The Dreamer/Believer one of Common's Most Underrated Albums I still listen to to this day another Solid List Keep Up The Great Work💯👍
It's really good. The Cloth is one of my favorites on there.
@@CEEBrownblue sky is one of My Favorites on there as well
Yep it's top 5 for me.
Common is my 3rd favorite MC of all time. 3 classics. Resurrection. Like Water For Chocolate & Be.
Finding forever is a classic
@@micsmith672 so is The Dreamer, The Believer
The Dreamer & The Believer is a top 3 Common album. Extremely underrated
Be is a forever classic. Him and Kanye made a perfect album
His most highest participated album of all time.
Kanye & J Dilla producing your album? You’re in luck!
Glad “Be” is #1. I knew it would be between that and “Like Water For Chocolate” and I know that album is highly loved but “Be” is just undeniable.
Dilla’s production on “Like water for chocolate” was legendary.. Super star status… Com/dilla’s synergy on that joint, was dope!
‘Love is…’ is an amazing emotional song
Be, Finding Forever, Like Water, and Resurrection all classics
Absolutely plus also Let Love from 2019 and One Day It'll Make Sense from 97
The Dreamer, The Believer is my personal favourite
One Day It’ll All Make Sense is up there too
Resurrection
BE
Like Water for Chocolate
One Day it'll all make sense
Finding Forever
The Dreamer/ The Believer
Best Common albums of all times IMO 💯
You got the best list
One day it'll all make ..
Be
Resurrection
Finding Forever
Black America again
Damn good discography 👍🏽
Actually a perfect list. Resurrection might be the most underrated hiphop album ever.
I love Common’s movie roles, my favorite roles of Common are
The Hate U Give, Just Wright, American Gangster, Barbershop 3, Selma,
CJ’s Blackhawks jersey is tough 🤧🔥🔥
I’m not mad at anybody that thinks Like water for chocolate is better than BE. It’s debatable for me personally. BE is just a flawless masterpiece tho. Common needed that after the negative response he got from Electric Circus. “It’s your world” doesn’t get talked about enough. I love that record
That second verse is masterful
LWFC is masterpiece… and to no one’s surprise, the best tracks in Be are the ones Dilla produced
Thank you for ranking my personal favorite Common album,"Like Water For Chocolate" really high, CT. :)
Ever since that album, I've been a Common fan ever since.
The live version of Rewind That will definitely have you in tears plus on Nobody’s Smiling was the last time we’d hear Pops
CJ that retro Blackhawks jersey is fire 🔥 🔥 🔥 salute my g
Once again Y'all never disappoint with the high vibe episodes! Common is one of my favorite MC"s and has always enjoyed most of his albums so i'm ready for this. Grand note... Like Water For Chocolate is my favorite Common album. Audio Masterpiece!!!!!
Preciate that bro! 🤝🏾
Common is on my Mt Rushmore for rappers. I'm dead serious. With Nas, Pac, and Scarface.
I woulda had Electric Circus lower. Common is one of the few rappers that got into acting and stayed solid as a rapper. I think he's a good actor but he's a great MC. Ye seemed lost and distracted in 2018, I don't think that a Common project woulda been that much better than Nasir.
Not surprised BE was number 1.... that album was undeniable!!!! Finding forever, Dreamer/Believer, like water for chocolate and nobody's smiling were all solid albums to me....
Solid Ranking! Can I borrow a Dollar should be in the top 10 in my opinion. That album made me a fan. Other than that, great job CT
I look forward to this every week much appreciated💎
Thanks bro 💪🏾
Yall have become my favorite rating/review site. Keep up the great work u guys.❤
Much respect fam thank you!
Dope vid Cj and that blackhawks jersey is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Another great episode, one of these days my top pick will match yalls. My favorite common album is One Day it all make sense. But im not mad yall picked BE that album is also amazing
Respect 🫡
1. Black America Again getting its flowers is dope but too high.
2. ODIAMS Should be higher, finding forever A Little lower.
3. Resurrection at 5? That one is crazy. At the very least top 3.
4. Again not surprised Be is one cause y’all said that before.
Great video
Electric Circus is Commons most underrated album
That album was terrible
It was horrible, almost ended his career
14:36 No I.D., who produced both songs, told Complex that Common's songs Resurrection and Nuthin' To Do actually started with another beat and both ended up with different beats
I find "Like water for chocolate" a superior ride than "BE". In my opinion, it's amongst the most soulful projects made in Hiphop. And something about it flows more seamlessly than " BE"....
Either way, Great albums.
Agreed. Like Water for Chocolate should have been #1.
Charms Alarm off his First album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Common got a Slept on Catalogue, but he's definitely a HH legend 🐐
Very astute. LL please? Ghostface?
Common got 4+classics
This is how I rate them:
Be 2005
Like Water For Chocolate 2000
Finding Forever 2007
One Day It'll Make Sense 1997
Let Love 2019 I'm confused you underrated this album
Black America Again 2016
Let love is amazing and no one talk about it
@@seanjjpaul For real
I love 95% of the album and my only skips are (the interlude, my fancy future love and Show me that you love) but they are not bad tracks at all
completely agree@@OsvaldoGodson
Dope review per usual... I f with the way yall critique tho w nuance
Appreciate that fam! 💯
Nuthin To Do from the second Common album breaks down Chicago in the 80's/early 90's to a tee!!
Common is sn absolute unit🔥
I love your work your channel guys keep up tha good work 👌👌
Thank you for tappin in!
Those that are hating on Electric Circus are tripping. Questlove and J.Dilla produced such a dope soundtrack for Common.
Interesting list. Haven't listened to all his albums but from those that I have, my top 3 is Resurrection, Like Water For Chocolate and Be. The order between no. 2 and 3 depends on the month but Be is my no. 1
Awesome list and awesome shirt.
Preciate that! 🙌🏾
So Far to Go is so beautiful. I always believe that feels like a goodbye message from Dilla.
I love “The Shining” version more! It’s more rawer than “Finding Forever” version
I wish i didnt sell my COMMON SENSE albums....YES original pressings of his first 2 albums with the name COMMON SENSE
Like water for Chocolate is up there. One day it all makes sense production was super dope.
No I.D., who's one of the producers of Common's album One Day It'll All Make Sense, said that he felt like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill should've swapped places of Common's songs that they are featured on. In 2011 No I.D. told Complex that he always felt like Erykah Badu should’ve been on Common's song Retrospect For Life and that Lauryn Hill should’ve been on Common's song All Night Long but it worked out great
Wouldn’t be a Culturalist Theory video without a jab at Nas lol (even though less than 20% of hundreds of beats he’s rhymed over can be considered lackluster). Solid ranking nonetheless
I got into Common from Like Water For Chocolate and I love that album. I use to listen to it all day every day. I was hooked on his style and conscious flow.
Then when Electric Circus came out, I bought the cd and was like nah at first but I gave it some listens and I actually like the album..it’s different but good to me. Be (omg) that is my classic Common album..to me it was just perfection and I would listen to it for months. Finding Forever is another loved album of mine. I have all four albums in my cd collection.
But when Common dropped Universal Mind Control…it stopped there for me..I wasn’t feeling it at all…I couldn’t understand what he was doing…rap was changing at the time but I just thought what he was doing didn’t fit him. I got married that year too, so I wasn’t following his music much after that… I had no idea he released so many albums after…
Thanks to his list I will most definitely check out his other albums I missed.
As for his acting..Common is doing his thing..I’m always surprised when I see him pop up in a film I wasn’t expecting to see him in.
He’s a talented brother and deserves to get his flowers for his acting as well as his music.
Well said! Thanks for checking in!
14:10 I Met This Girl When I Was 10 Years Old
And What I Loved Most, She Had So Much Soul
One of the best Discographies in the genre!
Common is one of my favorite MC's. Resurrection was the album that brought me to him. It was like he was telling my story as a young black man even though i was only maybe 13 or 14. I feel for the most part the rankings were spot on even though I feel Nobody's Smiling even tho it was obviously darker it's better than what people give it credit for and One Day is underrated. I had to listen to Electric Circus to appreciate it more.
At long last lol
Now where that Run DMC & LL at lol
Im here for it!!
1. Like Water For Chocolate
2. Be
3. One Day It'll All Make Sense
4. Resurrection
5. The Auditorium Vol. 1
6. Finding Forever
7. The Dreamer The Believer
8. Black America Again
9. Nobody's Smiling
10. Can I Borrow A Dollar
11. August Greene
12. Let Love
13. A Beautiful Revolution Vol. 2
14. A Beautiful Revolution Vol. 1
15. Electric Circus
16. Universal Mind Control
Fairly accurate rankings. I was surprised to see Black America in the top 3. Good stuff. Common is one of of fav rappers, probably top 20-25 for me. Calling Common Chi town's Nas is very accurate also. Being from Chicago, I have a more personal connection to a lot of his music and lyrics. But what's weird is I can't say I consider one Common album a personal classic. None of his albums give me that "feeling". But most of them are dope just not mind blowing for me. Objectively, I think Common has 2-3 rap classic albums (Be, Resurr, and Like Water). Here are my rankings from fav to least fav. I need to revisit that Love alum and I don't think I heard Rev Vol 2.
1. Like Water
2. BE
3. Finding Forever
4. The Dreamer
5. Black America
6. Resurrection
7. One Day
8. Nobody's Smiling
9. Elec Circus
10. Beau Rev Vol. 1
11. UMC
12. Let Me Borrow
Both Electric Circus and Universal Mind Control aged well. Go back to it, trust me. Especially Electric Circus. It set the tone for the next era of beats, we simply couldn't hear it at that time.
You Wilding on having Resurrection so low.
C Jay Williams is like 👏
Electric Circus is one of the most underrated hip hop album ever made period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Appreciate the Chicago love, Blackhawks jersey.
Common is a staple in Chicago and believe it or not actually represents what most men in Chicago are like. Intelligent, pessimistic and optimistic, poetic, swag, and of course a gangster and gentleman depending on the circumstance. One of the most gifted orators in hip hop, Common is one of the best MC’s ever.
As far as acting, he was incredible in Smokin Aces, Street Kings, and Wanted… and stands out in The Chi series
And yes….
BE is an absolute masterpiece.
This is one I was waiting for... Good job CJ...
Personally, "Finding Forever" is #1 for me, no question...
To your question about acting, I totally concur! Lonnie has to be Top 3 Actor/Rapper (I'm considering a balance in level of success in both)...
Respect Ken! Preciate you tappin in
In my most humble opinion, Finding Forever is Common's 2nd best work. Ye's Faux Dilla was mo enjoyable to me than the real Dilla. When I 1st heard the album, I felt like I was teleported to the 87th & Dan Ryan L station in Chicago.
The Light is the greatest hip hop love song of all time and like water for chocolate is my personal number 1
Common is almost an EGOT he has a Grammy and Emmy and Oscar for the song he wrote with John Legend all he needs is a Tony! Go ahead Common
I suggest Pharoahe Monch + Organized Konfusion
Top 10 rapper. Amazing discography
Man I didn't even know Common had this many albums. Thanks for the history lesson Cee Jay
🙏🏾
Be is just everything to me
Common is my Fav MC of all time. This list was almost right Black America Again would've been lower it's solid, but Finding Forever is so much better. I'm not mad at Be is the Number 1.
The Album with the light on it was his best work.
Great list. Now do best song, ha!
Black America Again over Finding Forever?!?! No way! I would have that #2 or 3 on my list. Good stuff tho ya'll!
Respect that! 💪🏾
The song Food is the actual performance from the Chappelle show💜🐐💪🏿
As per acting…Common was excellent in Silo. I recommend.
Common has one of the better discogs in hip hop so I’m not mad at these rankings.
With that said, One Day It’ll All Make Sense is just flat out better than Resurrection, and I’d say it’s better than Finding Forever too. It’s got arguably the best rapping of Common’s career (the other contenders being LWFC and Be). I’d have it top 5 at least, and probably 3rd.
If you think about it…Kanye put all the Chi town legend on the map or back on the map..from twista, common,do or die, lupe , Yung berg, syleena Johnson ,rhyme fest,r.Kelly, hell even shawnna got a beat in Highschool that made noise
Finding Forever and Nobody Smiling are my favorites
…. I think Like Water For Chocolate should be #1, then “Be” …. I also felt y’all ranked “Electric Circus”
Way too low… that album was ahead of its time… other than that I like the list… there’s some Common albums I forgot he made… Brotha Com’s discography is no joke!!
Lawdddd I Love that “BE” album Ye was in his bag bag 🔥🔥
with that said, the intro to Be is also one of the greatest album openers of all time
Facts 🔥🔥
Ill say it again. The top 3 Discographies in hip hop for me is Nas-Common-The Roots.
Tech N9ne ranking?
Styles P
Pharoahe Monch
Be is a watered down version of Common and his attempt of riding trends. It aint mad that it got him more exposure, but It is most definitely not better than Resurrection, LWFC or One Day it Will All Make Sense
1 Resurrection
2 1999
3 The light
4 Be
5 Nag Champa
Resurrection
LWFC
Be
One day it’ll make sense
Finding forever
The dreamer
Can I borrow
Black America
Revolution pt 2
Revolution pt 1
Nobody’s smiling
Let love
Electric circus
UMC
Let's go!!!
Common 🐝
The Collab didn't meet quite expectations? Are you crazy? Ghetto Dreams with Nas was fire
This is the first time I heard anyone say otherwise
This list is 💯 accurate. Universal Mind Control was by far his worst project. He was busy doing movies to be focused
On the "Resurrection" album, Common fathered the homonym/double entendre rhyme style that Jay-Z ran with. I laughed when Jay-Z said, "Truthfully, I wanna rhyme like Common Sense, but I did 5 mill' - I ain't been rhymin' like Common since." Like bruh, you've been rhyming like Common since 2001. Knock it off 😂
Luv Common on 1 9 9 9
Suggestion for a future video: Devin the Dude Albums Ranked Worst to Best? 🤔
📝
Fun Fact: The bassline for Dooinit is a slow, chopped up sample of Rick James' Give It To Me Baby.
You should do Travis Scott album ranking
I knew it. Universal mind control is my favorite lol
CIBAD is criminally underrated on this
I always felt like Finding Forever was the sequel of Be. It is definitely Top 5 for me.
Common got 5 classic!
Since you doing chicago where’s twista?
🔜
Common Got at least 6 Classics in my book
Be
Like Water For Chocolate
One Day it'll all make Sense
Resurrection
Let Love
Finding Forver
Before I finish the video I got like water for chocolate and black america again as top tier rap
Common has 6 classics. I called it for the top 2 and bottom 2 (even though I like UMC more than others).
The People has to be one of Common's best songs and one of Kanye's best beats imo. That song is god tier. Also I like Driving Me Wild so idk about that take lol
I just had to walk off when I saw Resurrection at 5 - I think Resurrection and Like Water for Chocolate are tied at Num 1 - it's funny how overrated Be really is the beats and samples are Num 1 but his lyrics on there was very simple nothing special like some of his other work and Black America is way too high
Finding forever number 1 followed very closely by be
I can somewhat disagree with this ranking. Imo I wasn't completely feeling his "Be(05)" album I was feeling "The Corner" and "Testify" but I couldn't really enjoy the album that much. I disagree with putting "Can I borrow a 💵 (92)" at the near bottom, DAMN!! He was starting out and he was having that hardcore approach on most songs and much of the production had that robust rustic sound which I enjoyed! My favorite albums from Common. 1 O.D.I.A.M.S(97)/ Resurrection 2 L.W.F.C(00) 3The Dreamer/The Believer(11) 4 Finding forever(07) 5 C.I.B.A.D(92). To me Com is one of the greatest because people would think that most of the time he can be soft spoken in person isn't able to battle rap. HE CAN!! He went against Drake and Westside Connection! He got guts!! SALUTE TO COMMON for an entertaining 31 years of enjoying hip hop 👍!
