As one who struggles with suicidal ideation-I want to thank you for your caring, thoughtful words and putting 988 out there for the listeners. I am very grateful for the Follow Him podcast and learn so much from you and your guests. ♥️♥️♥️
When I hear Elder Scott quoted, I remember a Regional Primary Leadership meeting in the late 70s early 80s when he was presiding. After a few speakers, the chorister asked us all to stand for a rest song, “Popcorn Popping on the Apricot Tree.” Elder Scott didn’t miss a single action! Melted all our hearts
Shout out from your Follow Him fans in the Florida Jacksonville Mission. We love our missionaries and we will keep an eye out for Dr. Benson's daughters and take good care of them. We are in Jacksonville proper and many of our 24-member Zoom FHE group follow this podcast as part of our personal study each week. The missionaries will return with honor saying things like "y'all" and loving barbeque and banana pudding. Thank you for trying each week to reach the one who is struggling with all manner of affliction or even suicidal. Christ would love the whole person, and minister, and so should we.
Thank you for your close reading of "giveth unto men weakness"! So often people fall into pluralising that into "weaknesses" but that is not what the Lord said. My mission president pointed this out years ago and I have never thought of it the same way again. The Lord GAVE this unto us and when we come unto him he will show us that we are mortal and thus dependant on him. So you can't perfect yourself and overcome all things on your own and do everything you want to do? Well, welcome to mortality! Yup, you are human along with the rest of us. We are all on this earth together and we are all weak and will always need the Saviour. And that is NOT a bad thing. But when we scorn our weakness (mortality) we also scorn the help the Lord is trying to give us; we are soooo stuck and the Saviour must be so sad. It is by admitting "I need thee every hour" that we understand one reason why he gave us mortality: so that we would be humble and rely on his Atoning sacrifice.
I love "covenant confidence". Keeping our covenants is a great key to acting on our faith, which does increase our hope in Christ. We may be weak, but with His enabling power, we can become strong. Thanks for another great lesson.
Many of God's children deal with feelings of defectiveness. This was a great discussion of how this is part of the plan and something that He is willing and able to help us overcome.
As one who had lost all hope for a season due to mental illness, I can testify that the Lord will honor our efforts even if we are 'just going through the motion' for a time. It may take a while - even a very long while😅- but the Lord will come through like a sunset after a long winters night.❤
