- "The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss)" is a song written by Rudy Clark. It was first released as a single in 1963 by Merry Clayton that did not chart. The song was made a hit a year later when recorded by Betty Everett, who hit No. 1 on the Cashbox magazine R&B charts with it in 1964. Recorded by dozens of artists and groups around the world in the decades since, the song became an international hit once again when remade by Cher in 1990.
That's some awesome FIRE !!!!! PEOPLE ❤❤❤LOVE these girls for a long ,long time
Linda Ronstadt is my hero. ❤
Phoebe is so fine.
I’ve watched this about 200 times over the last month
What a great dup these 2 are. Sad ones gone the other has lost her grest voice. Thank goodness fir these on you tube
just saw this four times in a row and probably can do it another ten .... WHAT AMAZING BEAUTY & CLASS 💔
One of those moments you play over and over again when you want to feel good. Will never get old.
What a nice duo, Phoebe Snow with Linda Ronstadt. Two creative vocals collaborating.
It's magic with them two !!
I was lucky enough to see this live as it was broadcast. Cant ever get enough of this duet.
Me too!
Me too! Been looking for this clip ever since.
@Linda Ohlsen how old you is if u dont mind me asking?
@@cerebrusprime4742 Although I saw the Original Broadcast on SNL, I had to look up the year. I guessed mid 80's, but it was actually 1979. Cheers!
I really enjoyed that duet, song just makes you feel so lively. I'm a fan of both accomplished vocalists.
Two great artists at the top of their game. It doesn't get any better than this.
The Best!!!
GOD---BLOODY AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From a mad keen 75yo Aussie fan.
Two true superstars.......
There On Sync Big Time❤
Genius at work. Amazing in every way.
I remember watching this performance when it first aired. These ladies BOTH killed it. RIP Phoebe Snow and Linda's singing voice. :(
I love how this song highlights both of their "growls"....awesome!
Can it get any better than this??!!
Saw this for the first time today. They had more fun than can be expressed doing this!
Phernomenol!
had one of them days today, where I couldn't find a way to lift myself up, but lo and behold, these talented musicians did the job! thank GOD for RUclips and Phoebe and Linda!😘
Sometimes (like tonight) I can't sleep or clear my head. I head to RUclips and this is one of the tunes I play to soothe my soul. Tonight, in September of 2021, I appreciate these super talented musicians more than ever.
Perhaps the best lady duet in all of SNL.. along with the other song they performed that night Married Men...
This is one of the best duets ever!
Zim Ryu
They were having so much fun
From 1979, great performance, Linda has such a great and powerful voice. She should have recorded this song.
She also performed it with the Muppets (it's on RUclips)
stan smith . Agreed. Should’ve been added to the Duets album.
Brilliant!
I love how they both went all out in this performance - and I would suggest that's because they had such a mutual respect for each other as artists and friends which is plain to see here! That's how you know a duet is good. 😉 And this is FANTASTIC, no question about it. I haven't heard a better version of this song, personally.
Wonderful!
Linda was so young and healthy and of course so beautiful so sad her illness damaged her whole body and Beautiful voice ☹️
You want to see fire?
This is fire!
2:30 Love the final exuberant ‘That’s where it is!’
I came looking for this video because I've always remembered watching the original broadcast on SNL in 1979. You can see a young Paul Shaffer playing keyboard in the SNL band. Late Night with David Letterman wouldn't premiere for 3 more years. Cheers for the upload!
You should check out 1970s videos of Linda Ronstadt duetting with Cher, and a 1980s video of Linda duetting with Leo Sayer “Tumbling Dice.”
Wow that reaction at the end haha love it!!!
This is HELLA
Linda, Linda, Linda ...
Phoebe Phoebe Phoebe
I remember seeing this. It's great. I think they did a version of Married Men by the Roches on the same show
D Fish Yes they did. It was great.
Just spectacular. Phoebe very nice in the freelies, Linda wonderful but the very best part is Blue Lou Marini in the sax and the chorus girles whit their chirps in the back.
Omg love this!
Thank you I've been looking for this!!
Oh how this breaks my heart. I’ve loved them both since the 70’s. Now Phoebe is gone and Linda can no longer sing due to illness. Thankfully we still have their music
You’re so right
Back when musicians went on SNL just to jam with each other, not because they had a record to promote. (Remember when Paul Simon and George Harrison went on to sing "Here Comes the Sun" together?)
So true, also remember Joe Cocker and John Belushi singing "With a little help from my friends" in 1976, legendary.
linda was very adorable and a real cutie here. what a babe.
Back in the U>S>A> with Chuck Berry....
Linda Ronstadt covers another song previously done by Betty Everett.
additional comment: the Shoop shoop song was never recorded by them . Only happened once, live, on SNL.
Linda did this solo on Muppets.
@@Mdebacle ...with Janice and Company! Priceless. The whole Linda Muppet episode was classic. Blue Bayou with the riveting, ribbeting frogs is my anti-depressant video:)
@@lnl3237 The Linda Ronstadt documentary was a great trip back in time.

The back up girls behind , look like Patti Austin!!!!!
Yes, that's her !
OMG !
don't quite get the way the video jerks around, but goddamm what a great duet by two talented women! I remember viewing it WAY back in May of 1979!
NBC takes down the original footage... THe audio is the same however
+justawaiterminute yup great audio!
@Adrian Canales, Hello. It appears to be recorded from a TV screen.
Anyone notice Patti Austin on backup vocals?
Scanning the comments for precisely this reason!
Yeah, I saw Patti Austin! She's a great singer that I wish more people knew about.
Se oye con cierto ritmo latino. Geniales las dos
Anyone notice that the sax player was in the Blues Brothers?
wasn't that a time
Who is doing the camera work? Daaam!☹️
how is it possible that the only recording i can find of this great performance was done by someone who must be wildly drunk, has Parkinson's, or handed his video camera to his toddler, or attached it to his dog's head and ordered him to watch the TV?
I think they're trying to out sing the other and having a blast doing so!
I know this is from SNL but is it a personal video or taken from the actual show? Other copies on here have disappeared so feel free not to answer. :)
The drunk cameraman couldn't wait until after work to drink.
I assume this was done on SNL.
+Bill Smith . . yes May '79
1:40 Blue Lou Marini!!
There is only two kinds of men in the world, those who have a crush on Linda Ronstadt and those who are Gay.! lol.
With Blue Lou Marini (of The Blues Brothers band) on sax!
Phoebe totally stole the show! Made Linda look like just a backup singer 😅
That is nonsense.
You know the reason these little pop princesses of today take jabs at eachother on twitter and fued in the media? It's because deep in their hearts they know that they are just not really that talented.
love the bad video LOL
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a guest cameraman, Mr. Michael J. Fox!
herrdocjdm unoriginal Trumphead humor! go back to that ugly dirty mancave fool!
Thank you. Try the veal, and don't forget to tip your waitress!
Linda does it better on her own!
Solid performance but do not fk with Betty. The original is by far the best.
Two great artists too bad the one s working the tv cameras were doing a horrible job. This is some of the worst photography and editing cuts ever,
Love Phoebe and Linda together. Really wish they had recorded together.
wasn't that a time
The best version of this song ever. They were both on fire.
And one of the ten best musical performances on SNL ever.
Both are so into it, they kill this, BEST performance of any duet. Love Phoebe's little jump of joy at the end. She knew it was great!
First i hear Betty Everett's classic hit, then Aretha's superb cover, Cher's uncharacteristically lackluster version...then this super hot version! Wow!!!!
Linda seem like she really enjoyed singing with Phoebe. Phoebe can hold her own against Linda too. Really enjoyed this thanks for posting
I've been a Ronstadt fan for decades. She always said she'd love to be part of a girl group. That would have been something to see.
Two of the Greatest !
Linda was a huge star when she made this appearance with her friend Phoebe Snow back in 1979. Phoebe always a big indy favorite back in the day. Good stuff. Sheer joy.
Was this on Saturday Night Live?
I've saw it live when 1st televised. Thought it was Great. Was on RUclips for a while. But suddenly gone. Thanks for reposting. Even though the video kind of goes all over. But the sound is what made it. Phoebe and Linda. No sound better. I think best version of song.. Thanks for posting... !
It was live on my 25th birthday. The party stopped cold for these two unmatched artists!
Wow! I'm smiling ear to ear while listening to this. Probably the best version I've ever heard of this song. So...Phoebe and Linda never recorded anything in the studio together? Ever? I've also noticed there is 19 thumbs down on this post? WTF is wrong with these people? Oy!
SNL at its BEST! Dynamic duo. Phoebe was fantastic and Linda is a FORCE OF NATURE! You can see the love and great respect they had for each other! 2 of the greatest female voices.
this is SNL?
Phoebe totally stole the show made Linda look like just a backup singer 😢
...and given Ms. Ronstadt's humility in regard to her own talent, she would be fine with this.
@@op3129sure is SNL. I remember seeing this when it was on live. Left me in awe by taking a simple song and making it a treasure
@@TwinMillMC BULLSHIT.
This would probably be in my top five SNL music appearances. You only see him for a second near the end, but the piano player is Paul Schaefer.
+melkaman8200 Yup agreed.. They did another song that night also.. Married Men..
+melkaman8200 In fact, the entire SNL band backed them up on this performance.
Another great find. I love Linda Ronstadt.
Adorable!
Linda's Eyes always SPARKLE! sets her off from all others, incredible voice that soars like an eagle and then to velvet that melts you away. She is so fine, what a fox & STUNNING BEAUTY!
Absolutely, and when I was young in the 60s and 70s I don’t know why I didn’t notice her and boy that’s sure changed.
@@ronniebishop2496 I'm with you brother. Wish I could have seen her in concert in the '70s. Our BOOMER generation; we gentlemen were (and still are) blessed w/ most beautiful ladies, coolest cars & best music ever made.
I remember this performance and so loved it; Phoebe Snow and Linda Ronstadt just tore through this song. Loved their rapport and the way the audience yelped with delight at that great finish. This was one of two memorable duets of that night, the other being Linda and Phoebe performing the poignant Roche Sisters tune "The Married Men." God, I miss those days, that music, this kind of artistry.
Shame I can only do one 👍🏻 because that was ⚡️AMAZING⚡️
Vocal BEASTS! PERIOD!
Love Linda’s growl!! She was so excellent Live. Thank God I got to witness this National treasure
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS! THEY ARE SO CUTE, AND CHARMING TOGETHER. I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS. THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING.
I remember watching this with my best friend Mike the night it aired! Miss those days!
I saw this for the first time when it was on the air and this is the reason why I wanted to be a singer🌸
The best of two and tallented women.
A subtle but important point: Great sound mix.
Not subtle - - so important.
Two great singers - Linda looking all cute and Phoebe being one of my Mom's favorites - may she RIP!!
Linda, I Love your outfit, lol. Phoebe girl, you held ur own, against our Linda 💜!
Makes Cher's version sound like a toilet flushing
The definitive version, for me. I watched it live on my birthday! The best gift!
I was searching for the Cher version but this is amazing!!! 😍❤
yup!
What a display of 2 GREAT voices!
Great together and strong gutsy goodness sang it sisters
.... and the SAX MAN ............. from Blues Brothers ??
Linda sang this on the muppet show also!
