If I recall correctly..."The Letter" was The Top Song Of All In 1967. I was truly surprised as I heard the countdown..I thought that, "Light My Fire"..."Respect"..."Ode To Billie Joe"..."To Sir With Love"...all were stiff competition...as im sure were "Release Me" and "All You Need Is Love". I always felt that, they wouldnt select a song that was under 2 minutes long...but, The Bix Tops whom I love, proved me wrong. If you too enjoy these guys and like a nice ballad type melody dreamer...Please listen to "Rolling In My Sleep". Thank You.
It's obviously time.As you know he had it in the charts when he was 16.As time went so did his voice. But he sang one of the best ever songs. RIP 🙏 ALEX
Producer Dan Penn coached him to sing the way he did when Alex was 16 and originally recorded this song. It's doubtful if they had him use his actual voice that they would have sold as many records as they did.
great classic tune, but not exactly stellar showman performers. a marked lack of stage charisma, and NO dance contest winners to speak of. PS i'm sorry,i didn't know he passed...i be da douche...
at 16 he was on top of the world, his voice was unreal, one of the greatest vocalists ever, total respect for this man
