To the guy who walks out on the terrace with his morning coffee, looks down and sees 3 duds and a hot chick paddling cardboard boats in the hotel pool: I am jealous of you.
I've done this!! My grade 8 science teacher had us build cardboard boats, calculating for buoyancy and pressure, then we raced them across the school's swimming pool. They weren't nearly as fancy as these boats, but some of them worked really well!
At the high school I went to the senior physics class built cardboard boat. They were aloud refrigerator boxes and about 2 rolls of clear duck tape. We took them to the local rec center and raced them during school. Best day of class ever.
Ghostie Calling someone a White Knight = a thoughtless way to denigrate someone who has the moral high-ground. You can do better, Ghostie. (Maybe not.)
my high school physics class just did this for our end-of-the-year project! except we could only use duct tape and cardboard; it was pretty great, and my group rocked it!
Why is it always Anthony who states his name first at the beginning of each episode? Everyone knows who the star of the show is, and it ain't Mr. Evil Beard.
Indians (or native Americans if you like) made canoes from birch bark, sticks, and tree sap so I'm not too surprised that strong cardboard and good sealants work. Tara, are you wearing an evening gown in the water?
Your show is awesome guys, I love it. But please, use metric system units. I know you have a wide US audience, I think you can put both. Also, 3:29 TWSS.
In my school we did this 2 years ago :) it was cool and boats can be very strong we used a garbage bag to protect the carboard from the water and taped eberything together it worked great, my walls were just too tall to paddle :)
You should have added a stabilizer to the V shape boat. (I'm not really sure the correct name of that little boat you connect to the boat to keep it stright, so I'll call it stabilizer for now)
So if we repeat that but coat the outer side of the cardboard with some water proof paint or something similar, they would actually be real boats for $20. LOL amazing. Next time I go to a lake, I'm gonna make one
When she is talking about the boat floating on water, it has nothing to do with weight, it is all density, the boat only floats because air is less dense than water, not lighter
In 6th grade we all (200+ students) got teamed up in teams of 4 and had to build boats out of cardboard and duct tape. I was able to build an amazing boat but the team decided to go with the "lightest" person on the team to race it. It was this small black girl named andrea and when it came time to race she said she wouldn't do it and I was super excited because I had rowing experience but the rest of the team made her do it. She sunk the boat because she couldn't figure out how to paddle and just tipped it over. I am still pissed about this to this day.
Now that you have done the proof of concept, I would like to invite you to come here to Michigan, where you can float your boat in Lake Michigan. If you're not totally confident in your design, you might want to wait until it warms up a bit.
Half the comments are about taras boobs and the other are guys saying how lame the guys who point out boobs are lol we all cans see the picture and clearly was persuaded to click the video because of it even just a bit. Lol so there everyone wins, sweet episode and i lived in peru and i also got inside card board boxes and rolled down hills. :) can you guys make that suit that has all the little wheels on it ?
well.. as of the moment, science is not the only thing that's hard
lol seriously. i was hoping to see the scene on the thumbnail of her i mean them wet. not cool.
You guys have WAAAY too much fun to watch this at work.
Wanna see how we made these? Check it out! Building $20 Cardboard Boats!
Tara: "I feel wet"
;)
Haha, I was surprised they held up as well as they did.
It held up because there are not immature ass hats who've never been around a woman.
Gamer For Sale lol you sound mad. Lighten up, friend.
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I came for the thumbnail
So did you
Definitely some "Hard" science
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
There's really nothing special about the thumbnail though
That girl gave me some hard science if you get it
+Daris Myers hahaha
Tara is gorgeous.
" I feel really wet " Oh... i bet you do hueheuehuehuheuheue
i see what you did there hehehe...
Tara Long makes me.... Long. Always has.
I guess now I know why it's called HARD science
i feel really wet
using the metric system: 1 cubic decimetre holds 1 litre of water.
You'd think as people interested in science they'd use the metric system.
TARA JUST SAID SHE FEELS REALLY WET... -_-
PUTUM PSHHH!!!!
oh shit.... the world is definitely learning about this shit way too early.... and you are an example of why it is too early
To the guy who walks out on the terrace with his morning coffee, looks down and sees 3 duds and a hot chick paddling cardboard boats in the hotel pool: I am jealous of you.
This was definitely a fun episode to shoot, glad everybody made it out of pool safe. GOOOOO Hard Science team!
These two together are magic!!!!
i love this show so much. thank you all for your hard work, hard science people!
Welp, I am happy for the day, got to learn how boats stay float and I got to see Tara in a Dress. 10/10 Happy man. :D
I've done this!! My grade 8 science teacher had us build cardboard boats, calculating for buoyancy and pressure, then we raced them across the school's swimming pool. They weren't nearly as fancy as these boats, but some of them worked really well!
Cool! Never thought cardboard boats will float that well.
3:29 So do I now...so do I
When I was a lifeguard, we used to have cardboard boat races every year. It was a community event and a lot of fun!
When Tara says `boat` all the southern-ness flows out!
You guys are awesome i just found out about your channel and it's so cool
The first annual RUclips cardboard rigatta. I would support this just to see a bunch of youtubers make and fail at boats.
"I feel really wet."
Mmmmmm I bet you do, Tara. I bet you do.
strong thumbnail.
At the high school I went to the senior physics class built cardboard boat. They were aloud refrigerator boxes and about 2 rolls of clear duck tape. We took them to the local rec center and raced them during school. Best day of class ever.
another a wet good fun video and that thumbnail.
👇🏻Horny guys in the comments 👆🏻
XD
Gotta thumbs up for Galactica.
Why didn't Tara just get out of the pool with that front camera?
Because she is not there just as a sex object like some other channels.
3:31 Shut up, white knight.
what a tease.
Ghostie
Calling someone a White Knight = a thoughtless way to denigrate someone who has the moral high-ground.

hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I know right? Where's Kleenex when you need it?
and running man crossed the han river with this. lol
Oh Tara, you look awesome.
Freshman year we had to make boats out of cardboard then at the end of the year we all went out to the local pool and raced them it was really cool
pretty cool!
Cool video, kudos to the one that came up with the idea!
sending some love from the defranco nation!
Thanks you guys, this will be helpful when the zombie apocalypse!
These are always so great
"I feel really wet" HAHA!
Tara is the best. She puts the she in "that's what she said."
my high school physics class just did this for our end-of-the-year project! except we could only use duct tape and cardboard; it was pretty great, and my group rocked it!
The best part was that Anthony named his boat "Galactica."
love this little project. ive built similar boats..that work...out of polycarbonate. nice job
Anthony called his boat Galactica. I laughed. The big question is: Is it a battlestar?
That thumbnail tho
HARD science.
"I feel really wet" - Tara Long
"Hard" science... Giggidy
+Tonchito Domingo HAHA A FAMILY GUY JOKE NEVER EVER HEARD THAT ONE BEFORE OMG HAHAHAHAHA
this episode is really great!
"Oh god it's over five feet!" lol, I laughed so much
it would probably work better if you sprayed it down with never wet first
Mac Marcel flex seal*
This looked like so much fun!
that clickbait thumbnail
I love her voice
Why is it always Anthony who states his name first at the beginning of each episode? Everyone knows who the star of the show is, and it ain't Mr. Evil Beard.
"I feel really wet" lolol I swear I came for the science!! But my mind always.. well you know
this will be my saturday!
Indians (or native Americans if you like) made canoes from birch bark, sticks, and tree sap so I'm not too surprised that strong cardboard and good sealants work. Tara, are you wearing an evening gown in the water?
I too came here for the thumbnail, I stayed for the science
Hers went through the water faster because on all of the edges it curved back which is more arrow dynamic.
Isn't that where they filmed the music video for "I Wanna Get Better"?
that was awesome. at my elementary school we did these once a year
That tumbnail xD
Your show is awesome guys, I love it. But please, use metric system units. I know you have a wide US audience, I think you can put both.
Also, 3:29 TWSS.
That looks like so much fun.
I would abs LOVE to make one and use it in my local park pond waving at all the likkle pwetty duckies!
Duct tapes fixes everything tbh
GODDESS!
That looks like a lot of fun
i be like watching you make the black boat . then i be like "that looks unstable".
then i be like yep i was correct
I used to make little boats out of Popsicle sticks and cardboard!
In my school we did this 2 years ago :) it was cool and boats can be very strong we used a garbage bag to protect the carboard from the water and taped eberything together it worked great, my walls were just too tall to paddle :)
Ohhh so thats how the Mexican Navy works!
"Duct tape helps protect against water leaks" .. why yes they do, and that's why it's illegal to wrap the hull in duct tape per rule 4.
when i was in hs in my physics class we made a cardboard cars, and we race against each other, and i just relate to that, it was awesomee
You should have added a stabilizer to the V shape boat. (I'm not really sure the correct name of that little boat you connect to the boat to keep it stright, so I'll call it stabilizer for now)

There's a variety show in korea, they crossing a river using cardboard boats.
When she is talking about the boat floating on water, it has nothing to do with weight, it is all density, the boat only floats because air is less dense than water, not lighter
What if you would have applied kapton tape to the edges then solder the flaps of tape to have a weight but also re-enforced the areas.
i miss this channel
This look so fun!
"15 cubic feet". Come on people use them meters.
Which boat did not sink? Well it was the USS Patrick, Hahaha
“And later that night when his lights went out of sight came the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”

Awesome, pure awesome!!

Reminds me of what I used to do as a child :D
"I feel really wet.."
Virgin
I made one of these at a camp and we went across the pool too:)
3:12
GALACTICA!
Half the comments are about taras boobs and the other are guys saying how lame the guys who point out boobs are lol we all cans see the picture and clearly was persuaded to click the video because of it even just a bit. I didn't understand because i'm grom sweden, is the cardboard watter proof?
I'm feeling very wet too, tara
I have a feeling hard science was not the only thing hard....
why have they not posted in so long
She's so pretty the girl wow!!
Why dont they upload anymore?
"I feel really wet" that got me.
I had to build a cardboard boat for my CIT class (I'm in highschool.) and we could only use cardboard and water soluble white glue.
