And the benefits of the PTRX-7300 panadapter module over the radio's built-in panadapter are...? Presumably the rich feature set of readily available SDR software like SDR Console, HDSDR, SDRPlay, etc. Big benefit appears to be much better resolution than the built-in panadapter, ability to function as a second receiver. And SDRPlay integrates directly with Win4IcomSuite.

I'd just like to have my 7300's display on my 22 inch monitor. Is there a way to do this without another SDR dongle, etc?

someone has software out that will take the data from the usb and then you can hook it up to a big screen, search around, i can't remember his call

Can you hear the audio on the laptop without turning the volume up/down on the IC-7300?

Can I use the audio from the SDR + filtering ? the Audio and noise reduction on the 7300 is fatiguing after a while, it's noisy and the NR isn't nearly as good as on my FT-891 which is a far better radio to listen to, I listen mostly with headphones.
I was thinking of selling my 7300 for the FTDX-3000 because I think Yaesu radios sound so much better but if I can hook up my Airspy with the panadapter to the 7300 and use the Airspy Audio I would be happy because the sound and NR on the Airspy is much better.
It's a shame the RS-BA1 software is not so good and you're still limited to the harsh sound of the 7300.

DD - Can you show the isolated SDR on the same band (ie/ 40 meters) with the 7300 but one on CW and the other on SSB frequencies?

    Having
some really odd behavior that maybe someone could shed some light on. I
have an IC-7300 that I am using SDRuno and an RSP1A as a panadapter for
it. I am doing this with one of those PTRX boards installed in my 7300.
It was all working very well. Had to tear all my stuff down to set it
up in a new desk I got for the shack and when I put back together this
happens. When I started SDRuno, it asked me if I wasted to install the
new version and I did. when it starts up now, my radio automatically
goes into transmit. Looked at the settings in Omni-Rig and nothing has
changed. If I disconnect the PTRX and run SDRuno on its own it works
fine. Anyone have any idea what could be going on here? Thanks and 73's
    Bruce

I bought one of those cheap SDR USB dongles and it hardly picks up much of anything (now it'll pick up FM radio pretty great but I didn't want to only listen to local music stations). I want something that works but doesn't break the bank and it looks like that DX-patrol might fit the bill.

@Ambient Hex it came with multiple lengths of telescopic antenna so that it can pretty much cover everything that can be tuned on the SDR, i just swap out the different lengths to fit within the frequency I'm receiving on. my issue is that it receives a lot of interference where I live which pretty much drowns out anything other than music stations, and maybe reception from the nearby airport, and some occasional CBers and some occasional shortwave radio, every now and again I can receive some weather stations.

    • @madmax2069
      @madmax2069 3 года назад +1

@Ambient Hex yeah, I bought some passive filters for it. unfortunately there's quite a lot of spurious emissions that the filters just do not filter out. the main filter I got was due to an AM station near by which eliminated issues from that, but the spurs remain.

Just think you don't need to use the radio controls, will it work on my Yaesu FT-101 ZD MKII ?
how much are these devices ?
    Cheers great video.

I picked up on the fact that Dorsey made it sound as if this PTRX-7300 would make the radio follow the software. That isn't the case. It takes Omni-Rig (free), properly set up, to make the radio follow the SDR software. And vise versa. Your SDR software will follow your finger, when it rolls the VFO knob. I'm sure you've already figured it out, being that I'm 3 years late to the party. 😜

Talked too fast, didn’t define terms or provide reference material, and did not explain why in the dickens would you want this? I’ve bought so many add. Ons and each has great promise. But limited usefulness. I thought the presenter was not performing very well, perhaps a nice guy, but garble gook.
