I DID IT!! I FUCKING DID IT! Thank you for your B/W RNG vids, I think I've watched all of them by now. I was trying it on an emulator so I expected it to be a relative breeze because I can just fast forward insane amounts of PID frames in storm but I had to go through 5 seeds because I had PID sticking around ALL shiny frames in those seeds. Only the 6th one worked and only after about an hour of trying to skip one game frame at a time and catching Tornadus to see where I landed (I couldn't make RAM Watch work so I had to catch Tornadus, check its PID in PokeGen which displays pokemon's PID in FUCKING decimal, copy it to windows calculator, convert to hexadecimal, then ctrl+f through the frame dump I saved in .txt, and then try to adjust the moment when I confirm the last dialogue box from Tornadus in hopes the frames WON'T. FUCKING. STICK. THIS TIME). You doing it raw on DS, and showing us how to do it, makes you a hero. Emulators have all the fancy stuff of saving states, advancing frame by frame, lua scripts to display seed and both PID and IV frames, automatic starting at given date and time, and RAM Watch to rip all the info directly from memory, but you sir are da real MVP. A thousand thanks for your vids.
What does he mean at 12:50 where you hit the "correct IVs"? How do you work out if your timer0 was correct? itll have the same IVs regardless of what frame?
Been trying this for a couple of days now. The game just seems to pick and choose when the starting frame is even when i try to keep mashing consistent. The frame advancements like you said is erratic and even ive appeared to find a clear start somwtimes it will be 30 frames early, 11 too late, 1 too late etc. I think im being affected by pid sticking
With frames that PID stick, are they permanently like that or can those frames still end up shiny by luck alone? It seems like every attempt I have made with exact frame advancements has the shiny frame suddenly stick to a random nature, almost like a shiny lock recalculation. Not sure if this is just exceptionally poor luck I'm having or if its the nature of the shiny frame. Thanks you for all the in-depth coverage of RNG manipulation by the way; your tutorials have been incredibly useful for my own RNG research.
It's luck, but if it sticks it's likely to stick for a while. It can unstick, as mine eventually did. It makes the process a lot more irritating though. The best way to break past the stick is to advance far past the stick frames.
@@imablisy Thanks for the vid, all your old gen rng help vids are really useful. I've been having trouble with a PID stick frame for a few days, any advice on how to get rid of the stick? Its literally right before my shiny frame, so its hard to get it to work! Any advice would be really appreciated
Important to note there CAN be additional weather in the summer months, just less likely. Have been trying this for a couple days now with a date in June I manipulated my TID / SID for and a shiny frame of 760. Couldn't work out where my shifted starting frame was until I realised there was still regular rain after the spawning cutscene had played. Looked ahead to the 1600s and found matching frames which means I can't hit the shiny 😢. Moral of the story, before resetting the game and manipulating for the TID/SID you want, make sure it isn't raining on the date you've chosen, or pick a much higher shiny frame (like 1900+, although will be harder to hit).
is it possible to wait deliberately during the time where thundurus just stands in front of you, allowing the wacky weather to zoom past early frames to reach very far frames?
I'm currently trying to do this on DS but having a lot of troubles. I am sure that my DS parameters (timer0, etc) are correct because I could snipe a shiny starter. However, for the roamer, whenever I try to match the natures to determine what my starting frame is, maybe 1-2 natures will match 5 or 10 frames away from the starting frame, but then nothing else matches, even if I give it some leeway. The IVs match so that's good but I can never find the right starting frame nor the shiny :( Any advice? Thank you for all the videos!
Hey, thanks for your awesome videos! They inspired me to finally switch to RNG instead of normal hunting, and it makes the game so much more fun. I managed to RNG Thundurus right away, thanks so much again 🙏🏾. Now I'm going to try to RNG it a second time. However, I'm a bit worried about PID sticking. Do you have any tips, or is it just a matter of luck?
he does not move after you exit the gate lol. In fact, the only way you can see where thundurus is via the route gate. He doesn't show on the map in the pokedex like previous legendaries.
@@imablisy Wrongo. He DOES move when you exit the route gate. Bulbapedia says so and I tested it myself. Thundurus doesn't always appear at the displayed route because he moves when you leave the gate. You're better off picking an evening time so that Thundurus roams route 7. After the initial encounter, just keep entering and exiting the house until a storm brews, so you'll know Thundurus has returned.
@@imablisy Again, wrong. "Tornadus or Thundurus's location changes when the player *exits* the gate." - Bulbapedia Like I said, I tested this myself. Thundurus moves when loading a new area.
Wondering about KOing Thundurus and beating Alder to respawn him, similar to the Raikou/Entei/Lati RNG method in HGSS. I feel like that's not gonna work thanks to the IV frame advancing during battle, though.
i got it pretty fast on catridge, i was able to find my starting shift frame then i only needed four attempts to get shiny thundurus, in which two cases were the right Timer0
The only time I ever did this, I accidently hit my shiny frame significantly earlier than I was supposed to. I also didn't even have to reset my game for this RNG, I happened to have a good ID for a decent frame.
Ok but how do you encounter it? Like do we run in grass with a repel? Or sweet scent? Wish you would have shown how you get the encounter to happen as well
He...literally does show you. Roamers just appear in the tall grass/sand/whatever area where other pokemon encounters happen as you run around. You use a repel to make sure that other pokemon don't encounter you, so that you only encounter the legendary roamer.
OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH. IT TOOK ME SO LONG TO GET MY TORNADUS BUT ITS DAMN WORTH IT
glad this helped. You're an insane person for doing it haha.

A year late, but yes. The IV frame advances differently than the nature, gender, etc.

For it to appear on route 7, you need to enter the house and exit, right?
I followed your video exactly, but I can not get it to have the same IVs as the ones I set, is there anything I could be doing wrong to miss it?

My chatot pitches have been perfect but the IVs keep being incorrect, what could be the cause?
What's the point of checking of checking Thundurus' location at a route gate? He moves around as soon as you exit the gate, so this method is useless.
