Hello Mike! This was so interesting! We have never seen mustard plants. You are such a natural teacher! You give out so much information and keep our attention! You educate and entertain at the same time! We hope this is a great crop for you! Blessings to you and your family from your fellow farming RUclips friends from Kansas!
We grew a little plot of brown mustard here in Virginia this year. Just harvested it. We use it as a cover crop occasionally and I wanted to see what it would do as an oilseed crop this far south, it actually did better than I thought it would. I like to push the boundaries occasionally and see what you can get away with. I enjoy seeing different crops growing.
Mike, I grew onions for years. We grew mustard on our onion fields and worked it into the soil in the fall. It works as a fumigant and it helped to build organic matter.
Hey Mike , thanks for the super nice instructions. I learned a lot. Be advised that there is a problem scammer at the reply’s. Apparently it’s trendy to impersonate you tubers like that.
Mike! Why does volunteer canola the following year punch through 4 inches of soil after fertilizer banding? The stuff won't grow when you place it there, and truly grows like a weed when you want it gone!
Mike, my good friend. Unfortunately, in my country, there is no such agriculture and modern tools, and I am very happy that I can see the agriculture of your country with the videos you share.
I was amazed at your self control not to pull the weeds as you were fondling them! I know it would not make a noticeable difference, but I would not be able to stop myself lol
Mike i planted flax was called flax king but the secret to flax you plant it a little thicker to aid in emergence worked very well as more plants pushing would help open the soil up in the row.
We used to grow both yellow and brown mustard but keeping the fields separate is a headache. Yellow mustard usually yields about a 1/4 to a 1/3 as much as canola and brown mustard a 1/3 to a 1/2 as much as canola.
There's always weeds in low wet spots. Try messing with water hemp! But thank you for the mustard info. I have been looking online for this kinda information and you answered all the questions I was looking for so thank you again!
I always love learning and you do an awesome job teaching. I guess those flowers are self-pollinating? It would be nice to know how the wheat is doing in Sask. We are all rooting for you Mike, thanks for updating us.

I grew yellow mustard this yr. Have never grown mustard before. I call it my experiment for the yr. 😂 It looks good has had lots of rain, but as a first time grower have no clue what it will yield. Grew it because canola has got to be beyond expensive to grow, especially the fert part. Hope your mustard crop is doing good.
Hi from the uk Mike. Love your videos they are very interesting to see how you guys do things over there compared to how we do over here. For example, It surprises me how short your growing season is for what you call canola or we call oil seed rape (osr). We are planting that now pretty much straight behind the combine for next years crop. Could you tell me why you guys don’t use tramlines for your sprayers to run in instead of driving on the crop? Is it just that it wouldn’t work out with the size of your drills (seeders). Keep up the good work educating the world of the hard work farmers do to feed the world.
Mike I work in ag but with dairy farms out in New York State so not too much in common with your operation. Regardless your videos are informative and hilarious. Keep it up brother
Hi Mike, I'm studying agronomy right now and I'm finding these videos absolutely fascinating. I truly love them and I thank you for allowing us all to some on these adventures with you, but I have a question for you: At 12:30, that looks more like Corn Spurrey than Russian Thistle to me as it's missing the spines on the tips of the leaves and no red stripes on the stems. I'm happy to be proved wrong though, as I said, I'm in the early stages of learning.
We planted buckwheat with soybeans and corn 3” chasing moisture this year... It ALL came up great except one field...that field was later planted that the moisture wasn’t available on the hills and when it rained it was too deep...so it’s a hit or miss depending on chances of rain...
I heard there is less acres and quality of mustard seed this year. Possible shortage or higher prices. I have hauled many loads from Humboldt Sk to Wisconsin and Illinois.
Mike, i got a question. You got some decent crops this year from the looks of it, but what Machine will cut it? You want to Tell us or do we have to wait until harvest Videos come?
Same as Canola- combine. With this variation in germination I suspect a chemical application 10 days before combining to keep green material from getting to the bin.

That mustard seed is really good for biodiesel production. Not that you can run biodiesel in anything now, but still.
The canola leaf has a smooth edge as the mustard leaf is more jagged

Do you use primed seed in fields with difficult moisture? It can get you slightly faster and more even emergence.

Can mustard plants adjust maturity as daylight hours change?
Curious, what do you use for Flea beetle ? They have caused enough damage to my radish to consider killing them.
Yes you should kill them. Try fly spray first. If that doesn’t work, research.
Put up some poles for hawks to land on. Could solve your gopher problem
