Yes. It's very much true. I'm running my 8th lord Mahadasha from September 2011 and I have been experiencing whole lot of unimagined incidents in my life like change of unsettled jobs having income issues, loss of job and being jobless for 6 months, divorce, Victim of heavy financial fraud and under debt, had a major surgery, mental trauma etc.
Lately have left the country for better career prospects (currently working and living in UAE) and still this Mahadasha will continue till September 2021.

I was born in the 8th lord mahadasha Sun. Moon in uttarashada. Sun sits with Jupiter in the 5th. I was born as a sick child and almost died. Hospitalized after born. To everyone's surprise I survived. My experience is that I'm definitely faced with ill health but somehow I overcome. Recover and find a good doctor. In my dasamsha sun and Jupiter are placed in the 8th. I worked for the government. I had so many ups and downs during the 14 years I worked there. I really felt like I was paying back karma with everything I was going through at my work place. At some point I resigned and now I work for a company. So definitely ups and downs, health issues and changes. But I have to say I have grown a lot mentally since I have moon in the 1st house. Currently in my 8th lord dasha and antardasha (mercury-mercury), there has been fulfillment of desires and then great disappointment over night, at the start of my dasha got into a relationship which seemed to be everything I could wish for but ended up being a huge disappointment (yup a secret from the other person was revealed and I did have to keep secrets as well). I also started a new job which is far from what I could ever imagine myself doing, so it brought much confusion but in the past year it has brought the mos clarity I've ever had, I feel that for my first time in my life I'm starting to learn how to let go of expectations and accept me for who I am, despite all of my flaws, my faith has also grown much stronger, oh and not to mention I came across vedic astrology 6 months before my Dasha started, been a devoted student ever since.

Same here. I m currently just 22 years old. Venus mahadasha and jupiter antardasha going on. Jupiter is my 8th lord sitting in 10th house and venus is in 8th house. Unexpectedly I got a central government job with great package which was what I always wanted but didn't expect it to happen so easily

I can say this much, being under Saturn through and through, am surprisingly calm, and determined to discipline. I don't know what else to expect, but grateful to have structure and discipline.

I will analyze this and give more feedback tomorrow as it relates to my daughters 8th house. She has Sun on 8th along with Mercury and Jupiter . Additionally, her Sun mahadasha is going on. I got Ketu in 8th; Sun, Jupiter+Saturn+Mars in 11th house of Aries; Venus+Mercury in the 10th house of Pisces. Currently running Saturn-Venus dasha (8th lord-12th lord!!). What I have experienced is, when the house is aspected, let's Gemini, it will give the effect of Gemini, and when Virgo, it will give result of Virgo, in Mercury MD, AT, SD. If the aspect is strong on 8th, you will spent alot in electronic and communication, whereas if it aspects Virgo, you will gain from very different sources and your mind will be full of ideas to earn. And if it's aspecting by chance Mercury gets combust, you will loose money like anything, unless you are aware of your actions. Thanks for taking the Scorpio asc example...Iam a scorpio asc with Sat-ven-Mercury in Gemini in 8th house aspected by Jupiter....iam running saturn mahadasha since 2012.... and venus antar currently.... My experience- Painful transformations have happened, but end result has been good only, Intense Turmoil faced internally- mentally, emotiionaly although the outside world never got to know even my internal death like situations (guess this is a Scorpio trait)... but i have definitely Ascended...its like a deep dip in the Ganges to purify the Soul not the body...

It’s really weird having Jupiter in the 8th, but I would not trade it for the world. I have Vishakha Lagna with Jupiter in the 8th in Taurus. I have always been drawn to occultism in my life. I ended my Rahu Mahadasha in August 2006 by “randomly” ending up in the Vatican on 6/6/6 which made me feel like I was chosen to become a serious occultist. I was a goth kid and so it really stood out to me because I was familiar with numerology related to occultism. But I did not study it very seriously at that point which is why I was super curious/in awe that I would end up there on that day.
I went into Jupiter Mahadasha in 2006. In 2007, I won a $250,000 scholarship to Oberlin College with the intention of studying Neuroscience and Consciousness. My mentors really helped me begin a process of self-realization when I attended Oberlin. I ended up focusing on African Diasporic Spirituality/Culture/History, Art, and Identity Studies because I am also an activist. I wanted to major in worshipping my ancestors, and even though I loved studying the hard sciences, I wanted a more artistic major in a more community based department. ( I have Ketu in Magha and Venus in Sag).
Since then, I have fallen in love with most aspects of occultism from across the world and Vedanta/Yoga. I analyze that knowledge with other intellectual disciplines because I love to reveal the truth in everything that is hidden. I also love studying astronomy with Jyotish. My Guru is Kavindra Rishi, and so I am training to become a Vedic Astrologer in our lineage. Research is my strength--all artistic mediums are my passion.
I resonate with the psychic part. I could hear Jupiter's voice since I was a child giving me instructions and when I saw Krishna for the first time in a temple in 2011 the voice in my heart matched His voice (powerful spiritual experience). I have Sun in Shravana and Moon in the 1st house in Swati, and so I have struggled with being neurodivergent. When I met my Jyotish Guru, I realized that my heightened senses were for a reason. I now do tons of mantra meditation and other practices to help myself.
I drove my car into a bayou in 2011 which developed into a serious whiplash injury. I started suffering from that years later and that was a surprise. A couple of years ago I started having seizures connected with arthritis in my neck and adrenal issues. This definitely matches the disease part you mention, but I have finally gotten into a long-term stride of following Ayurveda.

Am running the Mahadasha of planet placed in eighth house for the last 7 years. This period will end next month. Will then start the Mahadasha of Rahu also placed in 8th house. My wife has a maha dasha of Rahu and it’s placed in 8th house in her birth chart . She has become the opposite of her nature and complete nightmare and destructive towards me her husband . Twenty years marriage on breaking point and separated for 16 months and divorcee is in the court room . I as a husband defending the divorce but she is doing everything negative and trying to destroy my to imprisonment or death to take over finanaces and freedom . I am emotionally exhausted and drained by her . Please reply ?

The issue is that I am told one cannot just start chanting mantras by themselves without being "initiated" but a Guru otherwise the mantra can cause harm. I am confused as how to proceed with this as finding a Guru to initiate is just not plausible at this time. What would you suggest, please?
