    I love my Alto TS212s. I just purchased a Alto TS212W to go along with themso I can have a quality sounding blue tooth capable speaker for things like a cocktail hour instead of using my little American Audio 8 go bt for that. I have had no problems with the TS212 and have done about 25 gigs with them so far.. Also, I will say that I A Bd them against the EV ZLX...These Altos sound better. The ZLX does go a bit lower on the bass, but the ZLX BASS also distorts at real high volumes. Also, I just deejayed a 700 student dinner/dance with a pair of these, and a air of Alto TS215s with a pair of subs included. You can easily do events with well over 120 guests with a pair of TS212. Best sounding speakers under $500! I recommend a Sub at events over 100 in size and larger, but with a pair of these and a Alto TS212S Sub, 250 guests no problem in a square/rectangular open ballroom. I know because I did that last month.

    I've had mine for almost 4 years and I bought them with subs. I can say this with confidence that these speakers do fill a room that accommodate about 300 - 400 people quite nicely. However it depends on your way of mixing sound. done a few bands at different venues. I love the sound. Only had to replace 1 tweeter.

    Good review on the TS212. I've had a pair for over a year, no problems. They sound great. The HF divers going bad could be due to setting the volume past the 12 o'clock position. Past the 12 position is used for mic inputs per Alto specs. Overall these speakers are great for the beginning DJ / musician as well as the experienced DJ. Paired with a sub woofer or 2 they sound even better.

    These speakers are gd for a gig of about 80 to 100 people...More than that you have to add a subwoofer.....Anything in the 200 people range you don't raise the volume you get a third and or 4th speaker to fill the void...This method will keep you from over heating the amps and gives you longevity....next time you go clubbing look to the ceiling and watch how many speakers they have ...

    Good honest review bro... I've had a QSC system for 3 years now and never had a single complaint or problem with the the K12's or the KW181's. (two of each)I push them pretty hard sometimes and they just keep on sounding like the day I bought them new . EV is great stuff but the issues I've seen with most of the EV gear is that they shut down when pushed too hard. If you can splurge a little, go with QSC .

      rudycorraudio the K12s and ekx that I'm planning on getting are about the same price and one of the reason I want them over the QSCs is that they sound a little more rich, especially for a live singer and I'm planning to incorporate providing sound for live singers into my business.

    Blown tweeter is not your fault, it supposed to have limiter in it, so that's BS.

      I have the Altos TS115A and read a thread where many were blowing the subwoofers on them...One person realized they were crossing the line to Mic...To prevent that from Happening to me i took a red Sharpie and colored a red line on the mic side..never had any problem...I will further state that at this price point they are the best sounding speakers..If you find you have to raise the volume to get more volume you will clip them and blow them..Get a gd subwoofer (not Alto).. I recommend Yorkville and these will shine even better.

    I think the Mackie Thumps are better. Never, ever heard of the the Thumps blowing a tweeter and having input issues. And the clarity and bass on the Thumps are pretty dam good.

    I found out these tweeters are only 30 watts at 8 ohms but heres the thing the amplifier is 200 rms for the tweeter just buy a different tweeter and put it in yourself.

    Thanks for posting this.. I was worried about the tweeter thing i heard but im also confident i could wire in a new one if such were to happen. These also have slightly more power and slightly lower frequency response than the ZLX, which got me interested in them originally. Would you still say the ZLX 12p's are louder and bassier than the altos?

    • @Maanijak
      @Maanijak 8 лет назад

      Matt Swindler on paper the Altos have higher wattage, but in actuality that limit indicator comes on before they can achieve the same loudness as the zlxs I would suggest listening to them side by side

      Thank you for your quick replies. Last question, hows the bass with no subs on the zlx12s compared to the altos? Subbed/liked! :)

      the bass on the ts212s is ok zlx having slightly more. with subs the ts212 it is great and is powerful enough for large crowds.

    I thought it was just me. I was questioning my abilities as a sound guy/dj. Yes, they look good. I originally bought two. I blew the tweeters the second time using them. I sent them back to Numark, and replaced them with a brand new pair. Then I blew the tweeters on those. Somehow, Numark sent me back the original pair refurbished. I blew one of the tweeters last month. Prior to getting these, I ran my own passive system for 10 years and I never blew any speakers, so I thought it was just me not doing something right with the new system. I don't really know anything about replacing speaker components, but it may be worth it to replace the tweeters myself. It cost more to ship them to Numark. Plus I need some tweeters that aren't trash. I should have spent the extra money to get the EV. Luckly, my Harbingers have been there to save me at each of those gigs, and they actually sound better.

    I think i have blown my tweeter!! How much did it cost you to replace the tweeter? could it be done at home ?

    • @TheGregagain
      @TheGregagain 7 лет назад

      Jack Churchwell you can get the teeters online from full compass online. It is like $25 & super easy to replace. You remove grill but you need a hex wrench to remove grille hex screws. Next remove woofer screws & remove wire . Push back insulation & you'll see the location of the tweeter.
      Lefty loosy unscrews the tweeter from the speaker body. Remove silver heat sink off back of tweeter & put on new tweeter & replace everything in reverse order

      Replace it from the back, not the front. Just take of the back panel and you can see what you are doing. Very straight forward.

    amazing all the diffrences of oppinions ...i run the shit out of 2 12in and 2 15 in and they still bang almost a year hard every week i had the old ones as well...thats what i hate about you tube too many fucking voices ..i love these speakers but what i find is that dudes will always eventually shit on these speakers for a more legendary name not sure why but my clients love them regular and high end events it maybe peer pressure to display a big brand like qsc but these fuckers have made me thousands in karaoke and dj...search andre bryant icon mobile music

      well that is the thing, i am not trying to sell anyone anything. I am stating what has happened to me, and as i hear many other people. I would love to be able to tell people yes the speakers i own are the best, but that would be a blatant lie, based on my experience. If you watch my original video, i was so excited about these, while i was unboxing them, and they proved, at least to me that they are not as good as some other brands. i dont think i ever compared them to QSC's K series, because they are very different in many ways, especially in price.

      andre bryant I couldn't agree more. I have been using the first generation altos ever since they hit the market. I continue to use them and they continue to impress. I too am still making money with mine and I push them pretty hard most weekends. I never bought the new ones because if it ain't broke, leave em' alone lol. One love man.
