Placement of speaker is important for these types of speakers which have an airport at the back. I own the Stanmore mark i. I placed it on a ( wooden ) table with its back close to a wall. I use a decent cable to connect to my iPod and iPhone. Much better acoustics. But to improve the frequencies even more, a graphic equalizer to control the genre of music I am listening to takes the speaker to the next level..! Of course, all my recordings are of Flac / Spotify sound quality. Of course, most people will not be interested in dynamics as you so well explained. I watched your video to check whether I should get the Acton ii. I agree with you, the volume is not loud enough. Marshall should have gone beyond as they did with the Stanmore. This speaker is for the kitchen or bathroom and little more. Nice review man!
Very good review. Satellite radio is the way to go. I just play satellite radio through my tv with the surround sound on, it also has BT. This Marshall looks legendary though, nice to have just for that appeal. I was thinking of getting the rs202 Yamaha amplifier and a pair of Yamaha hifi speakers. I heard great stuff about this amplifier.
@@marcogoncalopintovalerio4098 Good one Bro look at the amazing thought you put into your attack, you must be a very smart non binary, one of the 50 genders from the side of the anti American left.
That rattling of the snare is due to resonance. The Marshall speaker you show @ 17:46 looks very different for all the Marshall speakers I have seen. I have 3 Marshall Combo guitar amps including a 1974x, Studio 15 and Lead 12 of various vintages and they all have the typical Gold Aluminum and white Piping around the Tolex with a cloth grill. Much like the Bluetooth speakers the make now I have never seen a Marshall with red piping or a steel grill like you have. How old is your Marshall? Lastly, Rock, Heavy Metal and Alternative are 3 very distinct genres of music. Alternative is NOT Rock or Heavy Metal.
You didn't check or comment about latency. If you use it to play a (music)video is the audio in sync with the video? Some of these kind of speakers are totally useless for these kind of applications because the audio takes a split second to get through the system so its always late compared to the video you're seeing on your device. I've heard it might even have this problem when you connect via cable. I'm planning on buying one of these, probably the bigger version stanmore but i need to know this first.
very nice review, thanx a lot, i think about Acton 2 or Acton, did u have contact with Actor - 2016? I don't know if it is worth buying a new speaker, I donk't know if it differs in terms of sound
Hello, thank you for the video and description, I'm between this speaker and the yahama hs7, I know they are a bit different, what do you think about the difference in sound quality between the two?
in the same form factor, small? I tested an LG CK34 which was great and its cheaper than the Marshall but different form factor. If it was me and i definitely wanted this form factor, i would pay more get the Stanmore 2. But that's even more expensive...
Well, I actually bought it after listening to Acton (version 1) and am highly disappointed. The sound is nowhere close. I would like to know the reason... Acton II advertises Class D amplifiers with 60 W RMS rating (2 x 15 + 1 x 30). But, it has a rating mentioned at the back panel as 36W. Could you tell me what that is exactly? I know you said... it is the maximum power consumption. Now what is the relation between 36 W at the back and the advertised 60W ? In the first version, the same rating was 70 W !
power output is a misleading specification and often manufacturers try to exaggerate this spec as they know consumers think higher power = better. Simply put, you cannot get out more than you put in. You may get an instantaneous peak which is higher as there is stored energy in capacitors but its only an instantaneous peak. Power output is RMS measured which means that for true power you need to measure over time. The high wattage that manufacturers report is simply a momentary peak that is unsustainable. So yes you could get 60W from 30W if a capacitor is used to discharge but this is very fast and should not be called power rating. High end audio products measure power that the amp can deliver the rated power for a long period of time. This is more accurate for listening purposes. So in a nutshell, if the input is only 36W you are only going to get 36W - losses.
We have this- its epic BUT the whole Alexa thing is f#$%ing up the whole experience. The crap thing is... it cost more to get one of these WITHOUT Alexa. We cant find the microphone to stab it and kill that b$&@ for good. She freaking goes off all the time.... driving us crazy. There should be a way to deactivate the microphone but there isn't. Get an older model without Alexa or chuck up the extra cash to avoid it if you are like us and dont need/want that freaking thing in your business 24/7. If anyone has figured out how to disable it with doing damage or where to find it to do damage to it, please let me know!
You think too much about bass and too little of sound quality! Much Bass is not equal to good sound quality. It would have been much better to have a slave speaker than a bass pipes that always make noises when playing loud. Had you been able to program an equalizer inside the speaker with the phone then the speaker would have been perfect! the on / off switch does not cut the current but goes into stanby mode something I do not like. At the price marshall costs it is unbeatable! It doesn't cost much to make a good bluetooth speaker, you just have to do it right! and this is where many factories make mistakes. nowadays it doesn't cost much for an amplifier card to speaker. I've made some small speakers with amplifier that have pretty good sound. So high price is not equal to high sound quality!
thanks, the quality of construction is where most companies get it wrong too. They also use weak speakers that have poor response. So i would say, its not just good, amp, its speakers and construction. Why i focus on the bass, is that most portable speakers tend to have weak bass response. Many comments and questions on my other videos are asking about bass response.
My man it’s a review made by THE TERMINATOR!

Great review
Very nice video. What about the middle range? The sound is flat or colored? I’m between this speaker and Presonus Eris 3.5. Thanks.
i have not tested Prosonus so cannot comment.
Can this speaker be connected with a PC? Is the app prerequisite in order to be connected? Additionally, how it sounds under 50% of volume limit?
Fantastic review! Is there any video/audio lag on this?
Most places you use a portable speaker there is tons of plugs to use.
Great review Arnie! 😊
Great review! Can the app switch on/off the speaker? Or do you need to physically switch on/off the speaker to put it in use???
i cant recall, i think you could turn it off from the app. Turn on via the switch.
Yes it can, and you can also change the bass and treble👌🏻
Can it pair with a DAP, which has no access to google play store?
Great review, your opinion on how much better it is than that small JBL you showed? (I have a JBL like that)
oh a lot better. No contest
I have 2 jbl's and they are total garbage
Great details.....
