I haven't seen HIM in concert, but I've seen The Rasmus and they sounded really, really god (which honestly surprised me, because truth be told, I didn't expect a lot of them. I've been a fan of them ever since). For a real difference between "live" and "studio", watch Avril Lavigne concerts in her early days.

You kidding right? I'm not even a fan of HIM or Ville Valo but the guy can sing his ass off and has a powerful, rich voice. Lauri can sing high notes but is hela screechy and always off-key live. No technique whatsoever. Valo has the technique and the range and is the better vocalist of the two.

laurie doesn't sing that bad... actually this song has to be like . . . "bittersweet" i think that's why apocalyptica chose ville and laurie... cause they have very different voices, those two voices together would sound like really bittersweet. . . but valo's the best, no doubts of it

I think Lauri is one of those singers who just isn't made for soft singing. It's almost like he struggles to sing soft and it comes across that way. Chino Moreno from Deftones is also one of those singers.
