Depends on what they offer to BRICS. But I don’t support India being simply petty and blocking Pakistan out of rivalry. Each country needs to build ties, and India should allow Pakistan as a sign of goodwill.
If they stop being the stooges of the West, give up intolerance/hate, give up terrorism, let go of hate for India, stop being the debtor nation, stop being a threat to India's security, and show that they can economically contribute, perhaps. But, what skills, talents and qualities they bring to the table for the alliance, and if they do have anything noteworthy, why haven't those things worked for their own country? Why is it a failed state? And, can they give up the territories they have occupied?

Ethiopia attracts high Foreign Private investment as a form of local Businesses, especially from China, India and the UK.
Meanwhile in Pakistan, existing Foreign Private businesses are finding difficult to run their existing business due to extreme volatility of economy and Pakistani Rupee. They are not thinking to put up a new Business or expanding.
Although Ethiopia has lesser Ease of Doing business index or slightly lower GDP/capita than Pakistan, due to lower volatility and firm determination of govt to bring economic reforms, foreign private investors are finding much more comfortable to invest in Ethiopia.
Plus Ethiopia was one of the fastest growing economies in the world pre-covid. It faced slow down after war and covid era. But the effect has subsided and country is expected to resume it's previous growth rate.
In short, there is a hope for Ethiopia for economic revival but none for Pakistan.

I guess good platform for India to settle scores. You give something you get something. Ask China and Pakistan to give go ahead for permanent Unsc seat for India. In return for Brics to Pakistan. Or ask both of them to settle border issue once and for all in return for Brics.
India was not the only one proposed to be in the UN Security Council. You are forgetting other countries as well. Those countries have no problem with China's opposition. Only India is dissatisfied, even though it is light years behind one Germany.

I will remind you a little about history.
The UN was formed immediately after the war. Germany could not become a member of the UN Security Council because it caused both world wars in the 20th century. I mentioned Germany because it was also proposed as a permanent member of the UN Security Council. The UN is not an effective organization. Not only can the UN not prevent conflicts, but it cannot ensure that the voted resolutions are fulfilled. The UN has lost all sense of its existence.

Pakistan is not a viable candidate for BRICS membership. This has nothing to do with India, it is the state of the Pakistani economy that says so. There are much better candidates around the world. In any case, the new members joining soon should have a few years to settle in before a new expansion drive is encouraged.

We should use this opportunity as a leverage tool with China and Russia. For agreeing Pakistan to be on BRICS we should get the support of China in getting UNSC seat the only power which opposes India's bid to UNSC and Nuclear suppliers group. Anyways in the forth coming years the BRICS will collapse due to lack of collective decision making due to vulnerable partners like Saudi and Iran. Russia's concern on growth of Chinese influence in Central Asia. And re election of Trump into office in 2024 can potentially kill BRICS

BRICS should have some criteria for a country to join like certain Economic Level, Political Stability, etc . BRICS should not allow just any banana republic or terrorist country like Pakistan join.

As a Pakistani, I agree. We should focus on our economy first, get our currency up, and attract investment, these are the certain requirements to join BRICS, and Pakistan barely has any of them fulfilled, just recently Pakistan became one of the best performing currencies in the month of September, so I feel like there’s genuine concern for the economy. I don’t think India wants to fully isolate Pakistan as well, it would be a stupid immature move from India if they won’t allow Pakistan into BRICS even if Pakistan gets to a certain position where they are economically strong and have a lot to offer, peace in the south Asian region is important and both sides realize that, however if India isn’t allowing Pakistan to join for economic reasons then it’s a fair game.

India should be a permanent member of UNSC within the next 10-20 years. India will be the third largest economy and around 12+ trillion dollar economy by 2037. It is also the largest democratic country. If India does not become UNSC permanent member then the UN will be a jock by 2050.
