I’m definitely that watcher that feels like they know you lol I have a 5 month old baby and I’ve been watching all your baby videos. Sometimes rewatching to take ideas from you! I love to see what you do with him all day because sometimes I’m at a loss for ideas when we’re home alone all day 😂
When my son was ready to drop his second nap, he was awake chatting throughout the night for hours on end. We did a transition to one nap. I would allow him to have a cat nap of 10 mins if needed in the morning around 9 in order for him to be able to stay awake until his actual mid day nap. This was a transition between 11-14 months I want to say. I’ve then had to reduce the amount of time he slept during the day because he would chat away again. So as he ages, him waking and chatting/playing is usually my sign to reduce the amount of daytime sleep. He’s now 26 months and I wake him at the 2h window if he is still asleep otherwise he’ll be up during the night. Unless he is sick, then I let him sleep longer. It’s definitely a trial and error situation! As for tidying up, I do it as it happens lol since my son was a baby I made sure we always cleaned up after playing. If we were starting a new activity or going to eat, sleep.. whatever the case, I always cleaned up with him. So now he’s automatically cleaning up when he’s done with his toys. I help him because I play with him, but he’s very good with that so it’s always tidy.
These are such great tips! Good to know some signs to look for when it’s time to go from 2 to 1 nap. I love how you taught him to clean up with you. I’m going to start that with my babe!
My baby Is still on 2 naps. Just turned 13 months. We usually do a nap around 9ish and I cut it short to about an hour. And then another nap around 1:20 and that’s about an hour and 30 minutes. I noticed that we can’t do nap after 3:30 pm and the naps have to be atleast 2 1/2 hours total throughout day otherwise nighttime is rough!! It’s very hard to figure out naps because I feel like they will be transitioning to 1 super soon!
It sounds like we are on a similar schedule but I have been letting him sleep for 1.5 hours each nap. That’s kind of when he naturally wakes on his own. Maybe I need to try waking him sooner.
