It feels like _the moment_ you hear a piece of news or see something unfold that _convinces_ you the apocalypse has begun. The rest of it sorta just feels like "welp, nothing to do but watch the chaos unfold". There's almost a sense of grim acceptance to it after the sheer dreadful shock of the intro.
