I was just talking to my friend about how too many black people have no concept of retirement planning and just expect their kids to take care of them. This mindset is killing our wealth progression. You start from zero because your parents are poor and couldn't give you anything. You struggle to figure things out yourself. Then as soon as your reach peak earnings years, you have the financial responsibility of caring for parents and all the other elders in the family, plus your own kids. Nine times out of ten, you don't have enough to set your own kids up with anything and the poverty cycle continues. It's too much.

My mom is bad with finances and had utilities in our names but my dad did get us life insurance and instilled buying a home and not renting. Please get life insurance on you, your mom and husband and do the best you can since she won't sign up for the benefits she's owed. If she lives with you you can sign up for someone those benefits for her.

Oh, on the slavery thing, I noticed that real quick in school. I think I was first grade, and I noticed all the white kids lived way better than we did and had actual homes. Every black person I knew except the project people and one of my best friends who had an actual home, they were middle class black for that time. Everybody else lived in trailers. Jobs were plenty for the whites. As a matter of fact, some had 3 and 4 at the same time but were only seen at the one get the hint. Blacks in the area had the choice of one job. So, by second grade, my mom had enough. She packed her kids up and headed to Atlanta, GA. I said it before, and I'll say it again that it was like night and day. I was introduced to more things that my little mind could comprehend, but I am here to let you know God is always good. He introduced when I arrived here to two angels. Till this day, we still Boi's. Mario and Quaeveous may he rest in peace. I have been with them Boi's all my life. I went from a town that hates blacks to one that love them and it was a big difference. Here now stationed at Keesler Airforce Base. I'm now 50 years old nothing has changed about this place. Yes, did you see the governor do an interview and stated she would attend a lynching. Like I said, this place is still the same.
