Yes it is... They don't adequately show how much time and effort goes into setting everything up in the field either. Big or small, it takes a 6 person crew about 1 hour to setup per 100 shells. Lol A lot of work all around.
@KuzzNshazziie The time delay fuse is usually very difficult to ignite, so a hole is punched sideways through the fuse and a small piece of a more easily ignited fuse inserted (seen at 5:48). This ensures the main fuse ignites, otherwise the shell won't explode.
wow! there is a lot to making fireworks. I just saw this video, Man,this job can be trying and demanding. God bless all the pyros all over, and I am thankful that they Are always willing to travel to bring a good show to a fireworks hungry crowd. I am an obsessed fan of fireworks too.

A professional fifteen minute display costs over $100,000. I know this because I went to a vocational school in my senior year of high school as part of my day. My construction trades teacher that I had there is a licensed pyrotechnition and he works for Grucci fireworks in addition to his construction company and teaching. He told me that he was setting up a display for a wedding and he said the twenty minute display cost $115,000. There’s a lot of labor that goes into a professional fireworks display.
@kony9993 Your right it's most likely 70% potassium perchlorate, 30% blackhead aluminum, and a few extra percent titanium. The perchlorate is the oxidizer, the aluminum is the fuel, and titanium is just for sparks. Like some flash comps it could have some sulfur also, but sulfur increases sensativity. Most likely it's the standered 70/30 being used in production like this simply because it's the safest
They actually incorrectly show the shell the wrong side up. The fuse to the "break chamber" points downward into the lift charge. The quick match is attached to the fuse that you see being inserted at 4:36. The quickmatch then travels up the side of the shell and back to the middle of the shell where a loop of twine holds the quickmatch to the center and then is about 3 feet long with a colored paper cap on the end. After the shell is loaded, the cap is slid off exposing the fuse for ignition

@ 3.22 the term high explosive is used. That is completely incorrect, it is a low explosive, the term high explosive used with and/or describing fireworks is not correct.
They are fine it's not like they consumed the stuff...Its a fuel, catalyst, and oxidizer, for the most part. Then whatever colorants they choose to use.

When they make a hole in the time fuse, and say that it's dangerous cause there's a chance that it'll make sparks and explode. Then why don't they make the needle out of another material that wont cause sparks, like plexiglass?
He said they are prepared for weather and the show will go on, rain or shine. What about higher than average winds? Is there a cutoff point of wind speed where it would be deemed too dangerous?

Black powder is not a high explosive. Black powder burns at only 1300 feet per second. A typical high explosive would be something like RDX. RDX is used in Det cord. Lay a length of det cord from New York to California and that det cord will burn in 15 minutes.
The real reason they could not film the one part is because they don't want people to know what's in their fireworks and try to mimicking them blowing themselves up
It's because it's a professional ignition, you need to be educated in fireworks to be allowed to ignite this ''huge'' stuff, you can only buy small stuff in the shops compared to what these people makes and fires off at shows
I thought they put the stars into a ball that goes inside of a tube and when it's lit it launches up, maybe those are just the fireworks you order offline
Very misleading info. You can't make colors by adding things to basic black powder, you need a different oxidizer for colors. With basic bp, you only get orange, even yellowish or reddish, but no vivid colors. You need chlorate or perchlorate based powders for colors.
