Im watching on 4-25-24 which brings to mind how timeless your nature/hiking videos are. You haven't aged in five years and neither have these wonderful places that you and Joey take us to. Thank You both for taking me along. I'm having my coffee at 6:30am and i can't think of a better way to start my day. Stay Safe, keep posting and I'll keep watching.🙏👍😎
I could say lots but thanks for sharing. Nice to see both of you out there enjoying the great outdoors. You both are special people......not big egos, clean, kind, etc.
Thank you so much Cynthia. I appreciate the kind feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the National Park series. I had so much fun, but I will say...at each of those locations...I was dreaming of backpacking. :)
You're absolutely right ... stunning indeed!! Loved those campsites ... perfect. Nice to see you two take your time & soak up all that beauty. Thanks for sharing the adventure ... looking forward to many more!!
I had to watch your video in parts...family visiting from Florida. Catherine, if you and Joey said nothing the entire video we fans would still have thoroughly enjoyed it. The scenery said it all. I did a similar water hike in the Mogollon Rim of AZ some years ago and the scenery was magnificent. However, Death Hollow is now on my bucket list. I'm looking forward to your Yosemite trip which I've done along with Mammoth and June Lake Loop. My brother parks his huge travel trailer up there the entire summer each year. He lives in Lake Arrowhead. Great job on the photography!
Wow, what an amazing trip Catherine. Excellent video with epic scenery. Solitude, good for the soul. In 2007 I did an six day solo trip in the South San Wilderness in southern Colorado and only saw one person during the entire trip. So glad you got to experience the canyon all by your selves. Oh, think I recognized that fleece Joey was wearing.
great video, catherine. your choice of music really takes that scenery to another level. and i have to say that it is fun seeing joey as a reluctant, sometimes shy, sometimes playful "#2" in your videos versus his generally serious "#1" in his own!
Joey is definitely a pro when it comes to making his own films. He has a lot he wants to share, stories to tell, information to give and shots he doesn't want to miss. It shows in the quality of his films. He didn't have to worry about that in front of my camera. I remember thinking similar thoughts before we met and I saw him featured in a John Amorosano video from a Grand Canyon trip they did. I thought...wow...I'm seeing a different side of him. He's funny and sarcastic...etc. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thank you.
Stoked to find your channel and the excellent and entertaining videos. Love the mix of backpacking, hiking and camping that you feature.. all my favorite things! Such beautiful scenery and filming. Fan for life of Joey's channel and now your's too!
Awe...thank you Tawna! I appreciate that. I'm learning from Joey for sure. He's an amazing cinematographer/videographer/artist! Even though he doesn't see himself as an artist...he definitely is. You'll love his video of this trip, as well.
THE COLORS OF THE SCENERY JUST JUMP OUT OF THE VIDEO! EVERYTHING IS VERY SHARP & CRISP ! OUTSTANDING BEAUTY! THANK YOU! BE SAFE! GOD BE WITH YOU ALWAYS! ENJOYED!
WOW! certainly one adventure to remember!! I love the massive rock formations. Any place with the name "Death ..(anything)" has got to be experienced with complete attention and respect.. Good to see you paired up for this location,,looks to be an easy place to have a problem, from all the different obstacles in that type of terrain.I have viewed some of Joey's adventures and he certainly seems to have skills and an awesome sense of adventure. Amazing trek with lots of awesome views and pics all along the way,,will be interesting to see how the two videos compare or differ..Love the pace of this hike (more my style) maybe the only time here so enjoy it to the fullest!! Also enjoyed the soundtrack, very much! Thank You both for sharing....Stay Safe and God Bless....
rockytop wrangler yes...lots could potentially go wrong here. We saw evidence of previous flooding, rock fall and of course being in the water so much hypothermia is a real danger. Joey speaks on that topic and his experiences with these issues in his video as he has spent quite a bit of time in that Canyon. He is very smart and aware about safety, so I do feel comforted knowing that. His video will definitely be different and have his trademark MyOwnFrontier feel to it. It’ll be a must watch as it won’t feel like a repeat of mine at all. I’m anxious to see it myself. :)
Great video Cathrine....i came over from Joe's channel and subscribed. Would like to see some of your surf photography...i was born in Santa Monica, and grew up in the surf culture. I still follow the sport avidly after 58 yrs. Y'all make a great couple, and with both your talents and passion combined, we should expect some EPIC videos!
Hi there! Thanks so much for subbing! I appreciate it. That's awesome that you are an avid surf fan. You can check out some of my work here www.surfline.com/photos/#!/profile/370625/ . Thanks for the kind words with regards to Joey and I. He should be uploading his version of this video within a few weeks I think. :)
Utterly perfect Catherine. What an amazing place. Almost like you could find a lost civilisation there untouched by the modern world. Great videography too and all the better you’ve found someone to share it with.:-) Really pleased for you.🙏 Atb Mike
Always stoked to see you pop on here Mike. I truly felt that way about this place. I think I actually said something very similar in front of Joey's camera. If I haven't old you lately...I really appreciate your support. Means a lot to me.
Wow, Catherine, your best video yet! Epic scenery and that camp site on the shelf...awesome. Joey, new pack Bruh? I missed seeing your "famous pot" dangling on the outside of your red pack. Hmmm! Busch Lite...IPA, c'mon man! IPA all the way! :)
Wow!!!!..what an awesome trip!..Utah is on my bucket list!!!...fun video and good medicine...good training for swamp hiking on this trip!!!...lol!...i will have to check out his channel!
Thank you Mike! I don't know if I'll be swamp hiking with those gators lurking. lol Never say never though. I said I'd never backpack in Grizzly Country and I'll be doing that next month. lol
Great video! Looks like lots of fun. I came across your channel a couple of weeks ago while searching on Yellowstone (our 3rd visit to Yellowstone/Tetons is this June). I've been catching up and watching your videos in spare time. I've seen a few of Joey's videos in some Yellowstone groups. You guys are really fun! Looking forward to your future videos!
Awe...thank you Angela. We did have a lot of fun on this trip. As I mentioned in the video, our next trip in less than a month will be in Yellowstone. I'm very excited. Thank you for your support of both of our channels.
LOL Catherine! Don't you know to stay AWAY from any place with the word devil or death in it???👍👍I see all that water you were hiking in...an endless sea of sand! Thanks muchly for the shoe tip!🌟🌟🌟 In this journey you stated you would be heading home. Where do you consider home? Beautiful, beautiful hiking! All your hikes are stunning and striking in beauty and grandeur...SPEECHLESS! The sights speak volumes in themselves. No human words required!
8:33 really looks like another planet wow, really enjoying the editing here & all the effort put into the walk by shots man I love walk by shots, it's like looking at a moving picture. 16:37 I'm dying here. Omg you guys had a beer there, wow this really was great plus the extra effort in editing really shines you guys, I don't watch a lot of stuff 100% but this was a blast I will for sure be subbing & returning, thanks for the video guys.
Hahaa...yes, Joey isn't too concerned about weight. He'd rather have some comforts like beer and carry a little extra. :) Glad you enjoyed the video and effort put into it. Thank you so much for the kind feedback and for watching.
Incredible video and footage Catherine, thank you for sharing. Would love to hike with you sometime on the Pacific Crest Trail locally sometime. Let me know if you're ever game..
Repeat “awesome”. ...moment of paradise, great views and places to set your evening. Your words echoed my thoughts. ...so sorry to see the graffiti. “Awesome”! Thanks for letting us come along.
Visually a very interesting place, I even like the bowl like area before you descend into Death Hollow creek area, never seen anything like it. I would have to thought to see some kind of deer like animal in there in the canyon. Thanks for showing it.
I saw some tracks which I think were deer, but no deer. I was hoping to see a beaver since we came across the chewed through trees and dams. Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.
We followed rock cairns on the slick rock portion. Joey knows the area well so he navigated and I followed, but as long as you follow the water down stream, there's really no way to get totally lost.
Utah is so spectacular. So many incredible national parks. Such insanely gorgeous things to see. I’m guessing the snow capped mountain was Brian head ski resort which is due west of escalate. North is park city so I doubt it would be that ski area. Utah has a pretty decent mountain range. I’ve been to Zion and Bryce and Kodachrome parks in Utah. Dream is to do the Big Five in Utah, then loop out to Mesa verde, then to AZ to petrified forest, monument valley, antelope canyon, horseshoe bend, with the grand finale being the Grand Canyon but I’d need at least a month. One day.....😊 enjoying your posts so much. I’m over 55 and serious knee injuries so can’t hike like I used to but walking on the soil and sand has been one of the best therapies for me, heart and mind and even the knees. You ever hiked around pinnacles national park? That was my last hike a month ago. It’s stunning. Look forward to your posts and adventures
Really, really enjoyed your adventure. What beautiful country!! This will go on meold bucket list. Why did you sleep in a tent on that beautiful sandy beach?? And, of course.... what was the flash flood danger?? Small canyon... no where to go. The filming was incredible. Thank you so much for sharing. Best wishes......... Ax
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it. The forecast didn't call for rain, however sometimes they are wrong. I know it can and has flooded in there, but I think it's rare.
This looks like a great hike. Wondered about the shoes you wore in the water, what shoes are they and are they good for regular hiking. Also my Prana meme pants arrived and love them. Thanks and happy hiking Dorinda
Nice! I just did this trip (boulder mail trail to death hollow to hwy 12 bridge) and posted a video also! It was awesome. Can't compare it to anything else, really. Love your channel!
Pinnacles is so incredible. It’s along hwy 101 accessed through Soledad or the highway up to hollister cuz it has an east and west side that only meet if you hike. You can camp on the east side. It’s a hikers dream. I love the eastern sierras and big sur and this is smack in the middle and is as stunning but absolutely unlike either. It’s a photographers dream. Stunning views around every corner. Put it on your list. 😁
it is all nice but are those water snakes venomous?)) and those blue shoes you had on.. have you worn them hiking other terrains? How did it feel...the mountain trail running ones. incredible place... it is called death since much of livestock fell off there trying to cross all those canyons.
that was so beautiful, I somehow missed this one. Been thinking of doing this... but it looks more challenging than Coyote Gulch for sure. How many miles was it down before you reached that first campsite on day 1? The way down looked a bit rough too... not to mention the narrow section where you had to step on that ledge to get through the water. Amazing hike all around. Loved the swimming hole too. The rock art was awesome. I hate that people vandalize places like that.
Hi Nicole. This is a lot more challenging than Coyote Gulch. It’s awesome, but I’d definitely recommend having a hiking partner. Especially, for the Crux. Are you heading back to Utah?
Like the matching outfits! Joey seems more relaxed in your video than he has in most of his own. Is the tripod he was carrying by the company "Three Legged Thing"? I couldn't quite make it out I bought one recently but haven't been able to use yet. In fact it is snowing out here in NY today. Hiking silently without the need for conversation shows your comfortable together. My husband and I are like that. Thanks for a great video to watch on a snowy "spring day!"
Hi Julie. I don't recall the brand of tripod. I think Joey copied me on the outfit as I was dressed first. lol :) He's very focused when he's filming his videos. I think he lets loose a bit more when it's not his work. He's a true pro. Glad I could warm you up on a cold NY day. :)
Hello Catherine, thank you for sharing another truly awesome video. Your videos have captured some of the most beautiful areas of God's creation. I am recovering from a nasty auto accident; therefore, I really enjoy viewing your academy award winning videos. Always take good care of yourself. 🤗
Oh no Ronald...I hope you are okay! I’m glad the videos are keeping you occupied during your recovery. I have one I shot a few weeks ago I’m going to start working on.
I've watched three of your videos of death hollow!(you and Joey's) They are so vivid and in great quality to help us decide our next destination. Thank you for such amazing job! I would like to know which month did you go and what would you suggest if we plan to go there this coming late May?
nicely done...... surprised you slept under the overhangs where you couldn't gaze up at the stars at night. I slept under the stars one night in the Grand Canyon..... it wasn't planned...there just wasn't enough room to pitch tents ( cause they has let a lot of water out of the dam and the beach had shrunk) so many stars...so bright...seemed like there was hardly any space between them.
Diane Clarke thank you. We actually could see the stars on night one. The canyon was very narrow on night 2, so not much sky was visible. There was a more open spot about 3/4 of a mile further, but Joey informed me it was more likely to have people there. I opted for the privacy. :)
I THOUGHT I HEARD YOU BOTH SAY POISON IVY I WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO HIKE IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS AWESOME SCENERY! I'M REALLY GLAD THERE WERE NO THUNDER STORMS WAY UP STREAM FROM YOU ALL!
Beautiful spot!! Could you do a video on food storage (keeping your food safe from the critters) and cleaning your pot after cooking? I’ve stuck to mountain house since I found clean up to be a pain.
Great video Catherine. So inspiring:-). I'm planning on doing top down narrows hike in June but may now switch to Death Hollow. Love the fact that you seem to have the trail to yourself. Just wondering what trailhead did to start from and where did you finish at? Also, Did you need any permits, shuttles for the hike? Thanks again and look forward to your future videos. Great Job!
Thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. We started at the Boulder Mail Trailhead. I believe we ended at the Escalante River Trailhead, but I could be wrong on the name. We staged a car at each trailhead so no shuttles. I think Joey signed for the permit right at the trailhead. Have fun!!
Utah has so much cool stuff. I've been to lots of places there, but not where you are. Wish l was there. Is that water cold? Look like it is and also is deep in spots. Nice video Catherine, l enjoyed it very much, but didn't get to see you fall into the water. lol Telegraph line won't have any insulation on it and a telephone line will.
Hi Jimmy. The water is cold when you first get in, but you get used to it quickly. It’s not like the Sierras where it’s painfully frigid. I figured I’d let Joey show you the fall in his video. lol. I did start feeling cold after I got wet. We were in the shady part of the canyon. It would be easy for someone to get hypothermia. Luckily, we weren’t far from camp so I was able to change into dry clothes.
I'm watching your video death Hollow and it's hard to believe that places like that really exist it is so beautiful and the creek is just so awesome it's incredible that stuff like that still exist in this part of the world the way we screwed everything up but I wanted to say thank you for bringing that to us most beautiful thing in the world nature God had a good eye didn't he thank you so much get to watch you even from the Philippines incredible bye for now
I live in Tennessee and am going to Utah in a couple weeks. Are there any permits you have to get to camp overnight there? Also, how does parking work there? Thank you and great video!
Hi Blake. You do need a permit, but I think you just sign for them at the trailhead. I didn't do any planning for this trip however. It was all Joey. There was parking at both trailheads. We staged one car at each.
There are rock cairns on the slick rock portion of the trail which are pretty easy to follow, but once you get down into the canyon...there are no trail markers. You have to look around for it. Fortunately, Joey knows it well so he navigated and I followed. There really is only one way to go though and as long as you follow the water down stream, you eventually run into the Escalante river, then it's more of the same until you get to the trailhead. I actually said to Joey that it was a good thing he knew the area because we'd spend a lot more time looking for the trail.
It is incredibly easy to get lost in the Escalante Wilderness because everything looks the same! When the light changes, you can't even recognize a familiar place you were in two hours before! I don't see how you found your way. I see no trail markers, no blazes, no signs. How did you keep from getting lost and how did you follow the trail over the slickrock?
Hi Wendy. We followed rock cairns on the slick rock portion. Joey knows the area well so he navigated and I followed, but as long as you follow the water down stream, there's really no way to get totally lost.
Hey Marty. Subbed back. I might be hitting the Canadian Rockies for the first time this year. I'm going to check out some of your videos to get a feel for it. Thanks for the sub!
Perhaps next time you visit this particular place you should bring an inflatable raft it sure seems like it might help lot of water it is so beautiful so clean no gum wrappers cans or bottles of trash credible
Poison oak or poison ivy? Most of the time on the west coast all I see is poison oak, when I do spot poison ivy it’s almost a vine. Just my experience of the areas I hike, but at the same time I’m not allergic to either one so to be honest I’m not always the most careful to look out for it.
I want to send Joey some good cali IPA sPM with an address. Also I have the mammoth picture framed in my office.Glad u and Joey hooked up.Now we get 2fer With one video.Lol
awe...that's so awesome. I'm going to be flying out for the next couple trips, so I won't be able to take it to him. I'll hit you up when I know he'll be here in Cali or if I drive to him. Thank you for your support of us. I had one of my longest subs comment on this video that he was "unsubbing" because in his opinion this video is more Joey than me. That's okay though. The people who stay are supportive and that who I want here.
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures Thank you Catherine for appreciating your unconditional subs; I so relish these beautiful places you take us, Joey or no Joey. But so far, this is my favorite, with Joey. Looking forward to both of your adventures, together and apart.
Cat, you can prevent swelling , by taking Devils Claw! Iam a major walker of 66 yrs of age! Been using natural Devils Claw since 45 yrs. old. No swelling in 21 yrs.Except once in 1997 on a bus trip from California to Nebraska. On my Devils Claw next day and set me right again. !!!.....
Thank you Alyssa! I appreciate that. My shoes were not waterproof. In fact...you don't want them to be because they take a lot longer to dry. Your feet are going to get wet no matter what. :)
Nice! Thanks for the reply. I’ve done water hikes I just usually use vibrams or my tevas. Was curious how one felt with wet boots? I personally am a wuss when it comes to wet socks and shoes lol
It’s amazingly beautiful there on that trail.. and now I know why they called it Death Hollow.. they didn’t want people to come and trash this little beauty. Kinda like Iceland.. the Vikings named it that to keep people away!!
Joey's vids are epic. Then what does he do? He collaborates with the classic outdoor beauty, Miss Catherine who is no cinematic slouch herself. Thanks guys; you inspire me to get out there in God's Cathedral.
questions?? Favorite IPA's ? how did new shoes rate?? Name of snow capped mountain in beg, of video? Footage of Cat falling in river? great stuff watched it twice
Here we go! Favorite IPA's ? I don't drink. lol Joey get's all the beer! lol how did new shoes rate?? Loved them! I'll give them a 10 at this point. No blisters either. Name of snow capped mountain in beg, of video? Still don't know. lol Footage of Cat falling in river? I'll let Joey use that for his video. haha Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching twice!!! :)
It goes without saying that the collaboration between the two of you is indeed something special. Please please keep these videos coming
azcolby40 thank you so much. Pretty special that our interests are so similar. We intend to keep the videos coming both separate and together. :)
Wow! This was fabulous! The filming was excellent and the music was wonderful. Great job!
Fun Trip! Excellent video...it looks like a bigger version of Zion! I love red rock/ and slick rock country! You guys had fun!
Thank you Chris. We did have a lot of fun and it is such a beautiful place.
Just absolutely stunning views everywhere. Lucky dog you. Great choice of camp spots. Great editing as well Cat.
Thank you Jaxx! This is absolutely someplace I will go back to again. I loved it there.

Incredibly beautiful video, thank you for sharing. I really enjoyed it. Oh, to be young again. Safe journeys to both of you. Take care.
Hi Ronald. Thanks so much. Glad you enjoyed it. I appreciate you taking the time to watch. :)
What a beautiful video! Those colors! The green of the bushes and trees in the spring is one of my favorite colors. Great job, and thanks so much!
Hi Caroline. So glad you enjoyed it. It was really a colorful place. Thank you.
I could say lots but thanks for sharing. Nice to see both of you out there enjoying the great outdoors. You both are special people......not big egos, clean, kind, etc.
Thank you very much!
Wow, you do such a nice job with your videos. Your very talented. I really enjoyed your three part National Park series. Beautiful photos!!!
Thank you so much Cynthia. I appreciate the kind feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the National Park series. I had so much fun, but I will say...at each of those locations...I was dreaming of backpacking. :)
What a stunningly beautiful hike! Thanks for taking me along.
Nice to see you Lily! Thanks for coming along. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful scenery, and as usual, great eye Catherine...what a fantastic life you have chosen...
You're absolutely right ... stunning indeed!! Loved those campsites ... perfect. Nice to see you two take your time & soak up all that beauty. Thanks for sharing the adventure ... looking forward to many more!!

A great video. Thanks for sharing. Joey's clothes have noticeably less holes in them since you guys got together. You are a positive influence :)
Thank you Colm! hahah He might be trying to impress his date. lol ;)
Awesome footage and shots. Thanks for taking us with you on this journey!! 😎😎
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming along!
Another really good video. Thanks for sharing!

Great video. I'll add that one to my list. I second the beer and tubes idea. You guys remind me of my awesome wife and I. So cool. Cheers!
Hahaa. Thank you Steve. That was a prime spot for tubing. lol
What an amazing area to hike. Enjoyed the video!
Just beautiful. Photography, music, editing super job. Filled with lots of good vibes. You two make a great pair. I wish you both the very best.
Thank you! I appreciate the well wishes. It was such a fun trip.
Awesome video, great cinematography and music. What a cool place to hike and camp, not too death defying at all.
Thank you! It's a collaborative effort. :) Honestly one of the coolest places I've been to.
Lol thanks for replying about poles
You have some Beautiful pics have fun trek on.
Thank you!

Reminded me of my 12 mile hike through The Narrows a couple summers ago. Inspiring stuff. Keep it up.
The Narrows are amazing.
Looks awesome back in there! Never heard of it before, but I may need to make a trip back in there!
It's so awesome. I loved it.
great views and great route.
I was so impressed and blown away by this hike. I'm looking forward to going back next season.
Utterly perfect Catherine. What an amazing place. Almost like you could find a lost civilisation there untouched by the modern world. Great videography too and all the better you’ve found someone to share it with.:-) Really pleased for you.🙏

Always stoked to see you pop on here Mike. I truly felt that way about this place. I think I actually said something very similar in front of Joey's camera. If I haven't old you lately...I really appreciate your support. Means a lot to me.
Another wonderful trip! Again, Thanks for allowing us to tag along!
I always appreciate you coming along. Thank you!
I just love your vlogs!!! Great content and thanks for sharing!!
Thank you so much! That means a lot to me. Super stoked that you enjoy the videos.
Love the music as well the video- outstanding!
Thank you Tom.
Awesome video of you both. I need to go backpacking there and camping. Cool
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you Alex! Yes...Joey got a new pack thanks to the generosity of one of his subscribers. :)
Absolutely stunning video😁
Wow!!!!..what an awesome trip!..Utah is on my bucket list!!!...fun video and good medicine...good training for swamp hiking on this trip!!!...lol!...i will have to check out his channel!

Thanks so much Andrea!
Beautiful!! Thanks for sharing!!
Texas HIKEaholics thank you!!
Incredible video and footage Catherine, thank you for sharing. Would love to hike with you sometime on the Pacific Crest Trail locally sometime. Let me know if you're ever game..
Thank you Mike.
Awesome views! Thanks so much.
Hi Rimona. It is an amazing place. I hope to explore more of this area next year.
Beautiful country. Thank you for sharing.
It really is! Thank you for watching.
Repeat “awesome”. ...moment of paradise, great views and places to set your evening. Your words echoed my thoughts. ...so sorry to see the graffiti. “Awesome”! Thanks for letting us come along.
Chinoodin 47 paradise is a good word for it. I like that. Thank you for coming along!
Thank you.
Great adventure! The music was epic! It made me feel like I was watching a cinematic movie! You guys ever think about making a movie!
Wow what an awesome place. I was curious how you were following the trail. Was it marked enough?
I have never been to Pinnacles. I still have so much yet to explore. I’m so glad you are enjoying the videos.
Great trip, thanks for posting.
Hi Tony. So glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for coming along.
Thanks and happy hiking
Dorinda
I loved this hike. I want to do it again. So glad you like the pants. My shoes are LaSportiva Ultra Raptors and the are great in water and on land.
Nice! I just did this trip (boulder mail trail to death hollow to hwy 12 bridge) and posted a video also! It was awesome. Can't compare it to anything else, really. Love your channel!
Thank you Amy! Wasn't it awesome? I watched your video. Good job!!
Yes..:I wear those shoes on regular trails. They are made for mountain trails. I love them!
that was so beautiful, I somehow missed this one.
@@CatherineGregoryAdventures yes that's what I thought it looks intense. I'm planning on getting back out there soon.
FANTASTIC!!
Thank you Thorn!
Thank you for sharing! Great video. What time of year is ideal for this hike? Thank you.
Hi Oscar. Thank you! We did this hike in April and I think the weather was perfect. Not too hot and not too cold.
You guys are awesome!!! U make me move from cold Finland to US...
Thank you so much! I appreciate you watching.
Raw talent and beauty combined
azcolby40 thank you!
Great video. Well produced.
Thank you so much!
Yes David...poison ivy was thick in some areas. We really had to watch for it.
what were the dates you traveled? Looking to do this next spring and I want to make sure its not too cold.
This was in April. The weather was perfect. Not too hot, or too cold.
Catherine Gregory thank you.
Beautiful spot!!
Could you do a video on food storage (keeping your food safe from the critters) and cleaning your pot after cooking? I’ve stuck to mountain house since I found clean up to be a pain.
Hi Esther. That's a good suggestion. I'll try to address that in an upcoming video.
More like this. Excellent
Thank you Peter! I appreciate you watching.
Beautiful
Nice video Catherine, l enjoyed it very much, but didn't get to see you fall into the water. lol
Telegraph line won't have any insulation on it and a telephone line will.
I'll keep an eye open for it. LOL
I'm watching your video death Hollow and it's hard to believe that places like that really exist it is so beautiful and the creek is just so awesome it's incredible that stuff like that still exist in this part of the world the way we screwed everything up but I wanted to say thank you for bringing that to us most beautiful thing in the world nature God had a good eye didn't he thank you so much get to watch you even from the Philippines incredible bye for now
Where'd ya get the shoes you like? What were they called?
I live in Tennessee and am going to Utah in a couple weeks. Are there any permits you have to get to camp overnight there? Also, how does parking work there? Thank you and great video!
Hi Blake. You do need a permit, but I think you just sign for them at the trailhead. I didn't do any planning for this trip however. It was all Joey. There was parking at both trailheads. We staged one car at each.
It doesn't seem like the trail is marked. Was it easy to follow?
We have a very similar style, but I hike in a totally different environment than you. I subbed. Cheers from Alberta.
Do you know where Myownfrontier went? I loved joeys channel but it is all gone now.
That's a beautiful area.
Poison oak or poison ivy? Most of the time on the west coast all I see is poison oak, when I do spot poison ivy it’s almost a vine. Just my experience of the areas I hike, but at the same time I’m not allergic to either one so to be honest I’m not always the most careful to look out for it.
It was definitely poison ivy. Luckily both of us came out unscathed, but we were very careful.
Great.
Wow certainly not a place to be in a flash flood event. Well done you. Try New Zealand sometime.
Love your videos Cat! Are your shoes waterproof??
Thank you Alyssa! I appreciate that. My shoes were not waterproof. In fact...you don't want them to be because they take a lot longer to dry. Your feet are going to get wet no matter what. :)
Nice! Thanks for the reply. I’ve done water hikes I just usually use vibrams or my tevas. Was curious how one felt with wet boots? I personally am a wuss when it comes to wet socks and shoes lol
I got used to it. lol I of course took them off immediately when we got to camp. :)
It’s amazingly beautiful there on that trail.. and now I know why they called it Death Hollow.. they didn’t want people to come and trash this little beauty.
Kinda like Iceland.. the Vikings named it that to keep people away!!
Hi Mike. I like that theory. Seems plausible for sure. Thank you for watching.
HOW DID YOUR SHOES DO WITH THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF TERRAIN ?
My shoes performed wonderfully. I was really happy with them.
I love to see couples hiking together. It's like a love story.
Красота. Спасибо.
Спасибо!
Two things I don´t understand: 1) Late starts; 2) Not swimming MUCH more in the creeks, ponds and lakes. (And 3) Stay a few days longer)
Joey's vids are epic. Then what does he do? He collaborates with the classic outdoor beauty, Miss Catherine who is no cinematic slouch herself. Thanks guys; you inspire me to get out there in God's Cathedral.
Thank you Jim! Joey is definitely the master. :) I'm looking forward to seeing his video in a few weeks hopefully.
BRAVO....
Thank you Sir!
questions??
Favorite IPA's ?
how did new shoes rate??
Name of snow capped mountain in beg, of video?
Footage of Cat falling in river?
great stuff watched it twice
Here we go!
Favorite IPA's ? I don't drink. lol Joey get's all the beer! lol
how did new shoes rate?? Loved them! I'll give them a 10 at this point. No blisters either.
Name of snow capped mountain in beg, of video? Still don't know. lol
Footage of Cat falling in river? I'll let Joey use that for his video. haha
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching twice!!! :)
I'd be a packing a Ultra-Lite Telescopic Fishing Pole on those water trips
That would be fun. I've thought about it, but have yet to do it.
Is there a story behind the name "Death Hollow"?
I think there are various tales actually. Horses falling to their death over the edge, a murder...I'm not sure what is true.
What happened to Joey’s channel?! It’s GONE.
