This is a three-part series on the journey MAJ Lisa Jaster took to complete U.S. Army Ranger School.
The United States Army Ranger School is an intense 61-day combat leadership course oriented toward small-unit tactics. It has been called the "toughest combat course in the world" and "is the most physically and mentally demanding leadership school the Army has to offer". It is open to soldiers (commissioned officer, warrant officer, or enlisted), sailors, airmen, and Marines in the US Armed Forces, as well as allied military students. The course is currently open to women.

As long as standards are not lowered everything is fine and dandy. The battlefield does not discriminate.
This a bit old but I thought I would comment. Yes, standards overall were lowered approx six months prior to pave the way. Also, all new raters were brought in. This is politics at their worst.
The standards were lowered I know for a fact former RI we were told to keep a close eye on them and when they were failing a team of NCO were send out to make sure they graduate and give them motivation talk when I went to Ranger school I had to motivate myself. The same thing happened to Airborne school they get the Jump wing walk around with wings. But never road March 12 miles after the jump and stay in the woods for the duration of the exercise. In bitter cold This are just Publicity for political purpose. Go to any military base in the morning during PT and you will see a line of drop out 85% female
Young lady I have the absolute 💯 % respect for you. I'm a retired disabled combat veteran of desert storm in the 82nd Airborne Division. I retired a SSG and parachute rigger. I know that you have proved to alot of men and women that they can also achieve the ranger tab. If I were in the US Army I know that without any doubt I would go and earn the ranger tab with my my ranger buddy and I know that one earns it alone. God Bless you and your family. AATW AND RTLW!!!!! Keep in mind all Rangers are Airborne all marines are not we own the death from above we all have our specialties at the end Rangers Lead The Way Huah !!!!!!
Memo M All Rangers are Airborne marines are a branch Rangers are selected and well trained not every one can do it As an instructor in Ranger school I have seen many marines fail only the best graduate that’s not the end of the road that’s that’s the start then comes rasp then assignment to a Battalion if you drop the standard you get terminated if you think you got what it takes come on over.

Ranger School isn't RASP. It is nothing compared to the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Yeah its a qualification. Its really about the potential. Even if one never goes for the regiment they still learned a lot.

Woman do not belong in the infantry, in no way will it improve combat readiness for a line unit, and it has nothing to do with the capability of the individual, it is the other things that only people that have been in. A combat zone and in a combat unit will understand

Lmao it’s so funny how people don’t understand the difference between Ranger School and RASP(Ranger Assessment & Selection Program). Ranger School is a leadership development school. RASP, is where you actually become an Army Ranger and serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment. Huge difference. Ranger School is light work compared to RASP.

Goddammit that's an amazing effort. Ranger tab is earned. You pass the physical and mental tests then you pass and deserve it...regardless of gender. Congrats.

Who cares? It is politics! Having a ranger tab does not pay more. It should be a tab that only units from the Ranger battalions can get. Why do you need a ranger tab if you are an honor guard or a cook at the white house? It is a waste of tax payer money honestly. If you are in a Ranger Battalion, then it should be a school that you can go to for your job.
For all of you saying women are just as good physically as males, just stop. Some women of course, on average, not a chance. You wanna be equal and think you are just as strong? Well then we need to change the physical fitness test standards because for me to get a perfect score of 300, I have to do 77 pushups in 2 minutes, 82 sit ups in 2 minutes, and run a 13:18 2 mile, a female the same age as me has to do 50 push ups, 82 sit ups, and run a 15:48 2 mile. That's to get a perfect score, now let's look at the minimums needed to pass. I have to get 39 push ups, 45 sit ups, and run a 17 minute 2 mile, a female the same age has to get 17 push ups, 45 sit ups, and run a 20:30 2 mile. Where in those numbers besides sit ups are we held to the same physical standard? And before you comment and say I'm just complaining, I am not, the numbers don't lie, and they are not equal. For you shit talkers that are gonna say something stupid like "you're just mad cause you can't pass", I scored a 300 on my last PT test and haven't scored under a 280 for the last 3 so save it. Also, in the Marine Corps they don't even do the same 3 exercises, only 2 are the same, crunches and run. You know which one isn't the same? Pull ups. Men do pull ups and women do a flexed arm hang. Think they have the same run time standards? Nope, 18 minute 3 mile for males and 21 minute 3 mile for females for a perfect run score. Definitely not being held to the same physical standards. The Marine Corps literally did a study that put all male platoons against integrated platoons. The male platoons beat the integrated platoons in every event. Look it up, facts are facts. P.S.- if you are not in the military stop putting your nose in our business, the decisions that congress makes changes things and makes life a lot harder for us, they don't affect you, they just make you feel better P.S.S- I am a little excited to see the public reaction when women start returning from war maimed, disfigured, or dead, with that, I know that some already have and that's terrible, there just hasn't been enough for Facebook to have an outbreak and everyone start paying attention, but they will

The Army RANGER Tab is a special reward for a Special Operations Forces Light Infantry Soldier, the More Elite Soldier, a RANGER. Sure, woman are not born to be physically stronger than man. That's a fact. But, you can't deny that these women risk their life and went through tough training - training that most of us can't even endure - to earn that tab. And she is a officer, which means she went through OCS. Unless you're an officer + ranger like her, you have no right to criticize her. She deserves respect because she is willing to put her life down for the country.

If they get lower standards they won't go as hard, and if they can't be as fit as men then they should not be allowed in.
In the battle field and front line you either keep up or you're dead, men struggle to do that sometimes, so if women struggle a lot to do a men's bare minimum that means they are done for and dead never seen again and they will have their instagram account dead, gotta get that true your head society.

Every branch can go to ranger school, even foreigners from their home country's military. The army just has limits on their own candidate's MOS.

Major kudos to them and I doubt I could do it, but standards were lowered for them in the sense that they were allowed to repeat phases more times than is normally allowed. for anyone else after they failed them. It was done for political reasons. Obama said he would attend the class's graduation while they were still training so the training cadre was pressured to pass the women so it could be a publicity opportunity for them and the president.

Impressive. Very few females in the Armed Forces pass the Army Ranger School, but the ones that do are indeed extraordinary women warriors. Respect, they all earned and deserve it.

don't be an idiot. women aren't "bad asses." They menstruate, have kids, feed kids, have 25% body fat and the upper body muscle mass of me when I was 14. believe it or not, this isn't an insult to women. In normal aspects of life, female involvement is a must (yin and yang stuff, I get). Combat? No feminine, estrogen balance is needed in such a bloody, aberrant world.

I missed your point though. Yeah, I get what you're saying. Combat is more violent than I understand but, not all women have the same levels of estrogen and such. Maybe there is a part they have to play in the thick of it? How many women actually want to be 75th Rangers?
Geoffrey G Ranger School doesn’t make you a 75th Ranger. Ranger School is a leadership course, RASP is selection for the 75th and a female I’m friends with is planning on attending and I would feel nothing but pride for her if she made it to the end with me.
