  • The Micro Sculpin is a twist on a pattern I found that was shared by Moonlit Fly Fishing which they called the Midnight Sculpin. I tied this pattern a little bit differently. I downsized it, added some pectoral fins, and added more weight to the fly. I wanted a heavier fly which I could also use to dead drift like a nymph on my euro rig. I know I have a few other sculpin patterns and they tend to be on the larger size. I decided to go as small as possible and still be realistic with this pattern. You can see in the title picture that I have the fly sitting beside a quarter for size reference.
Give this pattern a try and for sure tie it in a few different color combinations. I will suggest blacks, olives, whites (with sliver polar chenille), or whatever color combos that traditionally work well in your area. Most importantly have fun tying and experimenting. Please go to www.holsingers... for all you fly tying needs. And be watching the website as we will be adding more products from Moonlit Fly Fishing in the near future. Thanks for watching!!! -Shawn
