Booking agents are technically salesmen, they try to sell you as an artist to club/festival and if they feel like you can make them money then you will definitely get booked again. Thanks Luke for sharing this info with us young DJ/Producers!
As a dentist they owns my own business, I love seeing the parallels between your industry and mine. Success is so much about hard work AND building the right team!
Great advice! Additional tip: properly read your agency contract, the length of the contract and don't be scared to question the agency. I've had contracts that last 3 years and if you want to leave within those 3 years, the agency will still take 50% of your booking fee, even though they had nothing to do with getting that booking. A year and a half is a good start for joining an agency imo :)
Known of LaidBack Luke for years and this guy is the real deal. Thanks for sharing these amazing videos. Definitely would like to see more content like this 🙏
Its always good to have these amazing people who create a easy way to show the industry. And so humble about it, thats what we need. Humble artists who teach the young talents.
#LaidbackLuke please tell more about the business side of DJing/Producing. like how does the artist management works?? How a artist can approach to all these booking managers and managements!? and so many other stuff!! ❤️
Really appreciate you posting this. As a booking agent myself for an agency that my business partner and I started, this is really informative and more people should know about the work we do. Keep up the grind!
can you explain how to release 1 track on mutable labels because i've noticed the same tracks on a small handful of different labels but how does the money work if everyone is releasing the same track?
these videos are dope! Getting to see behind the scenes of the music industry is really neat. it would be dope if you could interview venue owners, lighting, visuals and sound techs, promoters, stage managers ect!
1st time commenting. Best video for me. You bring so much knowledge to the table. Not only for new Djs/Artist but for more experience people that have been doing this for a while. Thank you for sharing.
Top man as always & you look cool both with and without your hats !. Maybe I will sign up with your guys soon. 2019 Will be my year of getting back into the scene and doing events.
Half way through and this is such an amazing video! Ive been working on my "Unique Story and what's special about me" lately and I'm glad you brought this to a video to confirm I was on the right track getting ready to release everything I've been working on. This got me super excited that I was on the right track. Thanks Luke!
I think it’s cool idea to wear your hat only for everyday basis. By then you’re super-friendly-neighborhood Lucas van Schepingen, when you take the hats off, you’re a kick-ass-superstar Laidback Luke!
This is great! Thanks Luke! I remember speaking to someone from Paradigm (Austin, Tx) awhile back via email and I really dislike the old school aspect of Paradigm, that you have to be referred by "word-of-mouth" from someone who has connections with them, in order to be considered to join the Paradigm roster. I was really bummed, since I live in Houston, I rarely play any shows, and I'm mostly my bedroom releasing records. 😑
Hey Laidback. I really love your Vlogs. I've got a simple Question: Did you make some Mistakes in your career (for example: wrong festivals or wrong technic stuff at the beginning) ? Thanks for sharing. Greetings
Thanks Laidback Luke, I send my demo in your website, I am from mexico, but i am living in Melbourne Australia, I know that you will love this song, is one of my dream meet you
Ironically after speaking to you at Derry backstage here I am looking at getting signed with an agent and wanting all the information I can get for us (Audio Chaserz) , Hope to see you again sometime soon bro
Question for a dj like my self who doesn’t produce music, how would anyone know your good, like is there someone or somewhere you can send your mixes to or how could that work?! I want to play a gig but how do i know im even good enough. I guess my question is how do know when your ready ,without getting feedback? Where could you get feedback?
This was very informative. Thanks! Can you explain how to do a radio show/podcast? I see some DJs who have weekly radio shows and podcasts and they seem very involved in it. Then I hear some DJs with mechanical/autogenerate playlist style weekly shows with no vocal input in it whatsoever, they don't even speak on their shows. Can you show us how to make a radio show or a podcast? Some even seem to use agencies to make their radio shows/podcasts,.... what can I do as someone starting out? Thanks.
I have a Question: How do you or another artist feel about crowds not showing up? Do you still perform with motivation if no one is watching or just go to another event? I would really love to know! :D
If you are signed by an agent you would have already gone through the warm up slot phase of playing to no one in a room before the main dj it’s all part of the process
Please...excuse me for my English :D The real problem is that many booking agents want to invest in DJs celebrities only. They won't risk promoting a dj without fame when... its work is just that. A celebrity DJ doesn't need a lot of help: he sells himself by his name. Today work the numbers only. Social status at first. I began 26 years ago and I made a lot of things. Then, the spotlight is stopped and no agent wants to invest if you don't have fame
I live in Tennessee, there is no. music station that plays dance/edm... My personal preference is Techno/Trance. Do I live in a secluded caged area or is Trance/Techno popular in other areas of the world? Ur good without the cap. no grays I can see.
It's like almost impossible to get a booking agent. Know people with countless records on multiple big labels (top of their game) and still can't get a booking agent. If you don't have at least 10k followers (at minimal minimal) on social media they won't even consider you.
This is a cool vlog but i still have some unanswered questions, I'm getting support on my tracks and the plays are racking up each track i put out but nobody seems too be reaching out to me and booking me for clubs which is what i want.. ? I'm sending my tracks to labels (mixmash included) but i'm just constantly getting rejected and thinking of giving up, i'm the guy that won the Tiesto comp for the decks which i was really happy about !
I would love to know how you prep ur track collection for some. Of ud with tons of music it's hard to figure out an efficient way to keep them. Organized
Hey LaidBack Luke, I've been mixing for almost 5 year and now i want to start to produce my own songs, i would like to ask you, What would be your advice on which Daw should i get? Also what synthesizer? Thanks for your vlogs they have been really helpfull for me lately
Hey luke, hope you doing well. I have a question. How can we get a manager? Im making music for 7 years now, so i want to take my music into another lvl.
Question: Isn't the talent manager responsible to get a gig for an artist? I'm just confused with the role of a Manager and a Booking agent. Please shed some light to this. Thanks :-)
hey luke, your demo drop can only take song's in that are 2000 kilobytes or under, but most of my song's fill way more than that. if there is any way i could send it to you in any other way it would be nice.
We want more of these interview vlogs!
Id like with a dj/edm artist like he did once with Afrojack about the pre-recorded sets stuff
I make music check me out??

Bro. One of the dopest songs I've ever heard is break down the house. I'm telling ya, GOAT
can you explain how to release 1 track on mutable labels because i've noticed the same tracks on a small handful of different labels but how does the money work if everyone is releasing the same track?
most of those are promotion labels/agencies as opposed to official labels

Hey luke! Are you going to begin touring with the SC5000Ms?
What’s the title of the bass house track heard at the beginning and the end of the video? It’s so good.

Hey luke, hope you doing well.
I have a question.
How can we get a manager?
Im making music for 7 years now, so i want to take my music into another lvl.
Laidback Luke without a hat looks really good! Agreed?!?!
All the producers are skipping to the end first to find out where to drop demo's 😂
Great vid = )
Hey Luke Can you show us mabye where and which pages are the best where you can download tracks and remixes to mixing
I am a 17 years old DJ searching for gigs, now I would ask, how to get a booking agent ?
So what I’m getting from it is I have no reason to look for a booking agent as a weekend Dj. And that’s ok.
Nice
What's some good advice for single guys up and coming in the industry??
Question: Isn't the talent manager responsible to get a gig for an artist? I'm just confused with the role of a Manager and a Booking agent. Please shed some light to this. Thanks :-)
hey luke, your demo drop can only take song's in that are 2000 kilobytes or under, but most of my song's fill way more than that. if there is any way i could send it to you in any other way it would be nice.
Luke without the hat? It's like mac and cheese without the cheese!
Haha jk you look good dude!
SO...BASICALLY YOUR TOUR MANAGER (AKA SAMUEL)KEEPS CONTACT WITH BOOKING AGENTES?
