaps in wins hoping to luck up in 25 draft then go hard afterwards. My guess on SAS thinking
Bill forgetting Tony Parker didn’t play his last season in San Antonio…
Yeah unfortunately it was so weird to see him in a hornet’s jersey
@wavedgoblin it was weird to see him got to Charlotte because he wanted to "compete"
Yeah as a spurs fan that one really hurt, but now we get our payback by getting cp3 for his last season
Y'all make a good duo..ngl
Such a fan of Wildes, I say a clip on Instagram and now I'm here for the smart entertainment 😂 I have to be a guest on his first show he gets. As the ultimate Ball (Bball Fball) fan
name me 1 nba dynasty that didn't end ugly with at least one of the main pieces ending up on a team they had no real reason to be on. Jordan on the Wizards, Scottie on the blazers, Tony Parker on the hornets, Wade in chicago, Pierce on the nets. it always ends ugly.
How did the Bill Russell Celtics end? I had the impression that they all just rode off into the sunset.
Didn't go back to Boston for years because of the racism he experienced while he lived in the city.
Draymond Green needs to go, too. He’s a net negative most games. 🤷🏻♂️🙄🤦🏻♂️
Incredible timing
What happend, Klay went to the Mavs?
@@naughtiusmaximus110yes
Shaedon, Scoot, Clingan, Deni, Ayton, Walker/Murray/Camara/Rupert, trade Rob Williams, Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons next year, and the Blazers are gonna be a fun ass team.
Whole lotta mid, 25 wins max
Take away "fun" and that's your team.
they are definitely gonna be one of the teams in the league 👍🏽
Simons is the only known quantity though. And he can be excellent as a second option
@@tedforsstromjacobsson4160third option. He is mikes below Jamal Murray, Dame, or Tyrese Maxey
It would have been criminally if the Warriors kept Chris Paul and Paid Him $30M next season.
Nice Clyde Drexler slurpee cup, Bill. I see you rocking your old collectibles.
I like Wildes with Simmons. They are a good conversational match.
Bill Simmons has to have the lowest ears in the world
Lebron literally gave a list apparently lol. Jonas Valencunas was on the list lol.
National treasure Kevin Wildes should be on every podcast really. And yes, I’m a KW burner account
They did not mention Markkenen to the Warriors. That would change their place in the West.
I did not think we would see the day the greatest shooting backcourt in history broke up to play on separate teams. 😢
I used to not like Kevin, but he is awesome with Bill
God this is so hard to listen to. Comparing signing Chris Paul for 1 year to what the rockets did is crazy. Spurs have 7 picks in 2025. They can trade up for whoever they want. They don’t care where they end up next year, they just want internal improvement.
Agreed. The only logic here is not Chris Paul as a player, it's Chris Paul as a teacher, veteran leadership, showing young players how to make winning plays with brains and not athleticism. For a young group that makes sense because you are right, they don't give an F about wins next year.
Specifically referring to the Steph conversation: At some point some of these superstars need to realise that their legacy of being associated with a single team for most of their career is far more valuable to them (financially and personally) than chasing another ring with another team.
“Kyle, turn the TikTok camera on!”
Wildes hair is jacked
Sexy cowlick..... it's a new look. Didn't you hear about this???
Lebron was willing to take less money, problem was Klay was willing to take less money too. LOL
Bill, Tony Parker played in Charlotte.
Problem with Russ will always be his scoring. Shoot 7% below league average in TS and take the third most shots on your team, per 100. possessions. Also averages the most turnovers on the team per 100 (4.6).
That contributed to the third highest usage rate on the team (25.1%) behind Goerge (26.6%) & Kawhi (25.5%).
Can't expect to win games when you let a player as inefficient as he is, get so many opportunities with the ball.
If you went ahead and made one of turnovers a true shooting attempts & normalized to the league average 58.0 TS% with Russ's attempts last year. That would account for a three point difference in net rating for those 68 games Westbrook played in.
To try and put that difference in perspective. Net rating of Thunder (7.3), Wolves (6.3), Nuggets (5.5), Clippers (3.4), Rockets (0.9), Lakers (0.6). That doesn't even begin to account for the spacing problems of having him on the court with other non shooting bigs.
You get that with declining defense. As DPM hasn't viewed Russ as a positive defender, since at least 2021.
His raw on/off numbers are somewhat positive (+1.8). So, maybe he gives your team some value in unseen ways. However, could just be noise. And, I don't think the math works or makes sense for Russ to be on your team & still be a legit contender.
I feel like this puts into words why Russ is a net negative player. I don’t watch a ton of NBA anymore but when I watched the Clippers I would see exactly what you described. Russ driving the lane and maybe gets a foul or makes a layup followed by 2 missed jump shots from him.
@@jasonl7937 I watched him a few times this season. First thing that comes to mind is a game where he missed a few layups I thought he should have made.
Don't recall him having much issue getting to the rim. Despite his age. This with his passing is where he provides value on offense.
It's just not enough. Plus, it dries up in the playoffs once teams focus on scheming against your offense. Instead, of scheming to win during the regular season.
Regular season stats:
22 MPG
11ppg/51%TS
4.5AST/2.1TO
In their only playoff series against Dallas - where I assume the lone big cheated of Russ - ...
19MPG
6.3PPG/33.4%TS
1.7AST/1.7TO
Was better in lone previous season playoff series. But, still below regular season numbers (50%TS, sub 2.0 AST/TO ratio). Hence why the Clippers are interested in trading. Very interested I would imagine.
Adding PG is nice and all, but the Sixers only real hope for Finals contention is 1) Embiid actually stays healthy for an entire season/post season, and 2) Maxey develops into a full blown SUPERSTAR. Like, first or second team ALL NBA superstar. Tough ask.
Klay to Dallas is on the same level as MJ to the Wizards. In 20 years, we won’t count it as part of his legacy, cuz his career is practically over
Small thing, Bill, Tony Parker did have that year with the Charlotte Hornets.
the warriors lost in 6 in the second round the year you said they lost in the play in and the year before they won the ship bills gotta know better lmao
Tony Parker played a season for the Hornets
Denver can’t lose KCP without adding anyone and still be a title contender
Warriors wanted to get out of the tax. They did it.
Warriors paid the tax 8 years in a row..since the 2016-2017 season
Nick “here’s a quote from your Wildes’ buddy bill simmons” Wright is watching. The man is dying to be friends with Simmons lol
20:25 that's Russ' biggest problem. He has no ability to tell when is Russ time and when isn't
I'm not a Warriors fan fan but I like the team. I have the same feeling about 30 that Homer had about that one quiet ninja. He is about to do something. I'm not writing him off
Love wildes. Does a great job. But bill why do you have Embiid at 6. Curry ant Durant Brunsun AD all better last year then Embiid. Guy played less than half of the games last season. Tatum has more playoff games in the last 2 seasons then Embiid played last year. I have him at 13 and there is a strong case for both book and Jaylen to be in top 10. You need to put lebron in an emeritus type role. Hes above the list at this point. He’s still the most important player in the nba. Not the best but def most important.
Play to the mavs. Dallas is slowly getting deep and the d is on point too.
Tony parker played with charlotte
They really should blow it up Steph included.
Warriors were in the second round not play in in 2023 Bill
LeBron is such a smart player that he knows working the refs is more productive than running back on D & not constantly leaving his guys in 4 on 5 situations. A 1000+ more FTA's for the Lakers than their opponents shows his genius?
Tony parker played in charlotte
OKC just bought themselves a trip to the conference finals at least
Wildes? HOLY
They need to rip the bandaid and trade curry while he has value. I saw the same thing with Kobe, extended him and he had a 2 year farewell tour. It was sad to see.
After cp3 leaves, he can get traded to San Antonio to replace him
Some see Bridges not missing games as an asset; Tibbs is going to see it as a challenge.
It's not yellow, it's Lakers Gold...
I thought you said the Hawks were trading Trae and Dejounte. Another wrong report from Bill...
6:18...no Bill, they actually lost in the semis to the Lakers. And LeBron.
Intimacy Coordinator, eh? 🤔
Parker was on the hornets…
Not that anyone cares but My order is: Thunder, Celtics, Knicks, 76’rs, Mavericks, Nuggets, Bucks, Timberwolves,Magic, Suns, Heat, Pacers, Kings, Grizzlies, Cavs, Lakers, Clippers, Houston, ( as of 7/1/24)
Tony Parker moved too 😂 . Come on Bill , how much research did you do 🤏🏿 ?
I ❤ wildes lol
Why in TF would Derrick white replace kawhi Leonard on the Olympic team
White would be a nobody if he wasn’t on the Celtics.
I feel like the NBA needs a hard cap. I really hate this luxury tax nonsense
Hard Cap & regulate salaries for nba players first two contracts. (6-8 years). Similar to what MLB does.
@@aaronpeters6209 I mean hard cap on team salaries. More of the way the NFL does it.
@@levantz I agree. Just want a caveat that would allow teams who draft well to be rewarded for doing so.
Best big 3s are OKC and Wolves.
If I was Steph,I would want to change teams. Put me in position where I can win. Him staying with Warriors for the next 5 years doesn't change much. Let him go somwhere where he can win
If they were gonna trade Draymond, they would atleast keep Klay
The critical moment is when the warriors banked on Poole and wiseman. Just imagine where the warriors would be if they traded Poole and wiseman at the peak of their value that offseason after their championship
Every team has what ifs like that if they had perfect future sight.
I appreciate Bill always mentioning Steph playing for Charlotte but it ain't happening sadly unless 1 other all-star at least is coming with him to join Melo
Yep another gap year or two. Maybe try and get Jerami Grant? Try and get another big who can spread the floor & hold up on defense - Signing Jalen Johnson may have been a worthwhile gamble - Make a couple other moves & give Kuminga, Pods, Moody time to mature.
Is what it is for Curry. Who knows what happens if Draymond is more welcoming to KD & doesn't punch Poole. Plus, Wiggins doesn't struggle with off court issues.
Losing Klay is what needed to happen. But, you keep Draymond. Steph plays well with him & his numbers suggest he's certainly worth the contract, if he stays on the court & doesn't alienate other teammates.
You can't lose too much at this point. Still have to move Wiggins. Hopefully he plays better & puts his off the court issues behind him.
Free agents I think Warriors should target. Robert Covington, Miles Bridges (if you can stomach the controversy), Outside shot at Tristan Vukcevic?
If they don't make any big moves. I agree with you, Bill. Next year is the perfect time to tank. Or, blow up the team.
Edit: Did make a smart draft move, by selecting Quentin Post. Missed that. At least they see the future of the league. Where dominant teams will likely have taller guys who can protect the rime & space the floor.
Tony Parker played his last season in Charlotte - not a one team guy.
"If Klay has a chance to go to the Lakers he'll go to the Lakers" Wrong...again
Parker went to Charlotte
imagine watching russ and actually wanting him on your team LOL
As long as LaMelo is on Charlotte, Charlotte is not coming back.
I thought CP AND Thompson would have been perfect for San Antonio if SA wouldn't have to give up anything.
That one title in the bubble is gonna set the lakers back a decade. How you gonna let a player run your whole franchise. A nearly 40 year old too 😂😂😂
How come Steph has to take gap yrs and Lebrin doesn’t? The answer is bc Steph taking gap yrs has shown that it actually works. Whereas Bron pressuring his organization to always compete puts them constantly in a spot where they’re not really competing for a chip, but kinda look like they are. GS reloaded after a yr off and won their 4th.
Bill if you were the lead sports anchor at Fox and Fox wanted to extend you but your co-star was up in the air and you said i really want rusillo or shannon sharpe and i'll take less money if you can get me one of those guys does that mean you run fox? or is it simply you're trying to help your employer put together the best show possible and are willing to consider creative ways to do so.
Letting Klay go makes both Dallas and San Fran worse, honestly. Warriors aren't competitive at all, Mavs take a step back defensively. Glad the Lakers didn't lock in. Chris Paul is even more finished, but will probably teach Victor and maybe even Sochan something. I think the Sixers improved the most, with PG, Maxey, and Oubre locked up. Suns, Lakers, Clippers, and Heat staying put hurts them. If LeBron can talk the Bulls into buying out LaVine and sign him for mid level, they're going places.
Lavine and Vuc would be nice trade dlo, rui, Vincent, and Vanderbilt. Lebron is a point guard this point in his career.
Is it really impossible that Steph may demand a trade this year if the Warriors shows him they are going into rebuild mode.
It is hard to know from the outside what Curry values the most. Does he want to ring chase at the end of his career or be like Kobe and just kinda accept that at the end it's more about getting your bag and cementing your legacy than trying to chase one final ring as a fading star and probably not getting it anyway.
Losing Klay and Paul is an upgrade
Warriors either got to get another All-Star to add with Steph & Draymond, try to win another Championship this year or next year or Blow up the roster and try to compete in a title in the next
3 years or so. Blowup the entire Roster and go with the young players on the team and grow with them
(Kuminga, Podzimski & TJD). Trade Steph to Charlotte Hornets for LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller and Draft picks, trade Draymond to Detroit Pistons for young players and a draft pick, trade
Andrew Wiggins anywhere for a good quality starter. Try to compete for a title for the 2027, 2028 Season.
Westbrook replaces Reggie Jackson on Denver, that's good.
