Although I'm not sure how much he was a part of the musical process itself (Jerry Grannan did most of the compositions), all the drum parts were written by Anthony. The drum part he wrote and performed for Neural Union, for instance, is mind blowing... complexity like I haven't heard in metal for years, and originality at its finest.

While I think this is heavy, it is just diminished patterns over and over. It's a good song but I think you gotta insert something between the first minute and 2nd minute to lengthen it and make it seem less repetitive by inserting something before the repeat. Also props on the tapping and the drumming is really tight. Personally I like to keep the right hand away from tapping as much as possible because if I shift from say the 7th fret to the 1st fret with the left hand, it makes it tighter if I don't have to bring back the right hand from tapping position as well.
Okay yeah but to me it just sounds like it's not really too much of a song if you have you know only 2 drum beats for the whole song and only 2 different riffs really, with the 2:47 breakdown thrown in. It just doesn't really say much if you compared it to any Motionless in white - lamb of god- testament - trivium - necrophagist song. I'm just saying it's amateur and it's an attempt to show off the nice techniques but it doesn't accomplish anything musically. Idrc though.....

And their debut EP, Evidence of Inequity, comes in a very close 3rd (just because that was an older style, and the production adds age to it as well.) THAT'S MY OPINION, in those album's rankings between balancing fun, technicality, melodics, and progression. Their newer albums, I admit, didn't hit the g spot like their older albums. To me nothing will beat Mechanics of Dysfunction. But that isn't to say every album hasn't had its more laid back song(s) in terms of musicality. To be honest I haven't listened to Maree Noire or Incongruous all the way through, because my initial impressions weren't as striking as with the older albums. But go watch their official cover video for their song, Symptoms. The recording sucks unfortunately, but just watch what he plays. It's not bad. I think I can dig it. I think I'll give them another try. Still though.....Mechanics of Dysfunction. Don't miss out on that. Give it a fair listen.
