    Drill Sgt, I just wanted to offer some insight into the Crucible since they really did not show it too well in the video here. I completed bootcamp at MCRD San Diego about a year ago.
    Day 1: We head out from the barracks around 0300 with our main packs (60-80lbs) to the FOB for the Crucible, approximately a 6 mile hike. We set up our hooches, divide into squads, and then each Drill Instructor leads their squad to their first events, majority of them being a 3 mile hike away from each other. I did an obstacle course, medevac/ medical 9 line exercise, and land navigation. Once night fell, we did a combat obstacle course. Drill instructors lobbed flares and training grenades everywhere, shot off blanks into the sky, war sounds blared over the speakers. The course took about 45 mins to complete per person. I have never been able to fully wash out the mud and blood stains from that course LOL. That night we slept for about 3 hours.
    Day 2: We did the majority of our hand to hand combat this day. We had Pugil sticks and the boxing ring, as well as a rifle range simulating holding the line from oncoming attackers. We had a puzzle exercise as well, and that night we did an offensive rush type of training where we sped through an obstacle course of trenches and barbed wire with a fire team to reach a final objective as a team as efficiently and fast as possible. We slept for about 3-4 hours again that night.
    Day 3: The next day we did the John Basilone challenge (Carried about 100 ammo cans of varying weight and size up the side of a steep mountain) as a squad, that was the biggest slayer of an exercise in my opinion. We also did some more objective based team building courses throughout the day, then got back to the hooches around 1000, slept until 0030, and headed out for the final time for our Reaper hike.
    We hiked about 4 miles from the FOB to the base of the Reaper. We first started our climb around 0300, and it turned into every man and his motivation to get to the end goal. I helped one of my buddies up the first leg of the mountain since he sprained his ankle but EMS ended up taking him. After so many ups and downs and steep inclines, we finally made it to the top. In my platoon, about 85% of us made it on the final hike. When your DI hands you your EGA and says "Congratulations Marine", its a pretty damn special feeling.
    I am not trying to say that what we do is harder or better than what you have experienced, I just fully believe that this video on Boot Camp short sells it by a lot.

    They continue to train day through night that’s how there’s “little sleep” during the crucible. Night events and night hikes
    I’ve trained them
    I like seeing reactions ... I’d like to go to an army basic, I’m pretty sure coast guard would be interesting they’re one of the most difficult from what I’ve observed.

    This is interesting. But I'm a army guy and I think I might go to Benning because its home of the infantry. Plus I live closer to benning. Idk, marines is not for me. In a year or so I'll be going to basic and enlisting. Already talking with my recruiter. But I like watching videos like this and I love the comparison of the two branches.

    Army boot camp has weird vocabulary. I saw a army boot camp video and the platoon had to do push-ups. The army DI's said front leaning position or something like that. When I was in Marine boot the DI's would say push and that's it.

      That stinks. But I'll be honest. The service ain't about seeing the reactions of your family when you graduate. And Basic training is like a drop in the bucket of crud you must drink during your time. Take it in stride, there'll be bigger disappointments in your career.

    I've never heard of "getting slayed" I've heard IT'd, smoked, kill'd, or quarterdecked but never slayed.
    You do do night stuff during the crucible, for 3 days you walk like 50 miles, get one mre a day, and sleep only 8 hours total. It's fun though. The only time you sleep is the hump before the reaper.

    • @SavageJoe1775
      @SavageJoe1775 4 года назад

    • @js5072
      @js5072 4 года назад

      @@SavageJoe1775 jeez, from what I heard the forge is harder, but it makes sense, you gotta put all that training in 10 weeks whereas marines have 13 weeks and then a month of mct if pog. So that's a lot more training but way less rushed.

    There's no family day for the Navy once we graduate that's when we actually have liberty granted and if you're A School is in Great Lakes you go and just check into said A School but if you're A School is in a different state you sleep in your compartment and you get on a bus to go to the airport at 0400 in Dress Whites

    I still remember my family day when I saw my family I had to bite down on my cheeks to prevent me from smiling. I remember marching to Kanell Field around 6am if I remember correctly. We were outside of the field and there were already parents outside waiting when we didn't start until 9am. When we got there we were split up by platoons and some people got the flags ready and others like my platoon had to unload the duce of all of the Split ops's(which included mine) duffle bags. After all of that was done we ran through what we were going to do a couple times. Then we went back in the woods from where we would walk out from and we waited then we marched out onto the field. All of us that their family's came couldn't wait to see them. After we did the DAC or whatever the acrimony is for Drill and Ceremony and they announced which platoon one we were released to our parents. We had 10 seconds to get to the other side of the field and leave and if we were still there we were going to get dropped. I lowkey wanna go back to A 1-50 to see my DS, but I might get the chance because I leave in 49 days to go back to Ft Benning for AIT which I can't wait for. It will be 12 more weeks of hell, but worth it
