Thanks Lee it's very helpful to see someone put it together just waxed mine and am hoping to assemble it tomorrow I almost feel like a child waiting for Christmas day
Glad I found your video - my Kiwi 3 will arrive on Wednesday. After viewing a few videos on assemby, I can honestly say YOURS is the only one that actually shows the assembly as the instructions are written - with parts laid out before hand and assembly actually following the instructions - very helpful! Thank you so much
@@createwithfibre1803 Thank you! I will look for that as it's been almost 20 years since I spun on a wheel. I had an Ashford wheel before, but lent it to someone, who then moved away and took it with her - so I never got it back! Since then, I have spun on a drop spindle, but couldn't afford another wheel until now - I'm trying to remember everything - lol!
Thanks for sharing your expertise. I managed to assemble the spinning wheel until I tested it and found that the wheel spins off the crank each time I spin the wheel. I would appreciate your help in this matter. Thank you
I just put mine together yesterday but wanted to be sure I didn’t miss anything. I appreciate this fabulous video and I didn’t know there was a place for the Allen wrench. Yay now it is always at hand. Thank you! I did stretch out one of the springs by mistake when I put the drive band on ugh. I was putting it on from behind and placed it over the bobbin. It is now stretched and should not be. Do you think this will be a problem. Do I need to replace it?
There was no explanation of how to treat the wood on the natural finish version. I’ve seen wax mentioned, and also Danish Oil. Which is best and how do we apply them? Thanks. Mine is ordered, but not arrived so I can’t read the instructions just yet.
Natural varnish or wax and ideally do it before assembly as per the instructions that come with the wheel. We paint matt varnish on then wipe off immediately. Sand down lightly once dry and repeat. Tbh this video is just about how to put the wheel together because that part is not always clear if you are not good at reading instructions. Its is our effort to reach out and help people with assembly as some do struggle with it. Hope that helps you.
@@createwithfibre1803 thanks so much. I loved the video as it is so clear! And thanks for the tip of doing the waxing before assembly. It totally makes sense
Have just finished building the wheel using the instructions that came with it, and your video, and it’s done! Yay! I’m exhausted now (old lady) so I won’t be trying to use it until recovered.
I wish I didn't have a question because no one else does but why wouldn't you just hook the second spring to the eye then run the brake band wire through the other end of the spring and wrap around the brake?
Thank you!!!! This was so helpful! It also was very pleasant to listen to your accent while assembling this wheel. ☸️🛠️
This was the best Ashford Kiwi 3 assembly video I could find, and I checked out a lot of them. Thanks so much!
Thank you for sharing your expertise on putting together the Kiwi 3. I feel much more confident to do this myself.😊
Thanks Lee
