    In today's video we take a close look at the role of the trail arm in your golf swing. Check out Part 1 of the lesson here → The Best Ball Striking Tip I've Ever Received - • Ben Hogan's Magic Elbo...
    The trail arm plays a CRUCIAL role in the golf swing, and when you get it nailed down it sets up your swing for automatic success.
    The proper action of your arm gets your trail shoulder and elbow in an externally rotated position and delivers your club into impact on a perfect swing path for maximum power, accuracy, and consistency.
    It's something I learned from years of studying the great Ben Hogan, and in today’s lesson I'll share a simple drill to incorporate this into your swing!

    Two years of countless hours spent watching golf videos, receiving lessons, and reading numerous books-this single drill summarizes almost everything it took me two years to learn. I went from a 25 index to a 5 in that time. Great video! This, paired with the kettlebell swing you suggested, is huge.

    Excellent video Zach on the right arm position throughout the golf swing. This "Hogan Secret Move" is something I am always working on. It certainly has simplified and unified my golf swing.
    Well Done Zach!!!

    That's exactly what I've been struggling with for a long time. (amongst a few other ones!) I can see the effect of it in slomo coming down where I steepen against my will because my body just doesn't have a choice. Great stuff.

    Damn, you are the best. So good at explaining and visualizations that are creative compared to others trying to teach it. I don’t think I’ve ever taken the time to comment on a video ever but I keep watching your stuff and time and time again, just amazing.

    I follow another teaching professional and earlier this week he posted a video of this same cross-handed drill. Another positive product of this drill is that it puts your trail wrist in ideal angles in the backswing and at impact.

      By the way, I have been struggling with my swing for several weeks and feeling like I was really disconnected missing shots right and left. I worked on this cross-handed drill for about an hour before playing today, and it really helped. I hit 9 of 13 fairways, 14 greens and shot 70 with 2 three putts. Thanks again for your help!

    Doesn’t the elbow come off the side a little on the driver on the back swing

    • @ZachAllenGolf
      @ZachAllenGolf  6 месяцев назад

      It does come off, more with driver than any club. But be careful it’s not much.

    well, no. the left hand below right drill is a very superficial way of positioning the right elbow. and, the simple fact is that if you swing back with just your left hand on the club; and, then put your right hand on the club as you swing back you will get into a better position at the top; and, educate your right arm to bend/flex much better. it helps you to start the club back if you hold the club out to your left and then press the heel pad of your hand in front of the clubhead. gravity then starts the backswing for you. this, also helps you to set the club on the correct arc. if you, also, push back with the joint of your wrist it will enable you to get into a much deeper position at the top. and, the deeper you go, the more you will need to flex your right arm to place it on the club. but, after all is said and done a player has to be able to set their right elbow below their left elbow, at address, for the right arm to be able functon correctly. and, this is quite difficult to do on account of the fact that the right hand is on top of the left hand, at address. in power golf hogan, demonstrates the correct setup by placing a club over his right elbow and under his left arm; tp, stress the importance of positioning the right elbow "below the left elbow". but, he doesn't explain how to get into this position. and, no one since has ever really explained how to get into this position. and, the simple fact is that a player can get into this position by just simply holding the grip end of the club in high position, with their left hand, as they place their right hand on the club. that is all a player has to do to position the right elbow below their left elbow. obviously, they have to establish control of the club with the left hand in the waggle and be strong enough to swing the club back with their left hand and arm; but, the one handed drill will take care of that. so, can we now put this left hand below right nonsense to bed, please.

      It’s definitely not a perfect drill, but I believe it does create many good sensations that then transfer to your normal swing.

      @@ZachAllenGolf where as the drill I described is a perfect drill. An imperfect drill is not a good drill. It is said that Hogan connected his right arm to his body. But, Hogan made space between his arms and his body to flex his arm all the way back. And, really, as Hogan played golf left handed, initially, he would have used the left below right drill if it was any good.

    The arm is one thing but also need to consider the hand positions since a good elbow position and wrong hand positions will produce a bad shot.

    • @ZachAllenGolf
      @ZachAllenGolf  5 месяцев назад

      True, but the right elbow position will greatly influence having a better wrist position.

    Why make something simple, so complicated?
    Ben Hogan simply had singular intention to supinate his right hand from top of BS through impact.
    or as Gerry Hogan wrote: "right palm faces the sky"
    its that simple.
