Incredibly clear. I loved that you used multiple examples to demonstrate different uses. Also helped me recognize the pattern of using it. Thank you so much
I am always confused between map and forEach , this video gave me some insights of map function , looking forward to your next videos to clear my doubts , BTW great content , Keep posting these amazing helpful contents
This was a really fantastic, consice explanation and I understood more quickly than I did after a long while of reading through online articles on the subject! Really appreciate it!
Thank you for the great explantation of how a map works, and for the tip regarding the shorthand arrow function without the return if you only want one thing! This will help me a lot
Dude your explanation was so mindblowing...im Brazilian so i get most of my classes in portuguese but everytime i dont understand a concept i get some english classes and they are SO MUCH better to explain my doubts. Dont know if is a limitation of my language or if my teachers suck so much ass to explain.
Haha I guess learning programming in English is easier sometimes, because of the language used in programing generally (so English). Also, James is a terrific teacher!
Great video! I have one question...how does it not return undefined when the arguments being used are 'character' instead of 'characters' which is the name of the initial array? when i wrote this code out it didn't work unless the argument was the same name as the array.
did you have to install the font inside VS code to get the proper styling in its built-in editor just like in iTerm, Hyper or the terminal that came with the OS?
I'm undertaking a bootcamp right now and this refresher is really nice. I forgot you can use an implicit return for anoymous functions. I'll definitely make use of that. And yes, folks; Array methods are crucial, especially map when making tables and filtering data. And it isn't even just Javascript but Python as well(which I started coding before going to Javascript.). Good work.
Great. Thanks But one thing you did not mention for all array functions used in this playlist is that, if a given condition is not met or tests false, what kind of value is returned by those functions like an empty array in this case "Map" function.
Hi man, thanks for this explanation video and I just followed your code but when the last part to get all the first name (characters) => characters.name.split(" "[0]); it returns to me an array but with 2 elements inside it like this: 0: (2) ['Luke', 'Skywalker'] 1: (2) ['Darth', 'Vader'] 2: (2) ['Leia', 'Organa'] 3: (2) ['Anakin', 'Skywalker'] but when I change it to characters.name.split( " ", 1); it works and the result with all the first name with 1 element inside the array. maybe you can give me a little hint how is that happen, and any help would be appreciate. Thank you very much :D
Dumb question: How do you get array results into the html though?... like on the page for people to see? What do I have to search to find out how to do that?
const characters = [ { name: 'Luke Skywalker', height: '172', mass: '77', eye_color: 'blue', gender: 'male', }, { name: 'Darth Vader', height: '202', mass: '136', eye_color: 'yellow', gender: 'male', }, ] need only luke as output how can we do using map,filter. output : ['Luke']
const characters = [ { name: 'Luke Skywalker', height: '172', mass: '77', eye_color: 'blue', gender: 'male', }, { name: 'Darth Vader', height: '202', mass: '136', eye_color: 'yellow', gender: 'male', }, ] need only luke as output how can we do using map,filter. output : ['Luke']
JS is getting easier and easier for me to understand with tutorials like this, so thank you!
So glad to hear that!
its been a year, id like to know how you are getting on?
Incredibly clear. I loved that you used multiple examples to demonstrate different uses. Also helped me recognize the pattern of using it. Thank you so much
Had no idea you could return a full object with map. Great stuff!
This very good ,simple ,practical and very easy to understand , thanks so much for the video 😁

Yo this video was great I needed this thanks man!
Thank you for providing a simple explanation of this!
Fantastic job on explaining, thank you very much! Separate thank you for the SW :) What plugin are you using for changing your arrow to a nice one?
Yeah! Glad you enjoyed it. Those are called font ligatures. You can turn them on in your VS Code settings
@@JamesQQuick Great, I appreciate your reply :) Just have set, works like a charm
Thanks. That last practice example was the best.
Got what I was looking for! Thanks!!!!!
Yeahhh!!
Loved this! Explained very well.
Really love this video, thank gorgeous human being for this marvelous content. The star wars reference make it more easy to understand.
Yayy!!
This was incredibly helpful. Thank you
Thank you so much for this! 😄
I am new to your channel. Thanks alot. Yes I pressed that big reb button
Watching your and Navin Reed video really helped me understand the concept on codecademy
What if I need to change just one property value and then return the entire object array with the new values?
Awesome video! Can't wait for the "reduce" method.
Coming up :)
Where this man has been ? Found This Brilliant man who is really Nice in Teaching the pure JavaScript 😍😍
haha glad it's helpful!
thank you for this video. Super helpful!
Amazing tutorial! Thank you
Thanks a lot James🤩

Incredibly done.
What plugin/extension do you use to get the resizing cursor?
Thanks really helped me
Great. Thanks

Ahh interesting. Well functions by default return undefined so I’m assuming that lol
@@JamesQQuick but "map" and "filter" return an empty array by default.
THANK YOU
Great Video!
Thanks a lot, really learned a lot :-)!
Can you explain why you have mass and height values as strings? Im new to js and dont know why not just numbers
Very good bro thanks
You are great. Thank you
how do you add the lambda arrow ( => ) in such a nice way on vs code??
thank you good sir!
great content. this is what i need. auto subscribe!
this was perfect
man, thank you so much:)
Great content! I really like this kind of videos, straight to the point! 🙂
Glad you enjoyed it!

lol your intro for this series makes siri play music (from 00:25 - 00:32) XD
This is awesome
Why didn’t I find this video sooner!!!
Thank you
I wish you could be my mentor!
Ok, I can console.log The minifiedRecords, but how do you convert the name & height object to an innerHTML or show it on a web page?
Well you’d have to get a reference to that dom element. Then set its innerText property to a string that includes those values.
@@JamesQQuick Thanks!
This video and all the other coding videos on youtube😅are very useful if one is planing to make population controll.
lol what does that even mean?
Fantastic
What is the extension for the fancy arrow functions and the triple equals?
They’re don’t ligatures. It’s a setting that you can turn on if your font supports it
@@JamesQQuick got it. And I'm rock"n Fira. If only I knew how to code.
Nice Video !!!!
const characters = [
{
name: 'Luke Skywalker',
height: '172',
mass: '77',
eye_color: 'blue',
gender: 'male',
},
{
name: 'Darth Vader',
height: '202',
mass: '136',
eye_color: 'yellow',
gender: 'male',
},
]
need only luke as output how can we do using map,filter.
output : ['Luke']
perfect
please tell the vscode theme very nice
3:55 can't understand why you added the parentheses
how do you get the returns in the terminal¡?=?¡
I'm using the Quokka VS Code extenion
You should do .sort()
Coming up tomorrow or the day after :)
I got lost in the last part, I though split only worked in strings :c
Not sure where the github link is ...
Its the tiny url. I'd just select it and go to it, then clone the repository in VS Code.
you goddamn beautiful, beautiful, man. thanks bro.
This is object in arrays

I also do videos about programming!😁
