1st principal of Squad: no one wants to defend. Noobs don’t know how to and experienced players tend to rush to the next point. My best matches have all been grabbing the midpoint and defending it. Holding mid we can leap-frog objectives or until the enemy team burns through all their tickets attacking.
Once I play in the server with players all rush to the point and no single squad to defend point/ FOB, I talk to my SL to at least be a reserve stay in the middle while defending FOB, no answers and worst there's no communication or whatsoever...... The result is devastating, major defeat by enemy team because losing numerous radio and sandwiched
Do not sit near the hab, it will just get locked down. When defending don't sit on cap, spread out so you have time to respawn if you die and now you know where the enemy is coming from. Look at your map a lot. Don't ignore habs, often taking out the enemy hab opens the flag, ignoring the hab means that even if you cap the flag your instantly defending.
Join server > look at map > conclude leadership is incompetent in seconds > switch side > check again > switch server > find a good one > you can now enjoy the game till eventually the players change > rinse and repeat.
This to me is where I think transport/logistics squads are so underutilized, if you're and infantry squad leader it's important to be maintaining your own vehicles, usually a logi, and coordinating with the other vehicles, Armor/Helo squads, because they can get you around much faster than walking and allows your squad to stay together. Also certain individuals will only run logis all game, while these guys usually don't talk much if they do, coordinate with them, just because they own the logi doesn't mean you can't use them to get from place to place. I see vehicle based squads being so underutilized in an era of squad when vehicle transport allows for such fast movement on increasingly larger maps.
Good guide for newer players. These days I'm jaded so my advice for a good time is to avoid RAAS and European servers altogether. I'm not saying you can't have a good time going that route but it's like 1 of every 10 games was worth the time investment. Invasion forces teams to play the objective so it's almost always a better experience with more action and coordination. Squad leading is like herding blind, deaf cats so RAAS is just a broken game mode in my eyes. It gives people a reason to just do whatever while they get back capped. The wins aren't satisfying because it feels like stealing candy from a baby and the losses are infuriating because your team will just do whatever and then blame the armor for not carrying the match. 3800 hours later and I won't play it unless it says 24/7 invasion, though territory control is a lot of fun too. Still waiting for that insurgency rework years later.
The amount of time I have stated maulding on an invasion layer because 2 attacking squads go elsewhere like it's RAAS has probably taken about 10 years off of my life expectancy
@@A_Honcho I definitely feel your pain. I hate seeing back to back 20 minute games because nobody will push the first point as a team. I just feel it works out more often than not for invasion. But there is also the weekend regulars vs the weekday player problem too. Squad has always been hit or miss but that's probably any game.
Maybe the best strategy guide I’ve seen for Squad in years. Grab the midpoint and get two squads on infantry defense. Simple and it’s works. Haven’t seen anyone break it down as well as since Captain made videos before 1.0 was released.
depending on the situation, if you are SL you don't need your whole squad to make an attacking FOB, leave your men defending previous point, and grab just 1-2 people with you, then ask the rest to come to you once they die.
It is amazing how many people do not know these basics, and when you politely explain this to SLs, who clearly get all there squad experience from watching black hawk down, ignores you because they know best.
I hate that these videos explaining tactics,"flow", and analyzing actual game play aren't getting more likes. Another 6-10 of these and I'd feel ready to start my second game! Very well done sir. -FNG
This strategy is something I feel will take a long time for me to understand. It’s why I’m avoiding squad leading for a long while until I know how the game flows
To add to this, a general video updated for 4.3/4.4 regarding radios and how to set up successful spawns would be dope. Some topics could be: - Coordinating radio placement w/ the team to build a web of useful radios vs of a line of radios on point. - Coordinating logistics (including leapfrogging supplies between radios) - When to keep or dig down a radio - Radio/HAB placement - Pros/Cons of placing HABs in buildings w/ a roof (😀) & limited exits (😥) - Setting up useful defenses
I have lost all my hope in this community. The game is complex, but 90% of the player base is always made up of new players that just want to join a squad and shoot shit. This game needs a community that keeps playing this game and knows the mechanics, otherwise all games end up being a mess with no fobs to spawn on. If people playing squad buy the game and leave after 50 hours, this game can never grow, as the games will be bad due to bad strategies made by new players. And this will cause new players to refund and stop playing squad. Every game, there's people who are new. I don't understand how in every game I play, the 90% of players can all be noobs. This doesn't make any sense. Am I the only one who has been playing for years ? The community is incapable of checking their maps, going to the objectives, making a fob on back objectives, moving out of the hab building, doing logi runs if they notice there's no ammo and many other problems.

I hate how everyone always rushes mid Like, the enemy team doesn’t get any tickets for caping empty objective,so why bother rush mid when you can defend your point one by one This is especially true in aas which has objectives fully visible to both side And also every time when there’s only 3 persons in a jltv backcapping they get destroyed by the enemy and then we get steam rolled Also also,I can’t remember how many time I shouted in cmd chat “Why is no one defending the point except for me?”
@@A_HonchoI think it is because people don't know how to defend. They just sit on rooftops and get destroyed by suppression & indirect fire losing the point. Active defence is really fun where you spread outwards from the point upto 150-200 meters and hunt down enemy attack fobs.
and remember when it comes to playing on the defensive. Ground control around a cap point is the most important factor in taking or defending a point. Barricading yourself inside typically does nothing but create a fish in a barrel situation. Even a super FOB is only effective if you have secondary habs and plenty of troops outside to harass the enemy while they try to breach. Habs on cap reduce your defensive mobility. Enemy will be pushing your spawn simply by virtue of attacking the objective. Once they have you penned in it's game over. Habs OFF cap give you the ability to maneuver around the defensive point and create envelopments to sweep up enemy attack habs, and effectively cover more enemy attack vectors until they have both found and made the conscious choice to attack that hab.
