I love Raistlin: Delves so deeply into power for himself, and his competitive nature, to become stronger than his brother, to not need help. Everyone thinks he's evil for wanting power but really he ends up using that power for good and for love. ONLY he was the one that can overthrow an evil GOD, take her place to save the universe. SO epic.
I recently re-read his books from his origins and while yes he can be admired for his ambition he was in truth a terrible jealous spiteful person. Still second favorite character but he is horrible

Just found your channel and love the videos! Interesting, I’m reading the new trilogy from Weiss/Hickman right now and Magius actually says he made it out of a carved branch and is applying spells to it often. I know this video was created 2 years ago and maybe this new trilogy is now offering more details and clarifications to both Magius and Huma since they are secondary characters in the 2nd book, Dragons of Fate…. Very good trilogy so far.
Weis and Hickman ignored all of the lore other authors wrote for their latest trilogy. There are a ton of inconsistencies in them. I have spoiler and spoiler free reviews on the site.
Very cool video Adam thanks! I had forgotten about the history of the staff. I used to think that it had a miniature dragon orb because of the dragon claw and the fact that it seemed sentient at times, but then the books ended and that never happened so it was like "Nope! What else ya got?" Hahaha
I think it would be really interesting to have the staff function as a Ring of Spell Storing. Specifically so that the current user could find spells used by previous wielders, and in the process learn a bit about them. Though the staff is (to my knowledge) never shown to be a sentient item, under exceptional circumstances (like perhaps the moon of the weilder's order being at high sanction) perhaps the staff might even "reveal" a new spell to the user, something not so much remembered as it is... etched upon the essence of the staff, an imprint of a great wizard now long gone.
I just finished reading dragons of a summer flame, so you can imagine my surprise when you said that the dark queen disguised as Raistlin took the staff at the end of the book! In what buck do we learn that it was actually the Queen instead of Raistlin?........
In the fifth age, they reneged the ending of Summer Flame, saying that the image of Raistlin and Fizban was actually Takhisis after she stole the world away. Since she took it as Tas was being stepped on, everything after dealing with any god or Raistlin was her. War of Souls trilogy deals with this best.
Either it's named after it's last owner or always named after the elf or elf group who created it. Id freaking love an entire book series on this staff and it's users AND ALL it's powers and abilities. Not asking for much really. 🤣🔥
A portion of my childhood now feels like a lie and i feel betrayed by my own ignorance; but i am genuinely glad to now be more informed.😂 This was a great vid.👍👍👍
Yeah I think Par-salian said he gave it to him because he felt kinda bad for doing the eye thing and he personally picked Raistlin to be a power in the war of the lance.
I find it more than coincidence that the Staff of Magius has almost the same name as the Staff of the Magi. I assume the powers are the same, in that the staff of Magius may absorb spells cast directly onto the holder of the staff. Holding too much magic power may cause the staff to explode as well. Usually the stored charges are then used as spell per Staff of the Magi, instead of casting it from the caster's memory. IF you've played Dragons of Flame and pick Raistlin and a Bozak casts a spell on him, the staff absorb the magic and prevent damage caused by the spell.
@DragonLance Saga you gather all the parts, do a ritual and when it's done, the parts scatter all over the world. Just like the seven Dragon Balls from the Dragon Ball anime.
@@DLSaga Sure...but I'm responding to the claim that History means "His Story" And also, no. This idea that "History is written by the victors" only makes sense to people who don't actually study history. Historians examine everything they can get their hands on. Most of it isn't even an attempt to document history for the ages but is just journals and letters (many written by women). History is written by everyone who can write, and yes this means that a great deal of history was written by men...in the west...it doesn't mean that many of the most useful and illuminating pieces of information don't come from female sources.
I don't think Palin should have been given the Staff. He was a good mage, but not legendary like Magus and Raistlin. It cheapens the Staff. No disrespect but that's my 2 cents, bro.
