This is a video series from Magic TV which will be taking place every week on Wednesday's at 9pm. In this video series, Craig looks at a hidden gem that everyone has forgotten about. This might be from a Penguin Live, an Alakazam Academy, a Masterclass or even a Masterclass. It could also be a routine from a book or a magazine or an ebook.
Each week Craig will perform the trick in question, talk about why it is so good and where you can learn it from. If you are trying to look for a hidden gem, this is the video series for you.
This week, Craig looks at Red Hot Mama by Frank Everhart & Jim Ryan. This trick allows a spectator to choose 2 cards, then you reveal one of their chosen cards has turned red in the blue deck magiically! Then you do it again, but no card turns red... Thats because the first red card has magically turned into their second card!!!

One of the first tricks I learned from Michael Ammar Easy to master card magic I kind of misses those "super practice". I'm so glad he's back tho
It still is a crowd favorite, even though we magicians know how easy it is. I like doing the Her Card- His Card version. Plays great for couples!
Hi Craig, I love this trick, I've used it for a lot of years now. I really like the Pop Haydn routine for it.
I believe there was another version that used a gimmick known as blue cold box or something like that
David Regal has a version which uses something that cuts out the DL which is great for newbies who may not have the confidence in their DL. The spec can’t get handsy like Matt did at the end though.
It’s in Constant Fooling 2 under a section labelled Something Other which is all about using a fairly rare commercially available something that takes the effort out of some card magic especially DL’s.
Love the trick in all its variations and tend to use it after a couple of sleight tricks like finding a card, to up the ante. The colour change here is probably one of the biggest bangs for buck you can get in magic.
Great trick. I do the Doc Eason idea which gives you a colour change first.
