Man this video was informative in ways other videos isn’t. Instead of verbally saying an instruction and leaving it to the imagination, you pan to a two second clip of you applying said instruction. Like actually showing you scoring the bones. I am doing my first beef rib smoke this weekend and I am using this guide. Can’t wait. Thanks man.
Thank you so much for your videos. I recently bought a Camp Chef Woodwind wifi 24. I followed your video on beef ribs. Super helpful and well explained. Ribs have come out amazing, juicy, tender and a little bark! Cheers. Andrew from Woonona, Australia.
We’ve had our Z Grill ZPG-450A pellet grill for a little over two weeks. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx3c8DmtYRYEKYTiR4g7y6Yc2amUPVs_3X It was relatively easy to put together, with 2 of us. (friend and I)The grill seems well built and heavy duty. I followed the start-up directions, and then cooked chicken on it that evening. We’ve since cooked burgers, pork chops, meat loaf, and steak on the Z Grill and love it. I’ve used a hardwood mix (per my Son-in-Laws recommendation) and we are very happy. Like cooking in an outside oven with a nice smoky taste. This is a perfect size for the two of us, and would probably work fine for a small family also. All the things we have cooked have kept their moisture, and remained juicy. No burning on one side!My next challenge will be a brisket. We highly recommend the Z Grill 450A, so far. Hopefully they did get whatever “bugs” fixed from previous models (per the description on Amazon). I’ll update our review after a few months.
Presentation and video par excellence! Best and shortest beef rib cook video out there. do some more cook presentations on beef & pork using this format, please and thank you.
Ran across this video. You are my new best friend! I did a brissket last wknd on my Zgrill, now I'm gonna try this recipe but with country style ribs. The guy has a nice easy voice to explain how to smoke the meat and didn't yell at me! Great job!👍 🤜🤛.
Whelp...I'm hooked. Great channel. I am new to smoking and I just bought a Traeger Ironwood 885...I think I know what to cook for my first meal on it! Thanks for the tips!!
Question. Do you trim that lair of fat under the top layer of beef?Whenever I do beef ribs it doesn’t render and it remains too fatty. Am I pulling them too early? I do the probe test and make sure it’s like butter
These ribs I got here had the top layer of meat already removed. Which I wish it wasn't. You may be pulling them off too early, however, you are right in that some of that harder fat will not render. This is the main issue with beef ribs. I tend to just discard the fat after the cook.
I don't cook ribs often, but I do love a good steak or prim rib and I love them medium rare. Isn't 200 international temp going to cook all the juice out?
You can if you want, if I remember right I just used the temp setting, since it's a long cook it got some nice flavor. On shorter cooks, I may tend to use smokeboost more. With pellet grills, it is hard to oversmoke your food though - so try it out if you want a little extra smokey kick.
need some help, looking at getting a pellet grill either Traeger or a Broil King, major question is we tried a small propane smoker a few years back and the food was horrid due to the smoke and that kinda turned my wife of of smoking. how smoky is the food? can you vary the amount of smoke flavour or should I just stick to the gas grill?
I've heard pellet grills are definitely a lighter style of smoke, like you're definitely not going to get the amount of smoke/smoke flavor you would if you used a traditional smoker with real wood. I have a Oklahoma Joe's Rider DLX and I really like it. It costs about $600 and is way bigger and offers alot more cooking space than a $600 Traeger. If price isn't necessarily an issue you can grab one of those really nice and fancy Traegers for $1200 and they do a little bit more like connect to your Wifi and all that stuff but you won't have a problem with an over smoked flavor with a pellet grill and the food does come out really good. There's plenty of pellet grill comparison videos you can find here on RUclips if you wanna know more.
Yes, lighter amount of smoke with pellet grills for sure - it is way harder to oversmoke something on a pellet grill than on a traditional wood chunk fed smoker. Higher heat cooks are even more minimal on smoke flavor because the pellets are burning instead of smoking - I think this would be a good grill if you don't want oversmoked food.
Pretty much a perfect video. To the point, clear, concise. And good overall video production.

Sounds great!
