I'm a weirdo too. I used to live in San Diego and I miss the whole state in the worst way so I watch videos of driving and walking various locations in Cali
These are the coolest neighborhoods in L.A. Everyone thinks Beverly Hills is, and it is indeed fabulous.....but these quiet Hills especially Beachwood Canyon are amazingly hip and cool. 💖
I actually felt the opposite. I was shocked by how many pot holes and how poor the roads are in the hills…and most of those homes are actually small and crammed…but they pay millions for the views.
How could anyone not love living anywhere in beautiful Southern California! As far as I’m concerned, it’s the most wonderful part of the world. Compared to the cold, dark depressing, northeast, I bet it’s like living in paradise.
Interesting drive, thank you. Morning and evening commute must be a stressful nightmare. I hope your transmission is OK, as it sounded more than a bit laboured.
Yes traffic time can be hectic in the hills! And we have improved our audio situation significantly since filming this so there will be much less engine noise, and true binaural audio.
My aunt and uncle had a house on lower Beechwood canyon just up the street off Gower and past Cherimoya elementary school. I remember that they had a 2 tone 57 Chevy. On each side of the house we're apartment buildings and I can recall that one of the buildings was new and constructed while we watched it being built.
Wow! This is really cool! I can feel all the history of old Hollywood as you drive through...very neat! What kind of car are you driving? Is it manual?
Yeah the history in the hills is deep! Happy you enjoyed. It’s a hybrid, and we’ve improved out audio quality since this drive. Future drives will have much less engine noise.
Fantástico passeio por estes bairros totalmente sinuosos, mas de uma beleza incrível, Hollywood - Los Angeles do grande país EUA, valeu por deixar conhecer um pouco, muito obrigado meu nobre brother pelo o seu excelente vídeo.
There's a family owned grocery store located half way up Beachwood Drive that caters to the neighborhood and it's pretty much walkable if you live there.
I know the hills have to be an expensive area , but I would not to be there during the rainy season in LA . Plenty of cliffs , one way in and out , narrow streets , mud slide city !
When you live on narrow, twisty canyon roads, sidewalks and front lawns are luxuries you forego in favor of a view. I’m amazed they managed to accomodate firetrucks on these roads!
It's hard to believe that this is supposed to be one of the most exclusive areas in the world. The surface of the asphalt is in terribly bad condition like in a third world country.
How would a mass evacuation be handled? Thats a question that i hope the residents are having kitchen table conversations about. The roads are Steep, narrow and have blind curves.
Great video! But you would think with those insane property taxes from all those "hills homes" they could afford something better than 3rd world asphalt. It would make this area look so much cleaner.
My father had an Italian restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd in the 1970s and he refused to deliver to people in the Hollywood Hills because of impossible parking conditions. He called them goat trails.
The only thing about driving in the Hollywood hills is that you don’t see the homes in all their splendor from the street. Yes! The roads are a nightmare up there. 😅
I wouldn't want to live in a house where you open your front door and step out into the street. Avalanches and mud slides would also be a major concern as well as the dry seasons with wildfires which California has their fair share of. In case of an emergency, you only have one way out of those hills and that's the same way you came in.
Was thinking the same thing, there’s no front yards, hardly any room to even park your car! The roads are so narrow, steep with so many blind spots who’d want to park on the street?
You NEVER make an opposing car back down a hill so you can pass. It's YOUR responsibility to back UP the hill to allow cars going uphill to pass. Otherwise nice video. Very relaxing.
That's crazy logic!! It is far simpler from a driving perspective, for a vehicle to "roll" or freewheel downward rather than be reverse driven "upward". If you freewheel it downward, there's no need to drive it, you simply need to steer it. Whereas reversing upwards, you physically need to "drive" it.its far far easier for the person driving upwards to just "roll" downwards.
@@KittchenSink Check the California Driver's handbook published by the DMV. It's clearly stated in the rules of the road. Rolling backwards down the hill is a recipe for disaster.
Deff not a trip if you don’t like heights or used to driving uphill into one car roads. Must be a nightmare to have to hit the market at night if forgot the milk or water lol. Made this trip to see the Hollywood sign and it was stressful.
I like LA but would have no desire to live on those roads that high in the Hills. Too much of an inconvenience to go anywhere. The road conditions are terrible too.
You’re a target pretty much anywhere in LA! Especially on the flat roads of West Hollywood (Melrose etc) homeless everywhere. Beachwood is stunning, safe, no homeless and the views are something out of this world! FYI to all of the people saying about milk, you have to drive everywhere in la to get milk! I live in a very central area and I can walk to get coffee before I can walk to get a pint of milk!
Too many hillsides have no retaining walls or ground cover. They’re eroding into the street even in good weather, imagine if it rains for a few days in a row, or the inevitable earthquake. City needs regulations requiring property owners to secure their own ground, so public tax $$ doesn’t have to clean up the landslide-blocked streets.
Some of those house are not easily accessible if you're older no room for parking narrow poorly maintained roads and don't let me start on the consequences of earthquakes there.
That's California for you. We're probably the state with the highest tax and most regulations in just about everything, yet our roads and infrastructure are crap relative to the amount we're taxed.

Agreed! It’s rare to hear people talk about Beachwood Canyon and it’s one of our favorite neighborhoods in LA.
No doubt about it..to bad anyday they are saying the whole thing is going to slide right into the ocean

Surprisingly, there are almost no paths for pedestrians anywhere.
It is surprising how few sidewalks there are! It always feels precarious walking there. The street is barely wide enough for two cars in many places.

I expected more from this. Maybe a bit more of a view or something. Even I have more view in my apartment in Brussels

They are surprisingly rough in some places. The recent CA storms have made all the roads worse as well
I hope none of the residents need any first responders!
They’re so rich…then why do they have narrow, dangerous roads?? Money can’t buy better roads??
I get why we have potholes on the rust belt cause of ice expanding cracks and salt trucks, but why does a place like LA have them?
