  • How Liebherr Went From A Local Company To A Billion Dollar Business
    From the ashes of WW2 in Germany, rose a company now worth almost an incredible $17 billion. Leibher is the real-time proof of the fact that you can't really destroy revolutionary ideas! Here’s just a glimpse into the incredible history of Liebherr.
    It all began with the optimism and vision of Hans Liebherr, who believed, “My life has led me to consider that, with a strong will to do good work and fulfill different customer requirements to the best of your ability, you can also achieve goals that at first seem almost unimaginable. Don't allow yourself to be disheartened by setbacks, having faith can move mountains.”
    Welcome to Extreme Force, the ultimate destination for :
    - Insane, big and powerful machines like dozer(s), crawler(s), lowbed(s), truck(s)
    forestry machines, logging machines
    dumptruck(s)
    and digger(s) excavator(s)
    - Incredible machine(s) like crusher(s)
    - Biggest machines like loader(s).

    Greetings from Baldock England. On the 9th of June 1969, I started my apprenticeship in carpentry, in my hometown of Mullingar Ireland. My great memory was a Leibheer Luffer tower crane set up on rail tracks, whilst very basic in its German engineering design, it was really fit for purpose. How the company has evolved in the years since.
    BR Valentine Shanley retired project manager!

    A greatly appreciated Industrial employer and innovator in Ireland! I can remember the first time I came across the Liebherr name. It was on a huge Liebherr Air Conditioning Plant in the Computer Systems Dept, cooling Digital Equipment Company VAX's , MicroVax's , 11-780's etc . Two technological giants, one American, the other German, that kick-started the country's economic renaissance in the late 1980's...

      Samsung is constructed to brake down after 3-4 years. They are doing that so that soon after warranty time consumer needs to buy new one. I really would not trust LG neither. But Whirlpool and Electrolux

    My first introduction to Liebherr equipment was one of your mobile cranes that could do 50 metric tonnes. I worked for a metal fabricator that had purchased two Anton Bauer Hydroforming machines in the late 1990s in Canada. The Liebherr worked in conjunction with a Kone overhead crane to position the base, pillars, and top of the skeletal structure of the presses. It was a sight to see.

    This is a very interesting video, but it sonda very much like a corporate promotional PR video. 😂 I hope you got paid for that.
    Thank you for pulling the info together.
    There is a competitor in my area, called Sennebogen who also covers the portable crane segment. I think they also started in the post war era, maybe 10 or 15 years later. Would be interesting to compare their strategy and how their growth was funded.
    In the 50s - 80s smaller regional banks underwrote business loans for SMEs in Germany at amazingly high interest rates. They companies prospered and these banks did too.
    I doubt that such sef-funded expansion would be possible after the BASEL banking guidelines.
    Nowadays they only give loans if you don't need them. 😮😂

      Absolutely: My parents had an interest rate of 12% in 1974 onwards... Banks prospered to a degree that hurt some companies too much ... Banks are to blame for many insolvencies in Germany!

    Surprised there is no mention of the offshore cranes or ship cranes apart from one of them. Or the factory in Sunderland UK which used to produce them which now produces harbour cranes. I served my apprenticeship with liebherr building offshore cranes and spent my whole career working on liebherr equipment mostly cranes. I work on many different types of OEM cranes now but always prefer Liebherr. Expensive but no doubt the best in my mind

    I have a question regarding some of the biggest and heaviest cranes and machinery Liebherr makes. Are those machines owned by Liebherr themself or are sold to other companies? Can imagine how utterly expensive to own, operate and maintain them is, so would make sense if Liebherr are the sole owners and just rent the services when needed.

    • @historicbeef
      @historicbeef 16 дней назад +1

      Liebherr produce the machine for a customer. They don’t own the machine. Sometimes they rent it. But mostly sold. Mind this, you have to pay in full before start of production ( for some specific equipment, developed for the customer ) so for a large crane it can take over four ( 4 ) years from chèque to delivery.

    • @thorwaldjohanson2526
      @thorwaldjohanson2526 15 дней назад

      Those big machines are expensive, but they do the work of 50-100 normal sized machines, for which the operator salaries alone would be extremely high.
