Our anthem as a couple in 1971 my bride died at the age of 22 in 1977. To say I ever recovered would be a lie. Soon enough a half a century of tears and every one in her honor. I love you Gigi
Wond'ring aloud How we feel today Last night sipped the sunset My hand in her hair We are our own saviours As we start Both our hearts Beating life Into each other Wond'ring aloud Will the years treat us well? As she floats in the kitchen I'm tasting the smell Of toast as the butter runs Then she comes Spilling crumbs On the bed And I shake my head And it's only the giving That makes you What you are Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Ian Anderson
I saw him here in Cols., Ohio in 1977, singing that also with the red bowler hat, then Skating Away, then, he brought out that flute on spotlight, twirling it........best concert I ever saw
While I was lucky enough to see his band twice 'back in the day', and LOVED it! It took decades to truly appreciate the complexity and genius of the music.
I was at this one, great concert. Didn't know it was taped. Axeman John Miles opened. The stub is framed on my study wall, right next to Zep stub same venue same year 👍
I moved to the area about a year after that show then saw lots of great concerts/pro sports at the old Cap Centre. Great memories. Saw Tull three times, my favorite was Passion Play in San Diego, then twice at Merriweather Post Pavillion.
A great, if short, song that functions as a bridge on the album 'Aqualung'. This was one of the albums my wife and I played (a lot) as we fell in love all those years ago...and we are still together, deeply in love. "Wondr'ing aloud, will the years treat us well?"
Saw them at Cap Center the following year ('78"). I was shocked when Ian came out in goggle-like glasses (head strap) and a short haircut! "WHO IS THAT?!" I thought, in my admittedly altered state at the time (I was young and dumb, but a huge fan who did not recognize the man on stage). I honestly thought the guy was an actor and that I'd see Ian any second, till he started singing and playing! It was the Storm Watch tour and Ian ran out and "climbed" a rope which pulled up some great-looking ship's rigging as a backdrop. COOL!!! UK, a band I had just gotten an album from (their only one?) and listened to quite a bit was opening, but I had no knowledge beforehand of that. I flipped out when I saw the big lighted "UK" behind the band as we were climbing to our seats in the rafters. They were doing their last song. Needless to say, I was more than a little disappointed to have missed them. I forgot all about it soon after Tull came on and gave a typically excellent concert. Barrie Barlow was incredible. Our seats were off to the side, and a guy in our group was sitting in a group of empty seats further to the side. he came back and said, "I've got a great view of the drummer over there, and he is incredible! - You need to go over and see!". Of course he was right. A good show - my fourth in a line of about a dozen. So grateful to have seen TAAB I and II, 40 years after they stopped that tour! Virginia one night and Philly the next - even got to bring my young son! Always was jealous of my older sibling who saw TAAB in its first days, but was still great to see live all these years later!!
Beautiful - I did start to learn guitar for about 3 weeks so I could play this but quickly discovered it would take too long to learn this, so will just have to listen
I havent listened to aquqlung quit e some time.the 1st 4 albums i seen the tull perform live this was stand up benefit & lastly lung.always enjoyed their career of so many beautuful songs.❤
Lovely, poetic, intimate song. .. just one more example of the genius of Anderson. PS I love and respect Martin Barre as a genius guitarist (and they had a great alchemy), but in my view there is no 'equalization' ..
We had this song played at our wedding 50 years ago. And Jethro Tull’s “Life is a long song” will be played at my memorial service.

"We are our own saviors as we start both our hearts beating life into each other". What a line
I'm with you......Amazing lyrics....Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull?.....These guys are of the ages!...Glad I'm alive to hear them!
true.
As she floats in the kitchen
I'm tasting the smell
Of toast as the butter runs.
Magnificent song , thanks Maestro !
One of our songs for our wedding in 1977 ... still married in 2021.
one of the most romantic songs i've ever heard.
And 2 years later...? Congrats!
Ian has one of the most unique voices and musical styles that there ever was. The guy is a genius.
One of the most human songs, of personal love, ever written.
After 35 years of marriage, when he sings, 'will the years treat us well' I always get teary eyed,,, because they have.
I love the comfort I get from Ian’s voice
That says it-Comfort! Nostalgia for all the warm memories of my lost youth.
Wond'ring aloud
How we feel today
Last night sipped the sunset
My hand in her hair
We are our own saviours
As we start
Both our hearts
Beating life
Into each other
Wond'ring aloud
Will the years treat us well?
As she floats in the kitchen
I'm tasting the smell
Of toast as the butter runs
Then she comes
Spilling crumbs
On the bed
And I shake my head
And it's only the giving
That makes you
What you are

That's why Ian did it, so you and I don't have to.
A good choice for motivation! Keep rockin! Don't give up! You're on the way!
I’m also a guitarist and I suggest you learn thick as a brick too! It will greatly improve you as guitarist
Genio musicale
la di dum....just another musical genius from the 70's
Just...beautiful
I'm sure plenty of better love songs have been written, I just can't think of a single one.
