A few years back I worked with a company dealing with this issue, we developed a system that was poison less and didn't leave a bunch of dead rats around, we did a lot of work in the commons and some genius called and complained that our system was "inhumane" and so the city stopped us so the problem continues
We Americans don't have a proper way to dispose of food, leaving it in flimsy plastic containers for days at a time is practically asking for rats, this problem is going to take a massive effort from just about everyone involved and we will have to get comfortable with the idea that rats are just rats and that our health comes first
Plant mint around your house, they hate it.
or just poison some food and leave it in a spot the normally travel.... never mind being nice

All the digging they been doing has the rats stirred up. Specially in Somerville/Cambridge.
There are more rats than people and more cockroaches than rats.
Rats are afraid of humans because we are much larger than they are. If they knew their power in numbers, they could overtake us.

Baking soda, corn meal. Mixture.. they eat it and can not BURP.
Invest in a Jack Russel terrier or any other terrier for that matter. If you have ever seen a JR and how it can kill a hundred rats in one mad burst of energy, you will know what I mean. End of Rat problem.
That's no sh*t! I had a JR and he was a beast! He killed anything that moved even whooped a coyotes ass in my backyard one day. The coydog thought he was going to make a lunch out of Busta I couldn't get him in time but it didn't matter Busta toe that son to shreds. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.
I shot the coyote as he was running away. Took him to a vet to get him tested for rabies thankfully he was clean and Busta lives to fight another day
@@DBMorris People underestimate Jack Russell's because they are small. But they don't mess about when it comes to disposing of vermin and if challenged a lot bigger things as you can attest too. There's a reason why they call them the smallest big dog in the world. Once riled up they take no prisoners.

A lot of food sold in supermarkets is totally indigestable(including bread) due to adulteration & poor inspection, causing people to throw it away; rats won't have any problem to digest it

It's simple, the rich get richer because they make it harder on the middle class to survive because money runs the world (not politicians) and in turn it creates more and more poor people and then more of those people end up on the streets and then you end up with way more garbage than usual and then the rats and mice come out to clean up the human mess, so there you have it blame it on the rich and bill them for the mess.🤑🤑🤑🐀🐀🐁🐁😂

😊one key to increase o rats and mice. Is the trash and food people leave out where rodents have access to water and food scraps! Plus. Unclean human habits as far as not sealing and controlling trash and leftover food will keep the problem unsolvable,so clean up people !
Having too mulch there garbage does not help at all. The government needs to rethink their garbage policies
Once I saw a whole field full of rats I thought I was tripping.
The guy who said cornmeal and baking soda is right anything else that eats it will mostly be okay unlike poisonous chemicals put it out in a heavy grid pattern advancing 3/4 of a block leaving 25 percent continuous overlap baking soda and cornmeal are pretty inexpensive and easily replenished within 90 days the problem will be to a manageable situation
Doesn't work on rats, they can't burp but they can fart. It does work on mice.

Brookline is the worst when it comes to rat infestation, residents need to stop crying and let the trash guys do their job. They’re out there early because it’s safer for them and you, less traffic, less people, in and out. It gets the waste out sooner.

leave food including pet food and birdseed out in the open and you will have mice and/or rats, guaranteed. Rats in particular are very lazy in that they set up shop close by to where their food source is. If your yard isn't full of food, guess where they're not headed?
