Pearl is really good at describing each pie. I believe she could become a famous food critic. Her explanation is so spot on. I love how she doesn’t just stop at one bite & she really thinks about what is good or bad with each pie. Frankly as a teenager she could work in a pastry/bakery at the front counter & be an expert sales person. Her personality would make you want but buy pastries.. GOD BLESS
I .. correction… WE (speaking for all the people lol) need a Pearl foodie review channel! She is a gem! But so are all of your kids.. but she is a standout reviewer w a great palate and vocab for describing flavors! But.. wouldn’t it be cool to have Daniel the chef in training to do some taste reviews of mom’s amazing baking! I have loved all your pie- great mix of sweet, savory, international, tart, galette, hand held.. you’ve given us all a nice variety of new and interesting pies to discover with you! Ty
Possibly toss/roll the diced ginger in sugar as opposed to flour. I've used the candied ginger before in cookies. Had a time with it clumping together. Sugar helped.
I make pear galette a lot in the fall. My recipe has dried lemon peel instead of candied ginger. But I only use about half a teaspoon. The flavor is magical.
I've made a pear gallet before with no ginger , only nutmeg and cinnamon with pears from my tree. It's quite simple and sweet. I bet the ginger takes it up a notch. I'll try that!
"Except your Women"!!! I love it!!! That pie looks delicious (as I sit here with my plain greek yogurt with blueberries pretending I'm eating Pear Galette!) Thank you!
I have a challenge for you if you want to try. I am on a low to no carb diet due to diabetes diagnoses (trying to uses food to reverse it , i have lost 12lbs) any way.. is there a pie that is a holiday type pie that can fit the bill? low carb/no surgar, low calorie, healthy and taste great? is there replacement sweetners that are not stevia,or the like that can be used? like fruit instead? I know that is probably alot to ask i thought i just would through that out there for maybe next year? i am researching it as well. I love to watch your channel especially during this because i can watch yall enjoy that which i cant eat and I can make for others. Thank you for all you do.
Fruit pies don’t always need to have cinnamon, ginger, cloves….etc. Sometimes it is just nice to taste the fruit Spice can mask the true fresh flavor of the fruit 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋🍒🍋🟩🍓🥭🫐 💛💕 But I guess it all comes down to personal preference. My guess is people who are partial to chai tea over lemonade would prefer fruit pies with some added spice(s)*
Did you know that Setember 29th is Michaelmas in England? In medievil times. it was considered the last day you could eat berry pie. It was believed that after this date, the berries would be poisonous. So how about a berry pie on the 29th? Just a thought. Blessings, Janell PS - We've turned it into a family holiday since our last name is Michael. Unfortunately, my family does not like berry pie - so we have chocolate pie instead. LOL
Hi everyone! Two things, a lil fun fact to know & a suggestion for next year… Do you happen to know why ginger is served with sushi? I heard you are to eat a small bit in between pieces of sushi to cleanse your pallet. That way, each bite still tastes as amazing as the first bite! Second, if you do September pies next year, you could do “pies around the world”. You could pick 30 different countries & make a pie that is known to originate from that area. You have already done a few this season but I thought it would make a great overall theme. In preparation for this, you could ask for viewer suggestions!! More than likely you have viewers from all around the globe and/or family or friends who would have great recommendations. Btw, pie looks wonderful:)

Pearl with her global food palate experience ❤
Megan I laughed out loud at the “except your women”. Love your guys’ sense of humor.
Pears….Yum. Pears in a crust…Yum. You are the pie queen.❤
I have so enjoyed seeing Pearl come out of her shell. I look forward to her critique everyday.
I have never cored a pear like that. Excellent way to do it!
To keep the ginger from clumping, mix it into the flour, then add to the rest of the mixture.
Great tip!
My Sister in law makes a pear pie with an Irish cheddar crust. It is surprisingly yummy
I've noticed Peter has become a lot more confident with the camera 😊
Pallete, that is a new concept for me. Thank you for sharing. It looks beautiful.

Pearl you are the best!!! ♥️love the opinion of everyone else too! 😁
My daughter will be a candied Ginger in the Nutcracker this year, so I'm going to bake her this galette for her after party! 😄🥰
Perfect! ❤️👏
Definitely on my list to make🧡🍐🧡
I’m enjoying this series just as I did last year. Have you thought about doing a soup/casserole/stew series?
Love watching these learning little tips and tricks and little items ❤
YAY a galette!! Looks delicious 💛
Wow! That looks impressive! I am sure it’s delicious!
Looks so good,my mouth is watering ❤
Ooooooohhhhh! I love all things ginger and am also known to abscond with the fresh ginger from the sushi.😂
Yum,yum,my favourite so far❤️🥰🇨🇦
Beautiful pie
Maybe roll the candied ginger in the flour, after cutting, to separate it. This looks delicious.

Ohh-pear galette?!!!Yummy-I love to eat red pears they are so sweet-this looks yummy Ty
Perhaps next time you could make a “ginger sugar” so that you get the flavor of ginger without the little chewy pieces.
Is that a thing?! Sounds delicious!
Has anyone on here tried her lard crust with GF flour? Also Mike and Megan, you continue to inspire me. God bless.

That was a beautiful dessert!
Pairs well haha. Love Sep. Pies. Taste like pear lol
"Except your Women"!!! I love it!!! That pie looks delicious (as I sit here with my plain greek yogurt with blueberries pretending I'm eating Pear Galette!) Thank you!
I am inspired. I have some cherries to make into a pie.
I bought lemons to make the tart!
This reminds me of the apple crostata from the restaurant Maggiano’s !!
Can't get over how much Peter and Asher has grown! They v look so much like Elijah and Andrew! Lol😂
Yummy
"Except for your women."
"True that."
😂😂😂
You could use ginger oil!
Maybe lemon zest or some other candied peel? Tho i love ginger

P.S. candied ginger is absolutely wonderful in gingersnap cookies😮!!!
It looks smaller than some of your pies. Have you tried a green tomato pie?
How about mixing all the dry ingredients together before adding the pears. That should help with clumping and with pockets of flavors.

Maybe try grinding the ginger next time.
Ok. Great looking pie! The choice of music, however, was not! So annoying. LOL
