  • The battle of Stalingrad (July 1942 -- February 1943) was one of the major battles in World War II, and surely one of the most renowned in military history. Still, one of its aspects remains much less known: the stories of civilians and their survival in a city gripped by fierce battle.
This RT documentary features rare accounts from witnesses and participants of the battle of Stalingrad, and comments by Dr. Michael K. Jones, a well known historian and author of "Stalingrad - How the Red Army Triumphed".

I keep hearing this garbage that the life expectancy of a Red Army private was 1 day. Since there were approximately 50,000 privates in the 62nd army, that means 50,000 soldiers were ferried across every day. Bull. The records show that at most 10,000 soldiers could make it on one day, and that happened only 8 times.
