- Hi, Hello! I'm Basicwitgirl and TODAY here on the channel we begin my first ever playthrough of BioWare's Dragon Age franchise! With the recent release of Dragon Age: The Veilguard and my completion of my blind playthrough of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, I figured I'd keep the BioWare trend doing and dive into their other beloved series! My "canon" playthrough is as an elf mage, but I was ITCHING to try to see where the other Heroes of Fereldon would have come from. First in the series is Human Noble, which I absolutely LOVED!! I think this may be my favorite origin of them all!

Human noble was my first play through. It’s kinda funny cuz you’ll go through dialogue with ppl and anytime they mention family it’s so jarring. The scene at Flemmeths hut when Alistair is sad about Duncan and he asks if you ever lost someone you care about, it’s like “well my whole family died recently” lol
They're all pretty strong origins, but I think Human Noble and Dwarf Noble both do the best job of getting you invested right away.
Dwarf Noble is absolutely incredible, but this one is a close second. City elf is also really amazing, but it comes with some trigger warnings for sure
@@wellhiyadude1 oh yeah, city elf is also really good, but without giving anything away, i usually make choices that mean there's not a whole lot of personal goals left for the warden when they leave, you know?
I think individually there's one or two better ones, slightly but I think in terms of fitting in with the game as a whole I think the human is the best. With Howe and all the politics and landsmeet ect and the overall story of Logain and Howe being the real issue then I think it just slots in the best
@@me5969 female human noble not only delivers with the politics, but opens the relationship with Alistair and ramps up the epilogue options. Just makes the final battle outcomes trickier.
Noble origin is my fav. Meeting up with Howe later is extra satisfying. Oh, and you missed the chance to spend the night with the visiting noble woman’s son.
This is the origin i think would give the best ending for her
3:15 dunno how Bioware was able to fetch him to do voiceover but that Arl Rendon Howe talking is Tim Curry
That's how you can tell he's a villain before he even does anything.
I mean, Tim Curry also did stuff for Red Alert.
@@Northex23 he acted as Premier Anatoly Cherdenko :)
You mean 90s Pennywise was Rendon howe 😮
Human Noble origins story gives you so much more investment in the overall political situation of Ferelden in DA:O. Mostly because it is a combo of "revenge" and "elevation". Basically with the family story and how it happens, you are set out on a massive "personal revenge" story line, but at the same time as things unfold you find out that you can actually elevate not just your own personal position in society, but the position of your "House" as well. So, it is a revenge story that truly gets personal as well as national at the same time.
Dwarf Noble origins does pretty much the same in regard to personal revenge, but the way it unfolds makes your choices have a bigger impact on a specific area of the game. And the way you can play it out is so juicy in regards to "sweet revenge".
(And yes, trying to avoid spoilers as much as possible.... but playing Dwarf Noble one way, to switch at the very end is such a "now you know how it feels" moment.
If you mean what I think you do regarding the Dwarf Noble...I did that on my last playthrough. So very satisfying 😂
@@JediZelda1 -- Without spoilers? Yeah, go like you want something, but at the end decide the other thing?
Yeah, the "just desserts" is super sweet. 🤩
I always choose the 'unethical' choice with the dwarf noble. We're all backstabbing and game recognizes game.
I picked up origins last week because of your videos and my first warden is a human noble. The introduction blew me away and I love how much depth it gives the warden. I have personal beef with Howe now and I won’t stop until I find him
35:00 In this timeline; Basique helped Jowan and Lily escape the tower and fled with them and began her child-murdering ways in Highever.
I always play the Cousland origin story because I think its the best origin story in the game. About a young noble who joins the Grey Wardans after losing everything he or she holds dear. Mom, dad, nephew, sister in law, the teacher, the maid, romantic interest (Iona or Darrien) and all of the servants who are most likely family.
I like to believe that in my Cousland playthrough, Aedan (MC) was a good heart noble but after losing everything, his personality likely changed to the point where he hardly didn't trust anyone anymore and is afraid to get close to anyone out of fear he might lose that person he grew attached to like everyone he knew and loved in Highever and willing to kill anyone who's cross him but would still go out his way to help those in need and is strongly driven to kill Rendon Howe and is a man with nothing to lose or live for. When he met Leliana, someone who also knows the pain of betrayal and loss but learned to trust again after becoming a lay sister, she reminded him that it's ok to trust and love again though their conversations and he fell in love with her and willing to go out of his way to help and protect her mostly from Majorine.
Just like I believe that the Cousland origin is the best, I believe that the Male Cousland and Leliana romance is canon because they both know pain and loss and they both helped each overcome their pain and loss.
Oooh, my first DA ever run.
This brings back bloody memories... ❤
This origin will always have a special place in my heart as it was my first! I just love being a lord or lady in RPGs as the roleplaying is so different :')
Watching this live was so much fun . The edit is almost better. Never change Basic
I LOVE playing as a mage, but the Human Noble and City Elf origins are my favorites narratively. Dwarf Noble is also interesting, but it's comical to play as a warrior with an oversized greatsword that clips into the ground.
I highly recommend unlocking the class specializations as you go along. You have to make bad choices to unlock some of them, but once you unlock them they're permanently unlocked for all characters across all your playthroughs.
I just started playing this for the first time the other day as well. So far it is so fun! I will try to play alongside your videos to see how different things turn out! Have fun!
Think this is a great idea and to really experience it from all the different sides so you can have more of an idea when you encounter it on your main playthrough.
The Dalish Elf origin is probably my favourite, but this one is a very close second. The involvement of Arl Howe ties it into the main story far more closely than most of the others.
(Oh, and you missed the chance for a midnight tryst with either Iona or Dairren. If you ever play this origin again, make sure to speak to them in the study before talking to Fergus. Well... assuming you want a tryst with Iona or Dairren, of course!)
Human noble is probably one of the best Origins. Especially with Arl Howe it gets personal with the human noble Origin. I personally like the Dwarf noble for a similar revenge story arc that if you play it a certain way it's kind of hilarious.
Ah yes. The human noble origin was what I did on my first playthrough. It was one of my favorites!
39:38 lol Freudian slip!! I think we all needed a few pining shots during Mass Effect 2 🤣
A tear comes to me eye
The Cousland story is very much Game of Thrones, especially the Starks.
My Warden is still out there…somewhere , with Leliana, at peace in our retirement.
lol l see Duncan has that effect thru out the multiverse
Now you see why l was cursing out Howle in your other play through
Revenge is a dish best served cold…
Dwarf noble is probably my favorite origin, but this and city elf are very close. All of them are worth playing, but those 3 set up the most personal stakes IMO
What I like about these origins is that at the same time as Basique Cousland is escaping her castle, the other origins are doing their thing. Basique Amell is currently doing her Harrowing and if you were in control, getting Jowan's phylactery. Unfortunately she didn't have plot armour this time and died during the Harrowing iirc.
Also also, speaking of Basique Amell, remember her last name when you get to DA2!
Yeah, I've seen the Elf playthrough Basic.... sip that tea while mom complains about children being killed. ROFL
Human Noble is my favorite origin! I love my Lady Cousland, she always kicks ass. The end of the game has a huge pay off for this route as well, and it's the best route IMO if you want to romance Alistair (for spoiler reasons, can't explain why). I highly recommend you play finish this run, even if it's just off-screen.
24:47 If you're playing a Rogue instead of a warrior you can unlock all of the doors and chests in the origin stories (not just the Human Noble Origin, but also the Daelish, CIty Elf, Dwarf Commoner and Dwarf Noble origins).
39:15 You can flirt with the son or the lady in waiting o f the visiting noblewoman, but for that you have to explore the rest of the castle before going to Fergus. You missed quite a bit of the castle.
Yes, this is the origin that would most suit for what you wanted to do and as far as you could get in some story elements. Minus is that you can't be a mage as human noble, and mage is most powerful build later in game.
I was always wonder why we can’t be a mage 🧙 and a human noble on dragon age origins because that would’ve been so cool in my opinion.
@@TevyaSmolka Because of the lore. If human noble was a mage, he would have to hide it, and bad stuff would happen like with Connor, so he would end up in mage tower anyway.
@@frozen1762 you do make a excellent point especially with the lore aspect and with the mage origin being tied into the circle of magic tower stuff.
you can become an arcane warrior and a blood mage.
@ that’s true and you are right about that
Fergus is the only one that survives funny enough.
I am doing my second playthrough with the human noble.
You can sleep with Iona. I love that.
Nice 👍🏻 now play all the other remaining origins 😊
I myself playing for the first time, nearing completion now, with my daelish elf will try the other origins 😊
If I remember correctly the mage one... is an Amelle 🤔😁 (played 2 first and loved it)
I'm working through them now!
@basicwitgirl Just.. now... finished it... 😭 I'm sad now... my dear elf deléntiene, Elyna 😩 The ending shocked me...
Wherever Basique goes, a child ends up dead
😅
No comment with the dead kid lol
Who would do such a thing?
Basique...."Who indeed (cough)"
There was this other “let’s play”er who was really pissed off when Bryce Coustland called his character “pup”. The way he was pissed was so funny to watch.
Anyway, I enjoyed your playthrough a great deal as I did your Mass Effect.
Hahaha I think "pup" is cute! Glad you are enjoying this playthrough!
You missed your chance to sleep with Darren. Lol. If meet him in the library, before you talk to your brother, you have the chance to meet him your room .
Human noble played with elven ears = makes sense
lol this wasn't the only thing we did on stream that day!
Honestly I still play this game pretty regularly, but I don't pick the origin for the story anymore, I pick it for what skill it gives me.
My advice to new players would be to go through all the origins untill you arrive at Ostagar before choosing which one to continue with from there. 😉
No spoilers! She's doing a blind run.
Ok I can't believe how much this reminds me of how I play video games (get 60-70% through one play through and then start again) 🤣🤣🤣🙈
TO BE FAIR, i'm not totally restarting! Just checking out the other origins! Basique the elf mage will live on!
@@basicwitgirlAha!! I thought you would play this one through 😊. (Without giving spoilers, it has some very rewarding moments)
I'm sure everyone has said it but city elf has to be next
Ooh awesome 🤩
Human Noble FTW
The Human Noble origin is great. But all origins are great, and they each have their own unique connections to the main game. I assume you intend to play as a female in all the origins, but if you want to see a unique male origin then Dwarf Noble is the one to play as a male, there is a thing that only the male dwarf noble can do that is not part of any other origin male or female.
If you play as a male noble then you can have a quick fling with Lady Landra's lady in waiting Iona, and of course Basique could have had a kiss me on the mouth in case I die...with benefits with Dairren.
When people argue that Logain retreating at Ostagar was just him seeing the inevitability of defeat and making the wisest choice, one only needs to play the human noble origin to know that the betrayal was well and truly pre-meditated and not simply a battlefield decision.
Definitely do the Dalish elf origin BEFORE you play Dragon Age 2.
Let's just say you will be continuing with your human noble after Basique the Mage is done.
This origin is why we all hate Howe 😅 To make it worse, Loghain awards him your father's title 😒 It definitely gives you a more personal stake in the politics side of the game. Human noble is my canon DAO playthrough. It may be basic for a fantasy game, but I love the Couslands and their dynamic, only for it to end tragically.
We were talking about this in chat, but all of the origins happen at the same time. Duncan just happens to be at the one you choose. The fandom has speculated on what happens to each character when Duncan is not around to recruit them. I think the mage (Amell/Surana) was likely made tranquil after the Jowan debacle, whether they snitched to Irving or not. Cousland was likely killed by the Howe army, but I like to think that he/she could have escaped through the servant door without Duncan.
Human Noble gives you such extra reason to hate Loghain, it's impossible to side with him later on.
Played all except Dawlf noble. Fav is noble and city elf
I'm excited to play them all!
Here we go again. Thirsting for Duncan.
Basique Cousland planning to make Dad happy by making daddy happy if you know what I mean
you missed having spicy time with the servant.
Lmao it's so funny to compare this to the mage origin which throws you right in with demons and possessed skeletons, meanwhile this origin is like why don't you start with some rats.
@@distractionpie Basique the mage would have LOVED the rats 😂
You forgot to go and chat up Dairren/Iona.
Where was Basique when Oren was killed? 🕵♀
SLEEPING!!!
You should have took your Mom’s items before seeing your Dad
kakak kamu jangan sampai lupa untuk makan siang entar dirimu jatuh sakit lagi love from Indonesia 🇲🇨
Aand she skipped half the origin lol.
@@robertpresley1503 twitch chat had permission to guide me and no one did! You shoulda popped over!
@@basicwitgirl as the cutscene was rolling and (unless you saved earler) cannot repeat certain choices: yep, you could have spend the night with Darren OR Iona.
Bioware is not discriminating on gender preferences, so anything goes. but a treesome is off the table :D
Honestly all the origins are really good. However the mage origin is the weakest.
Wood elf and Dwalf slum is worse imo.
You Look very nice.
