Itotally relate to your life strategies! I love tackling things myself, and you've really inspired me to push myself further and even try re-upholstering. Thanks a ton for your videos-I really appreciate them! ❤👩🏼🎨🥳
And I love to just watch people DIY. I am not going to personally sew stuff, but I build and paint and tile. Your sofa cover series did, however, make me decide to get rid of the three cushions and make one. What a great idea! Will make the foam part but will have the cover made, if that makes sense.
I love your channel, keep posting!! You are a great teacher. I love how you show mistakes too. Im also a diyer, always have been. I was rewallpapering my bathroom at 15. My brain can just see and do things. Love making things pretty. Recently I started redoing chairs, I taught myself to recane chairs, repair, reupholster. I love making vintage things useful and beautiful again. I’ve made my own slipcovers too, that’s a job! There’s just something about doing something yourself. Please keep doing and posting. I just love to watch you. You are so talented! ❤
awe! thank you so much Teresa! We must be sisters from other Mr.'s. 😆...or something like that. If you lived in FL we could be friends. I'm so glad to hear this...my brain can see and do things too. It's a funny thing that not everyone has.
@@MimzyandCompany I agree! I’m in Texas! Funny I don’t know if you do this but I always think others can understand and think like I do. But most people just don’t get it. I usually get deer in the head light looks. 😂 Thanks for teaching me more tricks! I used your “put the staple in turned trick”! Now if I have to change fabric before I sell something I can get those staples out easier! My pneumatic stapler is great, but it’s so hard to remove them, till now! I love that about watching you. ♥️
Hi Mimzy I love your channel and have found so much help from your projects. I’m learning upholstery and have so many projects in the works for a very dated little house I just bought. I appreciate that you admit and show mistakes because no matter how thought out things are, well, they often times don’t go as planned or unforeseen things happen! You are a great teacher and keep making videos. Happy DIY 2025!
I love your style. This is very inspirational. I have to get out of analysis and just do stuff. I have so many supplies and have to start. can always undo it.
that's absolutely right. I was also in analysis paralysis, but hurricane Milton kicked me in the butt and has forced me to do some of the things I've been putting off because I felt they were too big.
I’m all for watching you DIY! Your instructional videos are going to help me a lot when we move to our new house!! I’ve already ordered fabric for my Roman shades for multiple rooms! I’ve been spray painting all the downstairs and next up is kitchen cabinets!! We paid 15 K for our kitchen remodel at our current house and after they were done, I thought I could’ve done this and probably done this better. So I’m going to at my new house.
Hi Mimzy! I just found this video and love your DIY projects, you are so creative. Anyways, I want to move the microwave over the range and install a range hood so I'm looking for a DIY project on that. Keep up the great DIY work!!
I have a vintage, 3-piece sofa. It needs to have the inside of the cushions refurbished. I got a quote from a local furniture upolstery place. They quoted mr $800 for three cushions. $800! Yeah, I'm going to do that myself. What is the color of your kitchen cabinets? They're gorgeous. Oh, and i would love to see anything you want to DIY. I love your esthetic and your attitude. Go! DO!
I’m here for any and all of your inspiration! I first found your channel looking for the “swinging daybed” been a fan ever since! I’ve learned so much…. One thing though…. The math…. When it comes to upholstery…. I personally need slower and simple instructions; for lack of a better term… remedial ! 🤷🏻♀️ my brain struggles ! Lol anyway, you’re amazing! Carry on!
#5, yes! My husband and I have DIY’d most of our 45 yrs…he became a contractor because of learning to do all things…we are on our 3rd house…and he is now retired….but one can learn to do anything…
I love DIY projects and like you have been in a bit of a funk! Thanks for sharing your inspiration as it helps to motivate me to get back to it. Now, what did I do with that saw?
Please share your window project as I need to replace all my windows (a long term project) plus I want to add a window in a now windowless bathroom. (Scary cutting into the exterior wall). At some point I also want to install a small bay window and new (bigger) exterior front door, in which I will have to reframe the opening. I love the creative aspect of DIY, constant learning and the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Thank you so much for your inspiration!!❤
yes!!! good for you! we're cut from the same cloth. I will def share all the upcoming projects. I do have a video of installing French doors at my sisters house, where there was not an opening. I had help though. from my professional friend. still might be worth watching. ruclips.net/video/2Csm-3PW-1g/видео.htmlsi=fH4hOTOHIXe-Ch7k
I will check out your French door project! Thank you. All the tips and techniques are always of value and learning anything is the name of the game! You are such a great inspiration
sure! I now realize the file cabinet project was so long ago I didn't make a video...it's on my blog. Here's a link... mimzyandcompany.com/?s=file+cabinet+to+kitchen+cabinet
I’m a 69-year-old man, yup, 69. After taking one sewing class earlier this year, and being humiliated for three hours by the instructor because I just wanted to learn how to make pillowcases and possibly a duvet cover. Which to her amounted to why are you here. I still left feeling why not do it if I can. The problem? No one teaches how to sew in person.
I know...it's unfortunate that there's not more places to learn sewing and upholstery. But pillowcases and a duvet cover are perfect place to start! Thanks for commenting David.
That makes me so sad, when anyone signs up to teach, that’s all they should focus on. Not belittling someone that took the courage to learn! I’m so sorry you had that experience. I’ve known how to sew since high school and I still took a refresher course at 40, threading the machine is the most difficult lol Good luck to you! Don’t give up!!
Watch RUclips videos, there are many that teach basics or are just about pillow cases. A duvet is really just a huge pillow case. You can buy a sewing machine online but if you have a sewing machine store in your city or town they offer classes too! I don’t like anyone deciding what I can & can’t do, you’re probably the same. You can do this!
good question...sources seem to be dwindling. online...onlinefabricstore.com, fabricguru.com, fabricfiveanddime.com, sailrite.com, bigduckcanvas.com, decorativefabricdirect.com

Thanks!
