Bateman Horne Center has partnered with the University of Utah Health to conduct a Long COVID and Post-Viral Syndromes ECHO (Project ECHO). This series delivers information to healthcare professionals utilizing short didactics and case-based learning to enhance their ability to manage patients with long COVID, ME/CFS, FM, and related comorbid conditions.
Anthony Komaroff, MD, Simcox-Clifford Higby Professor of Medicine, Harvard Medical School and Senior Physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital discusses:
    - How the symptoms of long COVID are shared with other post-infectious syndromes
    - The underlying pathophysiological changes in long COVID
    - The possible triggers of long COVID, including reactivation of latent viruses
    - How the underlying pathophysiology of long COVID causes its symptoms
Note to community members: We advise viewers to always speak with their medical care team prior to making any adjustments or changes to their current regimen.
Bateman Horne Center’s involvement in this program is made possible with the additional support of the Open Medicine Foundation.

To his question on LDN: I am ME/CFS & Long Covid contracted pre vaccine. Yes I use LDN. Took just 8 weeks to normalize CRP levels. Important to me it addressed brain fog. Almost eliminated daily crash naps. Gives me insurance policy against cytokine storm if I get reinfected probably. For now will continue to use. It's so safe we don't need to wait for the pending studies. 60% improvement for me.

I would rethink your decision if I were you: it sounds like your doctor is trying to help you by seeing if Paxlovid might get rid of possible viral pieces in your body (it is an antiviral medication that they are studying in clinical trials now) and giving you an antidepressant (an SSRI specifically) may help with neuro inflammation and can help with mood too to help cope with being a long hauler which is hard. Partnering with our doctors is all that we can do at this point. Stay strong.

There is a related compound called dextro-naltrexone. My understanding is that it is a sterioisomer of naltrexone which is active at microglia receptors (like ordinary naltrexone) but has no activity on opiod receptors. Because of this it is not limited to the same low doses that ordinary naltrexone is prescribed at making it an attractive alternative to LDN. Do you know of any research papers that discuss dextro-naltrexone?

    • @lauragott2122

Yes, I've had EBV and CV infections. Auto immune with psoriasis and neuro antibodies, PEM now worse after CV along with allergies and persistent cough/phlegm that I did not have b4 CV; Balance issues, migraines, ortho hypotension, tachycardia, dizziness and bad brain fog. Short term memory dysfunctional, focus on tasks on bad days quite distractible. The analysis Dr. Kaufman makes that he thinks the patholgy in both long CV and EBV/MECFS are the same, I agree wholeheartedly with. Same symptoms in both. I really feel that the inflammation, esp. in the brain, is attributed to the latent/reactivated infections since symptoms are sooo long term. Most of mine have been ongoing since 1987. Also possibility of micro-clots causing them. I'm doing grain free Paleo diet for gluten sensitivity, has helped the psoriasis.
