One of the most beautiful pop songs ever written. One of several masterpieces by the Moody Blues.

    • @arnieperez49
      @arnieperez49 4 года назад +1

The Moody Blues were not pop. They were progressive rock/ space rock or something along those lines.

    • @sayrerowan734
      @sayrerowan734 4 года назад +1

@@arnieperez49 , they were a pop band. You don't know how broad that term was back then.
"The pop music scene was rapidly changing with new and innovative sounds capturing the attention of young record buyers. The Moody Blues had changed their musical direction by early 1967 with Mike Pinder supplementing his piano with a "Mellotron" - a revolutionary and mechanically-complex instrument that used a system of pre-recorded tapes to create a distinctive orchestral/atmospheric sound and was forerunner of today's modern electronic sampling keyboards."

You are the only person I have even known to call their song a pop song, but it's not that big of a deal. We can agree to disagree.

@@arnieperez49 I think the term pop has changed somewhat over time. I was talking to my daughter about music the other day and she said something wasn't pop and I said pretty much anything that was played on the radio, excepting classical music, back in the 60s, 70s and 80s was pop with a lot of divisions of genre.

I just discovered this video series/channel/podcast. Your Christian faith shows. This, and your interesting and quality review of the Moody Blues is why I just subscribed.
‘Question’ is just one of the many and most incredible musical productions written and performed by the Moody Blues. Humanity is blessed with music over the thousands of years. The 50 years of Moody Blues music encapsulates a big part of that history.
Kudos to Vin and Sori for this excellent review of the song ‘Question’ and exploring the lyrics. The song was fit to hear in 1970 and just as important now in 2023.

As an old hippie, I can say you are right on about how I look back with mostly disappointment. One thing you should also factor in... ofc, we were naive (as most young people are), but we also saw quite a bit of change as a result of "hippie" influence on politics of the time. (Changes & then doing away with the draft, withdrawal from Vietnam, huge change in views of marijuana, freedom in style of dress, hair, etc). The amount of influence made us believe (naively) that the age of "peace & love" was coming. Ironically, we were closer to it then than now, in most ways.

This is my favorite video of all the ones I've watched you guys do. I was tearing up over and over, both because of the importance of the song in my life, and because of the reason you did the reaction. Beautiful thing you did with your vid you did for JP, as well as doing this reaction to his favorite song.
I think I understand why you chose this particular live version, because of your comment that JP loved seeing The Moody Blues in concert over the years, to "see the old guys still pull it off". But I hope you will check out 2 other live versions, which I will link below.
Also, if you will allow me correct a common misunderstanding about the lyrics at one point.....
Most people (except for old hippies like me who have the original vinyl, with a separate lyrics sheet inside the album cover) think the line goes like this:
".....Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the wall of love is for"
    The actual words are:
".....Because the truth is hard to swallow
That's what the WAR of love is for"
In both of these beautiful live performances, you can easily see and hear that he is singing "war of love", not "wall".
    1970 performance
    ruclips.net/video/QdgnR-RNcOg/видео.html&ab_channel=CalVid
    1985 performance
    ruclips.net/video/ue8hBN9vcV8/видео.html&ab_channel=pointreven
    Just so you know!
Thanks again for a beautifully done and very sweet reaction video!

Oh geez guys... what a way to start off the day (in a good way)! I thought "wow! A Moody Blues reaction!" and then learned it was connected to a very moving situation regarding your fan JP. I've said it before in other comments for other videos that I am not a Christian, but i very much respect the humanity you apply to your "flavor" of Christianity. Maybe the church wouldn't be so castigated if more Christians were like you. As much as I like other reaction channels like Soul Train Bro and Lost In Vegas, your channel is special in a very different and more meaningful way. Keep it up!

I bought the 45 of this song when it first came out, and I never get tired of it. A couple of things to note... this performance is about 20 years old. There are much more recent live performances out there, with the personnel changes that happened not too long after this show was filmed.
A couple of things to watch for. A fan tradition with this song is that the audience sings along during the slow section (if you listen closely, you can hear it). Also, watch the transition from the slow section back to fast. Justin plants his feet firmly and braces himself before he starts in on the fast and furious strumming.
Finally... the song was created when Justin combined two partly-written song fragments, both in the key of C, one slow, one fast, into one song.

I hope someday some kyuss and early Queens of the Stone Age make it on.
Kyuss- " Gardenia" is so awesome- maybe I am getting old and no one really remembers them.
Queens of the Stone Age - " Feel good hit of summer- a track that Rob Halford called a " rock and roll cocktail" and joined in on the chorus, but the track just has him on the last ones.
The " r" album ( cover shows " restricted," like movies in the 80's and 90's would show before every preview) has Scott Weiland also.
QotSA's first album is the best- self titled, with a dark- skinned woman with " man hands"pictured on the album cover. It has the track " regular john" on it.
    It is awesome.
When in an interview back in the late 90's, a member was asked " why on earth do call yourselves " QotSA""? The response was" well, if we called ourselves " Kings of the Stone Age, we would have to dress up like " Manowar".

Im only 37 but I grew up in a classic rock and blues house and when I hear that music it brings me back to being a kid. My first concert was Aerosmith and the first tape I bought was Aerosmith toys in the attic from the now closed coconuts/peaches. I the basement of the building was a haunted house and that was my first job was working in the haunted house at the age of 15. The people that I worked with in the haunted house helped to introduce me to Metal and what would become nü-metal. I was hooked and continues my metal journey When I joined the Marines. I met other metal heads who introduced me to other sub genres of metal. Then I came home on leave and took my little brother to Ozz Fest 2004 and he got hit in the eye by a drum stick thrown out during slipknots set on the second stage (not even a main stage act yet). But man did me and my brother fuck that pit up.

The best way to listen to tte Moody Blues is to listen to the album..Days of Future Passed..so many good songs, but they blend one into another in a way different than listening to them apart
